Tin Star testing

Ninjasplaycardgames2- Yep, the wording on the Colt needed work. I hadn’t touched Chapter one in some time. Same with Chapter four. Apparently I put in Carson’s name for a Schmidt entry. Thanks for noticing and posting about it.

piggleywinks- Good catch on the Yiska-Caraway relationship when he arrives with the Shoshone. It is a three variable (Yiska as an ally, Caraway as a companion and the three sided relationship) interaction that I just didn’t see.

Schmidt and Yiska at the Red Ribbon mining camp definitely needed more fleshing out and I’ve done just that. Same with going in to treat with the Raiders and your companion’s reaction.

The hands shocking thing… I had assumed the MC would take steps to not have a spark happen, especially when dealing with explosives. But I can probably fit it in a few more times for color.

The spelling of Nelly’s name does change in several places. Apparently I couldn’t quite make up my mind.

No extra influence points for choosing a companions name for a pet because I have no idea how I would code that. :slight_smile:

The ‘I’m a doctor/lawyer/doctor-lawyer/etc not an engineer’ line is going to be put in. Count on it.

Finally finished my first go at the beta. Story-wise, my only complaint is that the wait for Spring went by too fast, I would have liked to spend some time in my house with a certain someone :U

Aside from that, this is probably the best CoG I’ve played yet and I’ll def. buy it as soon as it releases officially :3

found a bug when you summery your epilouge i wont go past even if you click next.

Eventually a man called Steele came calling to Preston Springs. He claimed to be the proper tin-star for Lander County and had all the paperwork to prove it. Marshal Smith took Steele’s arrival as a personal affront, and set about an investigation.

Witnesses were spoken with and evidence gathered. Soon enough, the two Marshal met amid the busy Babylon saloon. Only one of them walked away, and it certainly wasn’t a man named Steele. Marshal Smith saw to that. A later formal investigation by authorities in Carson City would reveal that Steele was indeed impersonating a Marshal.

@AllenGies For the mouse you could make the choice that Carson offers and the text box separate options. Dunno if that’d work, I’m still just a dabbler at best in the 'Script.

@Ninjasplaycardgames2 Or a certain someone(s).

And yeah, totally agreed.

So on a female playthrough I decided to romance Yiska and Maria, and despite the fact that they get naturally get along like chocolate and peanut butter you can’t get it to work out? That’s very disappointing.

@stsword
Yes, that would be sweet. Did you play it thru with high persuasion or high resolve or neither? Maybe one of those would make a difference.

@AllenGies
I can’t believe this thing is nearly done!

I like how you worked out the Epilogue I think it has the perfect amount of closure in my opinion. Covers everyone we could possibly get attached to or have a genuine interest in what happen to them.

…Wait you can get married?! Huh haven’t found that branch yet.

P.S!

I love the Song so much! XD Made me smile.

Reclaimer- Ah, that would be the easy solution. Kind of obvious now that I think about it, but that isn’t a drawback. At least not here. I’ll put it on my list. :slight_smile:

stsword- I could have sworn I wrote a scene for Yiska and Maria and the MC getting together… but I can’t find it. Checking my notes, it appears I removed it because otherwise Yiska gets three possible love linkages to go with the MC. Not a very good reason there.

I did put in a scene where Yiska and Maria fall in love with the MC’s help… but that clearly isn’t enough. Time to go back and write.

Thanks, AG, for the quick response.

And yeah, Piggleywinks, you would have thought that sharing Yiska and Maria would be a non issue when you can get Maria and Carrie to take turns, and they get along like fire and water, so yeah I was quite surprised.

As for charisma I tend to get the “You were such a smooth talker that legend has it you could talk a safe into opening,” I’ve only ever gotten those little comments about charisma and sharpshooting, so what are the entertaining bits about being legendary in the other stats?

Oh AG, I had a thought, when you intervene between the butcher and the tanners, instead of failing to fix the issue, or bullying your way into a partnership with the tanners, how about talking to the butcher and seeing if you can actually get the tanners the deal they want? So that at least on a high persuasion playthrough, that money from the tanners would not be extortion money but your cut from allowing the tanners to make even more money.

Perhaps you could make a deal to buy all the skins from the butcher, so that they don’t have to deal with each other, since you know, the butcher wants to murder him.

Or if the butcher has a valid reason to not agree to such a deal with the tanners, how about making another deal. Yiska's tribe seems to be interested in modernizing, how about arranging a deal with them for their hides? Obviously they wouldn't be interested in selling all their hides, but I don't see them objecting to some gun, horse, or education for their kids money.

So more money in the marshall’s pocket, prevent a murder from happening, and best of all, honest entrepreneurial money instead of a shakedown.

I like your thoughts re: more options surrounding Jeff and the Winthrops.
I also thought there might be room to add Schmidt to the mix since he is friends with Jeff…it could be an opportunity to change your relationship with Schmidt for better or worse…
Or, what about using the situation as another opportunity to talk with JT? Jeff spoke to him about it so he is aware of the tension this is causing in “his little town”. MC: “So this is really how you do business in your little town, JT?”

Some of the other legend stats I have gotten that I got a kick out of are:
There were few situations that you couldn’t defuse with a joke, and few people you couldn’t rile to a murderous rage with just a few words. One Legend point awarded.

Supposedly, one time a wall got in your way and all you did was square your hat and push on through. Three Legend points awarded.

Wyatt Earp, Doc Holiday, Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, Billy the Kid, Anne Oakley, Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone are Legends. To this is added one more; Scarlett Lamb. Your name and fame spreads rapidly until half the states out west have laid some claim to you as their own. Hollywood proves no less voracious, and leading actors vie to don your tin-star on stage and screen as they eagerly seek to bring your tales to the ears of generations to come.

How do you get that last one??

you need a lot of legend points.

Oh yeah, I’ve gotten that “you’re among the western legends” bit too.

Perhaps a reference to tv too though might be considered. Perhaps kids grow up watching the Tin Star along with the Lone Ranger and the Rifleman.

Does having an unusual bullet wound affect the story or give you legend points in any way at all?

Plus, I always thought it would be interesting if you restarted so many times that you actually are famous for being debated on. so the scholars are always debating on whether you survived or not in so many situations.

@Wyrmspawn I would do that just to piss off the future generations, why?

Because i’m Marshal.

EDIT: Sorry Edit didn’t work but; If you choose the title ‘Doc’ do you get set as a spefic gender or is it just up to the player to determine?

Just wondering, but will I ever find out what Wambleeska means?

stsword- That is a good point about Jeff Donner and the Winthrops. I had initially thought to resolve their issue later but the writing just didn’t go that way. As it should be resolved eventually…

I think I’ll try to find the right place to put it in at the end of chapter 3 and develop the usual ways to resolve things. Favorable to Jeff, Favorable to the Winthrops, favorable to yourself, or no one at all. Involving Schmidt and Preston would also be a bonus. (Thanks Piggleywinks) A possible link with the Shoshone is also tempting. I’ll think on it a while.

I’ll try to include this for the next update and throw in a mention of the Lone-Ranger and the Rifleman… wow those take me back.
