Tin Star testing

@AllenGies this game is fucking amazing

I see the legends at the end have been implemented, cool.
I found chapter six to be somewhat shorter than the previous chapters, but perhaps that’s only my perception because I’ve managed to get through it without my character having been in mortal danger. Did like having Yiska with me though.
Also, I couldn’t seem to find the hammer and nails to fix up my office during this playthrough, perhaps you could make that one available until it is bought. On another note I could still select the washboard topic repeatedly in conversation (before chapter six).

My character’s stats at the end of chapter six beta, (btw, the thought of my character running a specialized law practice for doctors getting sued at the beginning of the game made me chuckle. Tiger moms ftw,)

whocares916- Thanks the next chapter… will be a while.

MIGhunter- That’s an odd error, but it should be fixed now. Apparently I can’t have two
options named the same even if they are arrived at differently. Thanks.

bocoom- I appreciate that. What in particular did you enjoy about it?

idonotlikeusernames- Interesting. Apparently I made this chapter complex rather than long. Indeed, now that I reflect upon it, there are several long scenes that occur only if certain previous events in chapter 3 have or have not taken place.

Can I ask what decisions you made with the Shoshone band and the flood (if there was a flood for your play through)?

I could swear I fixed that washboard problem, but apparently not. The hammer and nails is actually a random event. Was it annoying to not find it?

Also, a thirty-eight Legal? I didn’t think it could get that high. Clearly I was mistaken. Still, that gives me some ideas for character choices down the road.

A very interesting data set over all. Especially Cameron’s notoriety. Did you deliberately avoid making waves?

And thank you for playing through so quickly. I get worried about these things.

@AllenGies At first I didn’t give a shit about the town and just wanted to serve my time the leave. But as it went on and there were a few twists and turns in the story and got to know the people in the town a bit more and I started to care more for the town.

@Allengies, for chapter six I had Yiska with me to translate and I was able to persuade the Indians to avoid the town and presumably an incident on the way to their winter hunting grounds. I believe I was also able to get some useful information about the river out of the Indians (though that might have all been due to Schmidt). Thereafter I was able to persuade enough townsfolk and Old Schmidt to help divert the flooding to some empty fields.

In this particular playthrough I tried to the very model of a relatively decent and incorruptible lawman, so what did most surprise me was the high influence with Preston stat at the end, considering I mostly avoided the guy (did ride shotgun for the stagecoach run though that was more out of a sense of duty and some concern for Frank than specifically to help out Preston).

As to the hammer, yes I’d like it to be available on a non random basis as I would very much like to not have a drafty office when winter arrives.

The new Chinese vendor was a nice touch, unfortunately I encountered him just once on my play through (at a time my character was flat broke, unfortunately).

I do have some questions about the evidence gathering in chapter five though, specifically what are the requirements for having a telegraph conversation with the retired Marshal on one hand and sending a telegram to the secretary of the treasury on the other? Are they mutually exclusive, since I’ve failed to get them both on the same play through.

@AllenGies - I don’t think there was anything I didn’t like, but I would of liked more… “Cases” if you want to call them that, more shoot outs, more chances to arrest/shoot/let go people(I am the law after all, my town, and they’ll bend to my demands) And Really liking the mystery side of the story. Had my brain trying to think how i could of been recruited by a dead man and how it was all going to unravel(then it stopped, Noooo!!..lol). Also liked the summery at the end about all the things I did, and knowing my escapades has become legendary. I’ve only had a chance to play once atm so I’m only going on what my first play through was like.

Got chapter 6 done, and I’ve to say, I’ve finally let out some steam on Preston. Maybe enough for him to respect me more.

great chapter 6

While I was playing I enjoyed chapter 6 a lot, but in the previous chapters I think I had an error or something because Smidth wasn’t any where to be found after I brung him and carson to town with me. My score with him was over sixty five so I don’t know why, I couldn’t take him to the mining place or with me to go find Andy. I didn’t see him either when it was time for me to gather evidence. Also in chapter 6 after romancing Yiska I had a repeated encounter with the shishoni again.

bocoom- Glad you began to feel invested in the town. That was my intention after all.

idonotlikeusernames- Okay, I see how you played it through. Rather above board. To be honest, it is hard to die in Chapter 6. I mean, there are only four ways to die in there and they are fairly easy to avoid with a little planning.

The high influence with Preston is not unusual. He likes it when people are brave and honorable, it spares him from having to do the same. You really have to step on his toes, cull his influence or just outright insult him to drive that down. However, I know from other players that this can be readily done; even into negative numbers.

I’m considering sticking the hammer automatically for the first interlude. Thereafter, it will be random if it was not bought. Does that sound appropriate?

The Chinese Vendor will return in Chapter 7. He doesn’t live out in Preston Springs after all but if he’s made enough money, he’ll return to try the market again.

As for the telegraph scenes… none of them should be mutually exclusive. You should be able gather them all up if you wait long enough. At least, that is what I intended. I’ll take a look later today. If you do another play through, could you keep an eye out during that part? It might be that I do not present the options clearly enough.

Dreamwalker- More cases… that is something to consider. Like side quests I would guess. Right now I am busy writing the main story, but I could certainly stick one or two of those in during an interlude after I finish up.

I’m glad you liked the mystery. But that will have to wait to unravel.

Happy- Are you talking about the part where you get to tell Preston how you really feel? Did that resonate for you? I had intended it for a singular purpose, but it may well have gained another.

Do you feel this could be a way for Preston to respect you and your badge, and not just tolerate things as they stand?

12lexy12- Strange. Schmidt should be available unless you’ve done something to piss him off or killed him for that matter. He disappears just after Chapter 2 starts?

Edit: I found out what happened. Apparently I included a status change for him where none should have been. Good catch on your part. Thanks!

And after romancing with Yiska by the river, it looped you back to the encounter with the Six Horns Shoshone?

Edit: Ah, got this one too. The Yiska romance takes place out of sequence of the others and I forgot to adjust the play_in_elko scene to indicate as much. Again, I am glad you noticed this.

I loved this new chapter, it was very intimidating to try and put the town to work, but my results during the previous chapter made it possible. Can’t say I don’t like when the town loves me, ha.

However, I did get to see some mistakes:

  • “Oh, no, Miss {last_name}.” Timothy waves away the notion, “I can’t see why she’d allow it. I’m just a saddler wondering about the bird’s eye view.”

I am not sure if this is a mistake, or just a note you wrote for future you, ha.

  • “Bueno.” She remarks, motions to the chair beside her. “Let us hope that this continues for the both of us.”

This strikes me as odd, the use of the word “Buenos” here, I mean. I have a terrible memory, so I cannot quite recall what the scene was about, but if I get the context right, I’m willing to suggest the expressions: “Me alegro”, “Me da gusto”, “Maravilloso”. I believe she was responding to the PC, who told her about hir day being great so far.

  • “Buenas dias.” He offers, raises the cup in a small salute.

The correct form is Buenos días

The character development was lovely; the characters are more and more human. If I wasn’t so enamoured with Miss Caraway, I’d try María’s romance. I will, though, when the game is complete. That is if I get to play it, of course, I can’t buy games from this website; that service is not available in my country, I’m afraid.

how long do you intend this game to be?

When I was meeting Yiska for the first time there was a choice (“My greeting is more appropriate than than…”).

Probably just need one than there ^^;

Really liked chapter six, especially the talk/showdown/kissyfaces with preston

Well, yes. As long as I don’t overdo it.

kissy faces with preston really
