When playing as Kitsune, there something that seems odd to me

It is said that Kitsune mc fur color is same as his/her hair color, but the tail fur is always white, is that intentional?

Yes it is intentional. The white tail is supposed to be a inherited feature in the family of the Kitsune MC.

The prologue baddie sounds like an evil soulmancer, what with him having a glowing red aura and red eyes - and the aura coalescing at the end too.

His soul is corrupted. That is the reason for the red color of his aura and the red glow of his eyes.
Regarding his abilities. I could explain why he can manipulate his aura in such a strange way and what kind of species he is, but sadly, that would be a massive Spoiler.

A few new informations. Since the MC will meet their mother in the next chapter, I thought you would like to know, that the first name of the MCs mother will change depending on your choosen species.
