Tin Star testing

in the chapter when most of the store owners are gone and i check to see if the blacksmith is there it says “Kevin’s forge is cold and dark. Of the man himself, there is no SIGH”. i think it should say sight. i think its chapter 7 or 8 im in im not sure

@AllenGies

Alas, I made Preston mad. -3.
Oh, and… maybe adding an END for the bars would be nice. I once got Carrie up to 150. And adding the Indian you will meet when you make her really mad? ‘’… if not, I’ll send you to one. ‘’

AllenGies - Very, ‘married’ his daughter and made her deputy. Next time I run through I’ll preserve the dialog from the railhead scene.

“El Presidente” needs to loose the article, “Presidente” is the title, there’s no need for the “El” there.

“have the rails been moving forward” and “has the work suffered” repeat after being selected.

“Schmidt can I just call you Ben”. I assume it should be “Schmidt can I just call you Dan”.

Taking Regina as a hostage should also give Legend Points, just a suggestion.

The cat is reffered to as a “he”.

“Those Indians… they’ll seduce you right out of your pants!” There’s no mistake here, the line is just great.

Huh, when hartigans complains about me killing snake, a response to the effect of “That wasn’t my idea” would have been nice.

Anyway NOT to get the ‘marred romance’ ending? (Yiska)

Chapter 9, after blowing up the rails and inspecting the cars I have the option of ending the lions suffering and these crop up:
“{$carson_name}, give it the final mercy.”
“{$caraway_name}, do what you must.”

“I’m the bad penny that keeps turning up.”
Nothing wrong with that, I just have to say that every single time I read this, I have a sudden flashback to Darkwing Duck

After that though, when trying to capture Regina, I have the option to wait for her to drop. Just for clarification: Am I literally standing there doing nothing while she empties her gun on me? (without hitting a single time, apparently)

Chapter 10
I first chose to continue my term as Marshal and then asked James to continue his tale of seeing things through. After that I get a page with no text and a couple of choices.
I think there is the part missing where Marshal James gives you a rundown (pep-talk, speech of the century, something like that) of what he intends to do / what possibilities you have.
On the same page, I also get this option:
Given your discussion with the Uptons, there is only one place to head. New York city.
In this particular playthrough I didn’t talk with the Uptons at all (well, aside from mocking Regina for her deep-fried Brother).
While I did take Regina prisoner, at this point I haven’t talked to her yet (it is on the list of options, though).

When trying to ask Hartigan, he answers with that:
“Now, I know you are wondering, what do I want? Well, I want you to keep your word and not kill my friends. But it is too late on both those counts.”
I did kill Hungry Snake, but I didn’t break my word (something my Marshal is quite keen about). At the Canyon I was upfront about working against him and I helped him out with the Cavallery at his winter quarters, on top which I’m in a relationship with his daughter. While he is free to hold a grudge about Hungry Snake, I’d expected him to at least drop a couple hints in recognition of my other deeds (and relationships).

Interrogation “Marshal” Steele:
You make your plans and lay in yours stores.

As you make you plans and lay in your stores, Carson steps over. “You know, I can’t come with you…”
Repetition, and also I have no idea what “lay in your stores” means, though that could just be me with second language and that (but on the bright side, apparently Google is as illiterate as me in that regard  )
What I mean to say: No idea if that is a mistake or not, just wanted to point it out in case.

Some thing here, talking to Schmidt in regards to New York:
“I think I will.” He says, tenders over a brief nod.

Upon arriving in New York the story goes straight to the mansion, so I assume I know where I want to got. But between that and the interrogation of Steele I only knew that I have to go to New York, nothings been mentioned of the mansion prior to the arrival there. I assume there is a scene missing somewhere in there (maybe a full-out confession scene with Steele? One may hope  ).

Inside the mansion:
Indeed, at the far end there are three painted persons you have seen before; Thomas Upton, Priscilla Upton, as well as Regina and Reginald.
It says three but names four persons. Also, I have no idea who Priscilla is. Did I miss her being mentioned in the story?

