United We Stand - Political WIP

Well, this sounds interesting. And, given what the New Order’s beliefs seem to be–assuming that they don’t just sell out to the Nazis–, there’s a good chance that Moravian politics will never be quite the same. On the other hand, if World War 2 ends as it did in our timeline, this won’t be a good example for European monarchism. (For the record, I’m also something of a monarchist. I’m American and somewhere left-of-center, but it manages to make sense in my mind.)

Could you add me as well? I’ve loved your conversation.

Honestly, what I would like to see from @AlexClifford1994 would be that from the Solodarity side, we could become a beacon for Western Communism, and with helping the Soviets, being lent one of their good generals, Zhukov comes to mind, and a ton of men and equipment to take the fight to the Western front once they take back Poland so that way, they can claim that it’s not them penetrating the Iron Wall (even though this would be before that concept was created).

Interesting idea in theory, and might work as a better example of Communism in action. Though, if history is any indication, that won’t last too long. Short of several tons of luck and/or an extremely politically savvy MC (…or Rosa Wulf, assuming she’s up to the task), there will probably just be a Moravian S.S.R. by the end of World War 2 (…something my Solidarity MC probably wouldn’t be completely happy about). Based on the fact that I’m not even sure where Moravia is in the game, having it part of Yugoslavia would probably be too much to ask. Then again, I also don’t know how strong Moravia’s military is at this point compared to its’ neighbors; it may be an influential Soviet Republic or more obscure.

It is near the Austrian-Hungarian/Swiss/French border regions.

Rosa Wulf is a Stalinist pushing for export of war to all societies. It will be an interesting play to see if you can tear the Solidarity movement away from her and pursue a better path to equality.

Right now, she seems too rigid to keep her position without someone being the power behind her; her inability to play the long political game is apparent in the latest update (imo, ymmv).

It was stripped completely bare by Germany in WW1 - the resultant forces are more like the internal police forces then an actual army - the resistance saved about a Brigades’ worth of material during the German occupation but had used most of their munitions in a conventional defense of the base they started at.

All this info is in the Stats section if you care to look - in case I’m not believable

…I wasn’t sure if that was actually the case or still speculation. Works for me. And thanks.

I’ll keep that in mind.

(Well, that’s what I get for not reading…) I’ll have to copy/paste all of that in a separate document, as that’s some good detail.

Hey, that’s partly what I was hoping for. Expand the Comintern, maybe even convive Yugoslavia to play it cool for a while, and tell Papa Joe to give them what they want.

Swing how it’s on that border, I was thinking we’d have more independence due to the lack of a direct land connection, and being so close to the Decadent West, in which they USSR would see us as a valuable ally in the whole East v West Germany argument. Hell, they might even strong arm the allies into turning us into the new Deutschland.

Moravia has no potential to stand up to Germany. It’s population is ideologically divided and small, it’s landmass is pitiful, and what made Stalingrad brutal - namely, winter and poor logistics on the German side would not be a problem here. There wouldn’t be any Soviet armies coming to the rescue - after a few days, Moravia would capitulate or be bombed to the ground if it resisted. If Solidarity was in power, Hitler would consider it top priority to get rid of commies in his backyard. If New Order was in power, it could perhaps stay neutral, become a collaborationist regime in order to maintain it’s independence, or too be flattened. After the war, depending on where Moravia actually is, it would either become a Stalinist state if “liberated” by the Soviets or a liberal democracy if the Allies get there.

Also, getting into cahoots with Soviets has a very lethal effect on any non-Stalinist communists/anarchists - look up what happened to Anarchists during Spanish Civil War - they were destroyed by Soviet agents and their Stalinist supporters.

As for the whole “democratic” communist shtick, if it would actually be implemented, it would quickly forego any democratic principles and degenerate into a Stalinist-esque dictatorship. Since the principle of communism requires everyone to agree to the terms set out by it (no private property), the state will need to use coercion to make people fall in line, and all voices opposed to the system will be silenced in order for the system to be preserved - therefore, dispelling any democratic notions.

Why people think New Order would ally with the Nazis? They might be fascist, but they hate the Germans for what happened in WW1. Riga was one of the resistance fighters who fought against the Germany occupation.

It makes sense, but that’s why our nation should reach out to any and all nations and fudge some reports about the true horrors of the Nazis, like leaking the Auschwitz information earlier.

