@djma46
It’s a Mass Effect reference. It means basically the gutsy, blunt, forceful and or out right deadly or violent sort of thing.
I swore by the Obsidian axe to Yiska, but it still gives me the ‘failed romance’.
@AllenGies I think that you should get a legend point for appointing miss caraway deputy, it can be used as a womens rights argument and you could be commended. I also believe that whn you see tumbleback jack in elko that you should be able to negotiate his sentence when you go talk to him about marshal steele.
@djma46 -In Tin-Star, if you can connive your way into the enemy camp then you can seize control of the army and use it to sack Preston Springs. That is what I call the renegade route because it flies in the face of, well, everything that wearing a Tin-Star stands for.
@AngelOfTheBroken - That reminds me I need to play Mass Effect eventually.
@trollhunterthethird -Hmm. The code at the two occurrences of the oath doesn’t seem to indicate any problems. Let’s take a step back. What do you mean by ‘failed romance’? Is it a single entry that I can swoop in on? Is it a status with Yiska that somehow crept in, because if so it could have occurred in a prior chapter.
@WizKid4Evr - That’s not a bad argument vis-a-vis Caraway and her being a deputy. It is worth a point at least. If it is worth two, then having Carson or Andy be a deputy might be worth one for the Saints being federally recognized as deputies.
As for Tumbleweed Jack and his sentence in Elko, are you saying that the MC should be able to negotiate his sentence directly with him in return for his aid? Because there is a way to change his sentence in that chapter if I recall correctly and you can indeed promise him a great deal…
@AllenGies In the Ledgend review I always get ‘Your career wasn’t foiled by a marred romance’ But I took an oath on the axe, Yiska’s relationship bar is still 105 - Is it because I always take his fries, even though I should just order some?
Troll, “your career wasn’t foiled by a marred romance” means your romance with Yiska was successful.
@stsword I must have misread it then! I hate it when these things happen, thanks for pointing this out!
This is one of the best games I have played, i will give you more feedback as i go through it for a second time.
Regarding the Legend point for Deputy Carrie, I don’t think you should give it for having a female deputy (after all your Marshal can also be female and it would be strange to give more recognition for having a female Deputy rather than being a female Marshal). Depending on what exactly her reputation was before your arrival, it could be an “Outlaw turned Deputy” thing, or maybe even for turning from a gambling, fighting, drinking troublemaker into a model citizen (if you give her those obligations when making her deputy and she keeps to that).
@AngelOfTheBroken
You are an epic person having mentioned Mass Effect.
You do indeed need to play Mass Effect. It will change your life forever not even kidding.
I’ve spotted a capitalization issue, when you ask to discuss the Indian issue at the mine, the word ‘Indian’ is all in lower case.
Also I know it’s late in the game to make this suggestion but (if) you manage to take the camp, surely the options options when you are speaking to Cassie should have some effect on both the ‘law’ and ‘order’ stats
And there are several points where I think that “The Bandit Leader” should be replaced with his name.
The line “everyone will be armed and worried. That’ll cut into your business.” needs capitalizing.
Saw the “Lets Go” quote, did you watch “The Wild Bunch”…?
And I love this scene:
{Hayworth glances at the others, then gazes off into the distance. “The thing of it is… I expect you’ll keep your word. When people talk of you, they almost never breathe a word about the law except by its absence. Now, from what I’ve seen around here, chaos is your watchword.”
He turns to confer with his fellows a moment. When he turns back his lips part with an honest smile. “Of course we’d love to have your help. If you got suggestions, we’ll do what we can. Welcome to the Central Pacific rail-road.” }
I’m going to say that Chapter 10 felt like a bit of an anti-climax and the lack of comment from Cassie (I bought her along) was a disappointment. Ditto the choices at the end didn’t seem to be ‘fleshed out’ as well as I’d expected.
Spotted a few spelling mistakes, also I shot down Carrie at the Uptons although I already killed her earlier.