"Do you doubt me? Do see only the disrepair? That is how I wish it. The spider can not betray his presense in the web else his prey shall fly off. This, all of this, shields me from a myriad of trifles.
There’s a “you” missing in the second sentence and a " at the end of the paragraph.

Should you call for the police and know that I own them.

He explains, "influencearises from many sources but requires careful tending to cultivate.
Not sure, but I think “influence” should be capitalized.

I also noticed that my Legend score didn’t include anything from Chapter 10. Either I didn’t do anything legen - wait for it - dary!, or maybe it’s still missing (just in case, as usual  ).

Chapter 9 again, during the train boarding and the fight with Reginald (I spared him for last), there are the " missing:
Carson!"
Carrie!"

Also, in this instance I didn’t ask Carrie if I can call her by her first name (this continues with the following choices).

By the way, nice touch with the lampshading at the cliche-showdown

A thick iron collar has been fitted round his neck and hands, make for a piteous sight.

Talking to the railworker on the journey to New York, I got to the point where I can ask individual questions instead of the whole run-down.
This options continue to stay available, I think there is a disable command missing:
“Have the rails been moving forward?”
“Has the work suffered?”

VodooDolly- Excellente. My Spanish is, as ever, tenuous.

stsword- Yep. I had to go in and change a few things with Hartigan’s dialogue, namely adding in a choice-tree so that you can explain yourself to him.

trollhunterthethird-There should be several ways to avoid the marred romance with Yiska. Can you tell me more about what the difficulty seems to be?

Nasdaxow- Lots of good stuff there, with Hartigan especially.

I’ve made the scene where Regina randomly fires at you more explicit. After survivng the collision by pure luck, she can’t aim worth a darn and so its just a matter of not getting in close until she’s fired off all her rounds.

For calling Miss Caraway ‘Carrie’, that sometimes happens under duress when there isn’t time for formality. But after the moment passes, it is back to business as usual.

And yes, I apparently missed a whole section of dialogue with Marshal James when he tries to cajole the MC into heading after the mastermind. Like I said, Chapter 10 is a little rougher than I’d like, but I do want to get it done.

@AllenGies I ask the Shoshone to fire the arrows, brawl it out with the lions. Nod to the engineer to pull the chain and have Reginald arrested.

Spotted something:

[It isn’t long before Hartigan and his crew of twenty ride on over and survey your handiwork.

“Nicely done.” The Bandit Leader notes…"]

Shouldn’t (The Bandit Leader) read (Hartigan)

@AllenGies:
Questions:
Q: anymore interactions planned with Julie?

Q: What about opportunity to improve some skills/visit the shops before heading to NYC?

Q: Would like to see an interaction with whoever I am romantically involved with before I head off to NYC (if they are not comng with me)…long time to be away and in potential danger. As well as afterwards…would they comment on what happened in NYC and also try to influence your choice to leave or not leave Landon county?

The months of incarceration have not been kind to Mister Steele. Gray hair has begun to go white and there is not much meat on his bones anymore. He doesn’t resist for long, tells you everything you need to know before dinner is served. New York City lies at the heart of your troubles.
Q: Similar to what Nasdaxow brought up; Can we have more surrounding the interrogation? I would love to interrogate him and hear all he has to say.

Q: Would be interesting to interrogate Regina and Reginald,
It doesn’t take long to crack the locks on the two of their tongues. Out come their secrets and the location of their father.

He walks you toward the nearest locomotive and makes arrangements for you and your horse. Once on board the train, the remainder of the journey is measured in a handful of days instead of weeks and months.
Q: Where are my companions, if I brought them? Don’t they and their horses get on the train with me? They are too quiet during the trip out East.

At last the green fields and hills of the countryside give way to the stone and iron of New York city. It is a sprawl of buildings high and low. Smoke, ash and dung filled streets form a maze any spider would appreciate. The din of it rises up as you ride forward and the steadily gathering press of humanity makes your skin crawl. Millions of people, tight packed but as ignorant of one another as sheep in separate flocks.
Q: What do my companions think about
N.Y.C.?! Id love to hear Schmidt and Carrie’s reactions!