Again, I don’t have a problem becoming a puppet state of the USSR, however I myself and an Anarcho-Communist, so I’d have a fair and balanced economic system, yet the social freedoms I’d then Spanish Libertinaje post-Franco, and the original French Revolution which was cool with gay marriage and abolished slavery.

Wait, that isn’t right, at least I don’t think so. Solidarity was a split from Moravian communist party, exactly because they weren’t pro soviet terror.

I agree with what you are saying, but refusing the change to the budget is the best long-term option for Solidarity, possibly inceeasing its votes by radicalizing the society.

I had never met an anarcho-communist before. I thought you guys were extinct. Glad to know there are still idealists in this world, we do need more utopias, something that the most moderate parts of our society forgot about. Can I contact you to understand it a bit better? I have only known classic anarchists.

Yard1 pretty much answered that one. As painful as WW1 was for Moravia, the best option in WW2 for a Moravia not explicitly allied to Nazi Germany would be to try to be neutral. Their army is “more like the internal police forces” than anything else, so, as cool as it would sound, Riga openly leading a resistance force against the Nazis would ultimately be foolish. Granted, it stands in contrast with the “small nation that stood up to Napoleonic France” mythos, (and the whole bit about getting screwed over by the Germans in WW1) but, then again, there’s nothing that could stop them from having an underground movement.

We certainly not need more utopias that slaughter the world and provoking famines. Stalin, Pol pot Hitler Franco Mao Argentina and Chile dictatorships. Each time someone tries to make truth a brave new world , they ended provoking genocides. We need more compromises and diplomatic relations solutions. And not create a supposed new eden that to become truth needs killing rest of humanity. I won’t comment my opinion of anarxhist due is biased of what they did here in Civil war.

I think In the game anarchist should be left out due make a compromise with them is impossible. Solidarity is going to fight with them like happened here.

Rose sounds Stalinist to me. However I only play twice time ago as solidarity

To fudge any reports, Moravia would need to have a well organised intelligence agency, since no camps would be even near its borders. Most likely the Moravians themselves would not even know what goes on.

If you become a puppet state of the USSR, you are going to follow the Stalinist policies (no, not anarcho-communist, not syndicalist, only Stalinist) as dictated by Moscow whether you like it or not. That was the case in all Soviet satellites. For example, in Poland, after “liberation”, Soviets have arrested the original communist party led by a more or less moderate, pro-independence Gomulka (who, nb. was put in charge afterwards in response to WORKER strikes over poor economic conditions, as is usual in communist states, and while he was reformist at first, too quickly became authoritarian and hardline)and put in Bierut, a hard-line Stalinist, in charge. The message was clear - if you are not going to comply, we will replace you with people who will.

Besides, a hallmark of Stalinism (and as I have said before, ultimately any form of communism) was the lack of social liberties which existed only on paper.

Alliance out of pragmatism and a desire for self preservation. Not a willing one, but more of a case of Hitler giving a very simple choice to Riga - either you comply with our demands, or your country is gone. Riga could also be easily ousted by a more pragmatic member of his party (maybe even MC) if he doesn’t agree. A tragic choice indeed.

The reason that Hitler would consider giving this choice to Riga would be very simple - not only they are similar ideologically, but they both have fought in the WWI. Hitler would see a fellow soldier, honorably fighting against noble Prussian officers, who Hitler despised.

But Utopia should always be the the end game of each party and political ideology. If we don’t have political ideals (and a consequent utopia, may it be more “realistic” or “idealistic”) how can we really defend something? Every political ideology needs a Utopia. That is the whole point. But of course the construction of that utopia should surpass the value of human life, or the absolute necessity of reaching compromises and diplomatic solutions. That is what democracy is about, conciliating the different ideologies/utopias in the most acceptable way for the majority of the population. Well, that is what democracy should be about. And it once was.

But how can she be Stalinist if her end game isn’t a dictatorship? How can she be Stalinist if she refuses the communist party’s support and allegiance to the USSR? She is a democratic communist/socialism kind of politician. And even if she was a full blown communist (which I don’t think she is, but only Alex can answer that), she wouldn’t be necessarily Stalinist. It isn’t the same thing.

That’s an interesting interpretation of the concept of utopia, though it is still dangerous - the value of human life differs shan you ask proponents of different utopias. The more unattainable the utopia, the less a human sacrifice to “obtain” it is worth.

Yeah sure, thanks for that. I appreciate that. Sure, I’d love for you to message me, but keep in mind, I’m not a super buff on this. Although check out who I’m following on Instagram, and a little bit of my Twitter for people who really know.

where is the link that works??