Spelling mistakes…
nust
IF - by Sam Pitcavage
-another one, but it’s on the same page as the '‘nust’'one…
@trollhunterthethird -Alright, thanks to @stsword, that trouble is ironed out. I will probably readjust that sentence though so that no one else is flummoxed by the lack of romantic troubles. I may just remove the no-romantic-troubles entry all together.
@Trask84 -I am glad you are enjoying and yes, new eyes are always good on these sorts of projects…
@Nasdaxow- Yeah, that does make more sense. The reform of a hard bitten character with a shady past is more important long term on the frontier. Thanks.
@Bloodwyche -Hmm. I should probably retrofit in a bit of that during other talks with characters as well and not just Miss Caraway’s. Certainly hers is more poignant though.
The typos have been rectified… except for the lower case indian one, I can’t find it in chapter 3.
The dialogue following where you are commented on as being Chaos incarnate will now have an additional line about it being better to have you inside the tent pissing out than outside pissing in.
@JackHerge -Interesting. When did you shoot down Miss Caraway initially and was it during chapter 8 that she returned from the dead?
Mini-update, including extras for Chapter 10. It appears I sent out that chapter too soon, but I needed to beta it quick while I moved on to the Epilogue.
The epilogue has proven to be more difficult than I considered; most of the recollection of things is pretty dry because I can’t go into too much detail of exactly what happened at each chapter (too many variables otherwise). Still, a specific entry of what happened to the MC afterward, who went with them and where they settled down (if they did) would seem to be where I am headed. Optional entries for each character or location will also be available with a final section for the long term wrap up (Including a theme-song).
Credits too. There will be a full entry of credits in the epilogue.

Say @AllenGies, you wouldn’t mind if I asked which names correspond to which stat and what’s your reasoning behind them?
Also, I obviously missed it but how do you get the osbidian war axe?
Found another early glitch I cannot believe I missed on my previous playtests:
[“Tumbleweed Jack pulls his iron in that same instant. Gun-smoke fills the air as the two of you blaze away. Your shot rips through the air. Tumbleweed Jack spins around, his unfired revolver still in hand…”]
How can Tumbleweed have an unfired gun if we both shot?
Typos in Chapter three:
-
“It is the christian way.”, the word Christian needs capitalizing.
-
“Let’s discuss a solution to the indian situation first.”, the word Indian needs capitalizing. Came up by choosing “What do the Indians want?” in dialog.
-
""Your English is very good. , missing a closing ".
@AllenGies
It is a pretty fun game~ I still replay all three games and I’ve beaten them over ten times.
*Possible Spoiler for anyone who hasn’t gotten that Far! Don’t read!!!*
And I just had a random thought. If you were framed in one choice of killing the Upton was it Marshal James? or the Uptons? Just thinking in case I missed something. XD If it was James that is just devious yet brilliant way to get someone he has a handle on in Preston Springs. If it was the Uptons I question that…or if it was Good Old Joe, who really isn’t quite so good…You know if he went and shot some poor sod. This thought hit me while I was trying out that marry an Upton path/help the bandits since I always go for the goody rout.
By the way found a small error of the Elder Upton calling me a Chinese woman, when I wasn’t. I went the Lackey rout.
Heh, I try. XD It’s just an amazing game.
@AngelOfTheBroken
Wholeheartedly agreed upon. Shepard’s like the Space Cowboy of interstellar travel. Providing justice wherever needed on the wild frontier of lawless space, and breaking the law when in Citadel space.
@AllenGies
My favorite character has to be Yiska. He’s got a certain something to him I like.
@AllenGies Are we going to have the opportunity to help our favorite little Mexican countess reclaim her lands before the story ends?
A few things I saw:
“So hungry snake is dead”, “Anything I can help” and “Would you be lonely without him” repeat after being selected.
“Don’t rightly no how quick it is.” Said by the Telegraph Operator in Chapter… 5? I believe it should be ‘know’
