it depends whether the holder of the holy item actually believes in god or not. if you donāt believe, that cross is as effective as shooting someone with a water pistol.

Yea that is what I meant.
The ways vampires in this āuniverseā work they are ruled by their thirst, until they reach a certain amount of years (1000) they have no control over themselves.
So in that example if a priest was bitten and he was able to āsurviveā the bite and become a vampire he wouldnāt believe in god he would literally forget about his faith and only remember the hunger.
However if this vampire priest was able to survive 1000 years then he may remember his faith and to an extent believe in God once more but he would still be affected by a cross wielded by a true believer. His recovered faith wouldnāt shield him from the faith of another.

Think of it like this for the first 999 years a vampire has to feed and will always go for the nearest victim no reason other that its the quickest route to food.
1000+ they have more control they still have to feed but they can delay themselves so they can feed on people farther away. Very few vampires reach 1000 as hunters and now the SRT kill them. The ones who do reach 1000 are rarely killed as they never feed in their own back garden so for example the vampire lives in one area/city but feeds in another so its harder to track.
Could there be Blood slaves(Blood slaves feed the vampire without 1)dieing 2)becoming one-they cut them selfs also they to not have a free mind most times)
I suppose I could have an old vampire who has some slaves s/he feeds on. The slaves cut themselves under a promise they will be turned after their āserviceā. Maybe have them watch over the vampires during the day.
