Tin Star testing

Bloodwyche- I found what you meant about the duplication. I apparently split a sentence where the duel with Tumbleweed was concerned and never realized it. That is fixed and will be uploaded at the next mini-update. Thanks.

Question remains how do you get Yiska to like you enough to not fob you off in chapter five though? Like I said, I was succesful with Yiska just once also, I usually resolve the Red Ribbon Mining situation by blowing up the dam, so I guess Yiska doesn’t like that particular solution very much.

Can you romance Schmidt yet or can you do it when the Steele case is brought up? Yeah put up a tutorial for a diplomatic solution with red ribbon mining please can’t figure out how to do it without killing someone or blowing up the dam

@AllenGies

Found something for your mini-update

I got Word that the Red Ribbon mining camp got hit. Should read: I got word that the Red Ribbon mining camp got hit.

people are saying they were hit my Indians. Should read: people are saying they were hit by Indians

Have you gotten in anythings special for rifles? Should read: Have you gotten in anything special for rifles?"

idonotlikeusernames- Ah, found an error in the conclusion to the Red Ribbon mining affair. Failed to give the Yiska bonus for several additional outcomes. Given that he had a cease and desist order, and was held hostage against his will, he figures it is right and proper to blow up the dam. Glad you caught that.

Do you feel that an influence requirement is a good thing for a Romance? As you point out, not having the option can be annoying.

Roslyn_samalt06- Romance with Schmidt should be possible both before chapter five under certain circumstances but is definitely available during that chapter.

Seeking a diplomatic solution with the Indian Warband in chapter 3 shouldn’t be difficult. But as I did write the whole thing, I might have missed something.

What do you recall about the choices that were available when you played through?

Bloodwyche- Yes… more typos for the typo-god! :slight_smile:

When is Schmidt romanceable because I always pick Schmidt for the trip over to the mine and nothing ever pops up for romance
@AllenGies

Well, an influence/friendship check is by far the most traditional way of initiating a videogame romance. The much lambasted Dragon Age 2 did try to be original in that regard by allowing both the traditional friendship and a new rivalry romance, however by doing that, while you render influence basically irrelevant when it comes too choosing your potential romantic partner, you’d also roughly double or even treble (if you want to include a neutral option too) the amount of romance scenes you’d need to write.
While I generally tend to like a bit of romance in my games such an effort might be a bit too much when romance is not the thematic focus of the game.
About the diplomatic solution, I swear I got it once (likely the same playtrough I was succesful with Yiska) but I also can’t remember exactly how I did it or what kind of stats I had at the time, like I said I usually prefer destroying the dam, with or without pyrotechnics.

Yeah you got a point with DA2, all the romance interaction is horrible, everybody is bisexual, i never try to romance the silly Merril dont bother she flirt with me like if i did it, and she hate me when i refuse. Doesnt matter because she is with the team anyways. How i miss DAO :-S

I still prefer the everybody is bi (or PC sexual) to what they did in Jade Empire with the token gay option that is damned difficult to get to boot. Allowing everybody to choose the potential romantic interest that best suits their fancy gives players more choice, at the expense of some real world “realism” but I can’t see anything inherently wrong with that since most video games defy “reality” as we know it anyway.
It’s more the decreasing quality of writing and scenario design at Bioware (ME3 ending *cough* *cough*) and sliding standards or quality control since the takeover that is to blame for that than having every possible romantic interest always be responsive to player character advances.

Yeah i like play with gay characters even im straight my best friend is homo and he feels bad when he cant romance. But i hate is that characters act like im flirt if i not, i never go with merril dont matter, she try to seduce me anyway, feels off

In DAO I would have prefered it if they had made Morrigan bisexual instead of leliana.

@MaraJade Just think about how awesome DA3 will be.

Yeah , my lady macbeth felt very pissed when she cant, and i like the psico leliana. I got a 4 with zebran isabella her and my red head character.and about the 3 if will be the nail in the bioware coffing. A great shame , bioware and bethesda are the ones i believe…

im probably a minority on this but i find everyone in a game being bi kinda stupid
yeah you might find one or two bi people in your group but seven or eight of them,COME ON!!!

I prefer a character sexual defined, but you can conquisted him or her , it will be a lot of difficult achieve some romance but it feels a lot more natural and it will be a funny chalenge

If a game is going to have romance they should at least make it realistic.

I prefer sexualities to be defined. I view sexuality as another aspect of the character, not a game mechanic. Ideally, this means that homosexual options would be present just like straight options.

Sorry to derail the thread.

For Tin-Star I am not defining sexuality, not via the Kinsey Scale or Klein’s Grid. That takes too much coding. Instead I suggest that if a player does not want the option, the player should not select the option that initiates it. Thus for their story, things set at neutral or perhaps practical.
