UnNatural - A supernatural horror game - editing complete, beta testing over

Found another typo “We were trying to restore your powers, but we couldn’t. The power unleashed was too much, our pillars barely stopped it. We didn’t expect you to have three wings so we weren’t prepared,” reveals Wilbur," The Mc has four wings in the ritual, not three.

@12lexy12

thanks I’ve fixed those errors.

@Everyone

progress report.

Done the azure path upto finding your brother. Will be doing the shade path up to finding your brother tomorrow. then will do the finding Alexander/whatever happens next the next few days, and the finally sort the ten endings over the weekend in time for the beta.

It’s been fun doing some of the scenes, it’s proving difficult due to the fact I had to make a last minute change for the whole ending arc due to a very similar idea appearing in a game that’ll be out before it. The new ending arc while not as fantastic as the game and you all deserve, I feel its a good start and I’m of the belief that the beta testers will help the idea evolve as you have all done over the past few years I’ve worked on this and its early incarnations.

Applications for beta testing is now closed.

Its a few hours early but here are the chosen beta testers. I’ll PM you all later with details.

NS I have a question, So as an Azure if you choose to let a soul remain on earth, does it become a ghost? Also found an error Line 715: Non-existent command ‘goto_scenes’

Found more errosr Line 754: Non existent command ‘goto_scenes’
Line 1065: Non-existent command ‘goto_scenes’ Line 1034: Non-existent command ‘goto_scenes’

@12lexy12

RE:Souls

It’ll only become a ghost if the soul is left attached (usually touching any living thing with Azure powers severs the soul from the body.)

Fixed those errors.

Progress report…

Done the intial shade path. So both Azure/Shade paths are done. Will start writing the Alexander scenes tomorrow, I’m looking forward to it.

@everyone

So… Are you a shade or an azure? Alpha or Beta?

Shade because I like the many possibilities it offers. I lean more towards beta.

Azure of course and I’m beta.

I myself prefer Alpha Azure (Double A)

I generally go with a beta shade, but I don’t stick to that 100%

When I play I’m normally alpha azure. But I do go shade just to see the “grim reaper” scene.

I am usually an azure and I don’t have a particular side I go for. Alpha and beta are both cool.

I normally go for Shade Alpha, but I go for Beta too. It’s just that I never envision my MC being a scientist, so I go for alpha.

I’ve been playing through the first three and a half chapters of the newest version, and have stumbled upon a few bugs and other things:

I’ve been getting an error that the variable alice_rep does not exist. (Obviously, it looks like this only occurs in Beta Unit, which may be why no else has encountered it.) It happens both when I try to initiate conversation with Alice, (line 1116) which is thankfully optional, and also if you submit perfect test results to her, which is only technically optional if, naturally, the test results aren’t perfect. (So, apparently, the only way I can progress forward at all is if I don’t do the testing perfectly. :|)

It looks like, in your upgrade to the new mygame.js-optional version of ChoiceScript, you forgot to create the alice_rep variable in the startup scene. (Probably because you confused it with ashley_rep, which would be understandable given their names. :P)

Also, for some reason, your first name and surname seemed to be both governed by the exact same variable, as I keep trying to put in my character’s name as, for example, “Jonathan Michael”, but it keeps defaulting to “Michael Doe”, meaning that the “Michael” overrides the “Jonathan”, *and* that it thinks that nothing was inputted for surname, therefore defaulting the surname to “Doe”. Obviously a bit of an annoyance, that. (Also, it means that my first name is, surprise surprise, the same as the character Michael’s. @-))

"Today’s Episode of Unnatural was brought to you by TBD.

Tagline goes here…"

Huh. This same generic placeholder seems to show up for every ad break after the first two. Surely you can update these to represent some more current projects?

“The shard piercing your chest before you even realize what it happening…”

There’s probably other spelling mistakes throughout, but this is the one that most caught my eye. “It” should obviously be “is”. “Piercing” should also technically be “pierces” to fit the present tense, but that kind of mistake is made all throughout the game, and thus probably isn’t worth bothering with unless you wanted to endeavor to correct *all* of them.

All of that said, though, I look forward to playing more, especially now that there’s a save system to discourage the mild ragequitting I experienced my first time playing this a while back. :slight_smile:

@Shenrai

Thanks for pointing the errors out.

The alice_rep error was probably due to the fact it used to be alexandra_rep and making changes to both the online version and the beta test version sometimes I miss things. Will fix that.

I’ll look into the name thing as it worked fine yesterday.

The tagline is generic after the first few because once it’s done I’ll be asking CoG what they’d like there. (I.E. whether they want WIPs or only finished games etc or a combination of both)

I want to correct all errors, and hopefully the future beta test will help spot the rest.
