Tin Star testing

Finished the game and found out Steele is one heckuva Patient man. He waited at least 2 weeks for me to get all of the evidence (Excluding the play), And Maria is creepy. She was smiling at me at a distance with a slight frown. :-?

@AllenGies I sure am!

Oh, and I agree. Caraway is my favourite character so far, I always romance her because I feel she adds something fantastic to the game.

Yeah Caraway its the best, the worst its Maria with a lot of diference. Preston is cool too

Wait you can romance Preston?

I think not

I, for one think Yiská’s the best romance option, though Schmidt isn’t half bad either.
As for the interludes I prefer them before the shopping options, makes it easier to try the varous things for sale and tweak minor variables for each replay or playtest.

@AllenGeis Everytime I would shoot and wound Tumbleweed without saying a word. It also happens when I sneak up behind him and shoot him in the back.

Why are people so slow to reply on here… :-W

@Roslyn_samalt06
cause we got real lifes to live :slight_smile:

Yeah but still dear god it takes at least all day for an answer

Roslyn_samalt06- Sorry for the tardy reply. I only check in here every two days or so. Lots to do, especially with the holidays coming.

As for your question, can you romance Preston? As others have indicated, it is not an option at present.

I also don’t see it becoming an option as Preston is more of a spur for most of the story. Furthermore, as things move toward the final crisis, he has a certain role to play in things and that would be disrupted if he were part of a romance. Moreover, from a character point of view, he’s just not interested. He has several ladies whose company he enjoys and also no need for lingering affections as he is driven by his desire to see his town and himself prosper.

However, nothing is set in stone. Did you (Or Marajade for that matter) have an interest in seeing a romance with Preston? I should warn you, the writing has already become complicated as the possibility of multiple romances begins to play out. Four romances, three possible conflicts among the paramours to start. Twelve threads to follow. This will essentially double in the event of a four-square romance. Thankfully, adding an all-in section where all four romances collide will be a single outcome.

idonotlikeusernames- I agree. A save before the shopping expedition seems preferable. More control at the cost of extending the length will probably be better for early players.

Spyfox259-I’ll look into the bug. Both initially when Tumbleweed is just outright shot and again when you have the option to tell Preston you sent him off. Probably just a wrong number for a variable, but having a dead man talk to you as if nothing happened does need to be fixed.

Yes i was looking preston for my straight girl romance :-W My bisexual mara is with caraway the male romances are horrible ajjjj :0& A freak lawyer and a old prospector… my mental picture dont see them atractive .the west was crowded of single men why the two can be my only options? If at least one of them was Brad Pitt …

Oh, and does anybody know what Pets do? Also, sorrel Mules and male Mice are awesome.

Maria’s romance is still in process, I believe, I’m willing to give it a shot once it is complete. The idea of romancing her brings interesting scenarios, and I’d like to see how it develops.

Caraway is by far the best romance, if you are going for a free spirit that only obeys rules ze wishes to follow. She’s a darling and I admit I love this character.

Schmidt’s case is the same as Maria’s.

I actually really liked Yiska’s romance, how he is amused by the PC’s very presence.

I also admit I kind of thought about Preston as a romance option; a slap-slap-kiss type of relationship could bloom rather easily, and while Preston has lots of pretty ladies around him, I bet he couldn’t resist a Caraway-like wild flower, or a character that can get the necessary stats to be seen as the most attractive woman/man in town. Then again, I considered Carson as well, ha.

The only thing I’d like to add is that, if there is a new male character avalaible for a romance, I’d like to see another female. To keep it even, I mean.

@AllenGies Did you write Maria’s upset dialogue already? If you need help, I’m here.

think i would sooner shoot Preston than ever kiss that worm :slight_smile:

MaraJade- I think I see your point about the male romances. There is a need for a smooth talking, well outfitted scoundrel and Preston fits the bill. Thankfully, it isn’t too late to add that. Indeed, Chapter 6 has turned out to have more romance in it than I had expected.

So, here are my thoughts about a Preston romance. First of all, I am going to make him more physically attractive initially. Not that he wasn’t, I just hadn’t focused on that. Second, as VoodooDolly alluded to, there is going to be that slap-slap-kiss intensity to him because, well, that is who he is; a gambler who won big but still likes living on the edge. But more importantly, I need him to have a reason to open up and Chapter Six provides that because it puts his town in danger.

VoodooDolly-That’s good feedback. I like to hear what people like and don’t about a character. It gives me perspective.

In particular, I would be interested to hear what sort of scenarios you (Or anyone for that matter) have mused about concerning the romances. I am feeling stretched thin with the programming requirements because each chapter grows more and more complex as the total number of variables increases.

As for the dialogue, I have been sidetracked by a few alterations to Chapter 5 when I realized I needed to have a way for people to start a late romance there with Caraway and Yiska. But one line has come forth; “Why did I choose the difficult one?” This is a sotto voce reference to the Player’s character following the revelation that there are other romantic entanglements.

Now, I can always throw those words into Google Translate, but there is a certain poetry to the language I want to keep. If you need to change words, articles or verbs, that is fine, just so long as the meaning shines through for a native speaker.

I really appreciate your help on this. My Spanish dates back to eight grade and I only got a B+ in the class.

Happy- Right now, the pets don’t do much of anything as I haven’t had time to focus on what they could do. I have a few thoughts on them for chapters seven and eight. but if you have some ideas, I would love to hear them.