Q: Missing interactions with or reactions from my companions when viewing the mansion and entering the mansion. It is like they aren’t there but then there is one spot that says: “Schmidt takes up position by the front door, fades into the many shadows. Carrie settles in opposite a mirror in the hallway, keeps an eye up and down.” They do make an appearance if there is shooting… guess I am looking for more from and with my companions during and afterwards as well, i.e. their thoughts about whatever happened at the mansion, such as what would they think if I murdered Upton…

Q: I can only bring along Schmidt and Carrie. I understand why Carson doesnt go. What about bringing Maria and/or Preston depending on relationship stats, etc.?

You strike and Old Man Upton gives a wet scream then falls silent. The Butler merely gurgles a gasp and then collapses, edges ever so slightly to the side so that he doesn’t bleed out on the rug.
Q: Is this with my obsidian axe or melee weapon if I have it? Nothing specifies what I use to “deal with them brutally.”

Q: Do we get any legend points for what happens at the mansion? i.e. gather evidence and/or shooting 'em up should get around and add to my legend.

Typos:
You drop down as Reginald opens fire, the bullets nickering past within a hairsbreadth.
Q: It was Regina, not Reginald.

“You can sing whatever song you want about this, but it won’t change the tune.” Carson interrupts. “and even trying that…Dan, I’m thinking you never really (*were) my friend.”

Stay in NYC to run for Governor, then President:“That latter would be unlikely to succeed. Someone will noticed (*notice?) your lack of paper work.” The Elder Upton notes pointedly.

Killing Upton: “I should have know.(*known)” He says as you squeeze the trigger. “I should have–”

“This part at least came true.” Schmidt says softly to himself as he gives the once golden man (*mane) a solemn stroke.

Millions of people, tight (*tightly) packed but as ignorant of one another as sheep in separate flocks.

A soft cough rises to the side as you close things up and there in the lee of (*the) mansion stands a Butler in a tidy black uniform with a starched white shirt whose collar threatens his ears.

My coffers have filled since rumors of happenings in Nevada have filled them. (*This sentence needs some help.)

“You killed him.” The Elder Upton fumes bitterly. (*It was regarding Regina/her.)

Marshal James stops by as you settle back into your office, idly lean (*leans or leaning?) against the door-frame.

“Really?” Reginald asks, blinks. “Is is (*it) commanded in part by Lieutenant Dalton?”

Before long you reach San Francisco. It is be (*remove be) a small matter to find a steamship to take all of you down to the isthmus of Panama, cross overland and then find a steamship bound for Atlantic waters.

Indeed." Regina declares, “very well. Out (*our) lands in Texas sold for incredible sums owing to the speculation that a route to California would be laid through there.”

“Yes. That is what saddles are for.” Reginald says, doesn’t quite roll her (*his) eyes.

Ha! So you do get to marry Regina, and Reginald too, for that matter. I’m particularly amused at how Reginald seems to be turned on by a female character dragging him before his father with a noose around his neck and forcing him to get on one knee and propose. @AllenGies, even if it’s too late to add in romances for them, I don’t suppose you’d consider adding a bit more in the way of flirtatious dialogue with them before chapter 10?

Some chapter 10 bugs:

Marshal James flips through page after page of utterly incrimination papers. "Where…

incrimination --> incriminating

2x “I hope this is worth it.” The Gray bearded man says, signs the necessary papers.

says, signs --> says as he signs

“You killed him.” The Elder Upton fumes bitterly.

In this case he’s referring to Regina, so that should be a a “her” not a “him”.

3x “I should have know.” He says as you squeeze the trigger. “I should have–”

know–> known

Regina puts in, raises her monocle to examine the plumage of a swooping bird.

raises–> raising (or: while she raises)

A continual stream of of men labor with mortar, chisel and hammer to closed gaps in the walls, raise up sunken stone foundations and clean the accumulated residue of years of dis-repair.

closed–> close
foundations and clean --> foundations, and clean

She heads off, leaves Regina more than a trifle confused.

leaves–> leaving

“That certain can be useful in unusual circumstances.” Regina admits.

certain–> certainly

"I have made a full study of the flora and fauna of the Nevada.

the Nevada–>Nevada (or: the Nevada desert)

2x “Excellent.” Upton says, "I fully trust my daughter’s judgment in these matter.

