The MC is an Azure, the Shade powers are just the corrupted version of them. Shade powers manipulate the shadows and Azure powers manipulate the light. Azure are basically angels in this world. The first game explains how your powers got like that, and you have an opportunity to unlock your Azure powers or keep it as Shade.
Is there an advantages of choosing shade or azure powers?
Iām not sure, probably the Azure since itās your full power unlocked.
Kinda hard to say. On the one hand we have Shade which is more flexible in terms of what you can do with it. On the other hand we have Azure powers which terms of raw power beat Shade, however, you donāt have as much flexibility.

Shade is weaker but more versatile, namely because with shade you can make solid objects out of shadow appear out of thin air. With shade, youāve got a green lantern ring essentially, if your character can imagine it they can create it.
Shade also provides superhuman senses and invisibility, as well as enhancing abilities and mental defenses. So with shade you can basically be a green lantern, a ninja, or do wire fu like youāre in the Matrix.
Geeze, this is bad, I canāt even remember all three base powers of azure.
The first power is making a weapon, the second power is ignoring pain, and if you eat souls, because thatās something an Azure can do, you can learn to teleport.
Soā¦overall a shade is better?
I like shade better because itās more versatile, but I get the impression plenty of people like the raw force of Azure better.
So Iād recommend playing both and seeing which one you like better.
Azure also has the Letvir Vatra which is the flaming embers that resembles butterflies.
Just checked the code and it seems like Iāve deleted some choice for the Denise/Alpha choice and it only lets you pick āDonāt moveā Iāll try and find the old code if not Iāll just have to rewrite them
So I know that as a Shade we canāt eat souls, but since we are the only Shade that Iām aware of could we pretend that we can as a kind of bluff? I mean if someone wrapped themselves in shadow similar to how Ren did and claimed they could eat my soul I would believe them.
Honestly, I think the fact that very few people if any know the full extent of the Shade power might be itās biggest advantage.
I canāt see a reason why you couldnāt bluff like that. Only other Azureās would know the full extent of their powers. And the technique your mother used on you, wasnāt done as it was meant to be, which is why your powers mutate into Shade and I can confirm that apart from Alex there has been no other Shade users (Although his āShadeā was slightly different to the MCs because of his power only awakening after he had died and during his resurrection)

That reminds me of a question I have. Is it possible to keep Alex alive after what goes down in the endgame of the previous Unnatural? Be nice to have an Azure/Shade team up.
Sadly not. His power is too unstable. There will be a chance of an azure/azure or shade/azure when Charlie is introduced in season two as she is a full blown Azure.

I try to go for how MCs ended up, my main MC that Iāll be using is all-rounded, the SRT got a reprieve, I kept my shade power and got together with Denise.
I was an All rounder Azure who gave the SRT a reprieve
Well of course when it really comes time Iāll experiment, but in this preliminary stage I go for Dean Bell, no revisions, Academic, SRT reprieve, Shade.
I pick the male, change the name to Alamo Temple, change the monster that murdered my family to a Werewolf, Iām an all arounder, Shut down the SRT (Even though my MC needs the money), ended up with Denise, we lost good people. Shade, definitely shade.