these matter --> this matter

“Keep that innovation burning bright and it will serve you well every day of your life.” Regina says to you, stares deep into your eyes.

innovation (awkward) --> sense of innovation (or: talent for innovation)
stares–>staring

@AllenGies, was meant to tell you, in the beginning of chapter 7, I believe, after looking for Schmidt and the crocodile chat, there’s a option saying “Schmidt…mind if I call you Ben ?”, But Schmidt’s first name is Dan

@AllenGies, is Chapter 10 the final chapter, and if so i would love to see the building of my house, living with carrie, owning a hospital/law firm ,have little marshals, and still be marshal of the county. Favorite forum game cant wait till its done!

Just noticed, are there no Legend Points awarded for saving the city from being flooded a couple Chapters back? I saw that it isn’t mentioned in my Legend score.

I also haven’t seen Legend points for Chapter 10, though I guess that’s because it’s still in the rough form?

Another thought, will it also be possible to run as Governor for Nevada? While you obviously would need your real identity, but with the Uptons dealt with (one way or another) and some help from your friends/acquaintances you could pull a sob-story of being forced into hiding by an evil conspiracy, but despite the odds you managed to pull yourself out of it, rising out of the ashes, bringing down the dark mastermind and now, freed from repression and thus returning to the light of life, you turn to help people out in the frontier who greeted with you with so much hospitality and friendship.

You’d have a decent chance of using that story to get elected into offices. People love that crap

i think this game turned out amazing. i wonder how to feels to write something for a long time and finally get close to having it done.

Try putting @ in front of names you mention, it notifies the person.

how do you force regina to marry you?

@trollhunterthethird - Hmm. None of that should matter. The determination of a romance with Yiska takes place solely in the conversation leading up to the action in Chapter 9. If you make him a promise (And have some honor), or fight him in the right way, he takes your word for it.

@piggleywinks -Those are good points. I just put in a scene with Marshal James and Julie. It isn’t much, but it will be there as of the next update.

A final chance to increase your skills isn’t a terribly difficult thing to manage. I’ll put it on the list. Same with more companion reactions. The parting with the MC’s romantic entanglements is definitely needed as well. Can’t believe I overlooked that. Sigh.

@P_Tigras -Glad you liked Reginald’s reaction to being dragged across the country, etc. I wasn’t sure anyone would actually see that since it requires a rare combination to things. And I’ll see if I can punch up the flirt with the dialogue a little, since the marriage outcome didn’t actually crop up until now.

@MIGhunter -Yep, that’s the danger of cutting and pasting code. It may be acceptable architecture, but the details have to be changed in full.

@WizKid4evr - All that will be resolved in the epilogue. At least, it will be once I get to that part.

@Nasdaxow -Huh. I forgot to put in Chapter Six’s happier outcomes. The MC is indeed supposed to get a little legend for certain resolutions to the flood. Not all of them, mind you, but there are some that are noteworthy enough to give a boost.

Becoming the Governor of Nevada? Yeah, that should be possible in certain outcomes of the epilogue. Mind you, it would be more a clamoring from the people for you to run… and I’d leave it at that. The resolution of that part of the story is beyond the scope of the epilogue.

@bocoom -Well, speaking from experience, it feels like pushing my car up a hill. You know the only way to get to the top is with steady effort, not taking a step back or even pausing to rest because the car will try to roll right back down on top of you. But if you can get past the crest, then there will be a sudden rush, a moment when it all gets so much easier.

@LordOfAwesomness - I’ll try that whole @ thing. Mind you, given where my brain is right now, I may forget to keep doing that. Still, it seems worthwhile.

@djma46 -Right now, the only way to have the option to marry Regina/Reginald (and you have to convince them, force doesn’t work) is to not have foiled Upton’s plans. That means taking either the Lackey or the Renegade route and that means that in Chapter seven you have to go in and talk to the Uptons and agree to cut a deal. I know, its a bit thin, but that is how the writing turned out.

Also, you have to be decisively either male or female; no just being the Marshal or the Doc. That choice is, of course, made in chapter 1. Upton expects children and plenty of them.
