Tin Star testing

And i had 19 points

Descent- I’ll put clarifying that on my list of things to do. Maybe give him a bit of growling and cursing as he lurches off into the desert.

Matteller- Thanks for the data set. And yes, I should include a penalty for Preston’s influence if you refuse the bribe. I mean, he can still respect you if you refuse, but what he really wants is control.

Notoriety is a little difficult to gain right now outside of a few large events. It is intended to reflect things that you’ve done that have made others take notice. Blowing things up, gunfights, etc, should all give an increase. I’ll eventually be going back through the chapters to take a look at updating that.

Mistylavenda- I think you mentioned the name Niu, but I’m inclined to keep it in the progam. I’ll just put a gender lock on it for the next update.

ArchAngel950- The trait of having been struck by lightning comes up in only a few parts and only once is it significant. Later on it might matter (Don’t handle nitroglycerin) but for right now it doesn’t do all that much.

PaleStrider- Ah, a good guy data set but somehow you’ve managed to make money. Haven’t seen that before.

Nice artwork too. Is it yours?

Bezment78- The companion troubles of chapter 3 are really building up. It seems I shall have play my own game several times and see where the character trouble begins.

Which companion did you initially choose for Chapter 3? Carson, Schmidt or both?

Will you be able to be a native American

Vampierkid222- You have a very social character there. High Persuasion and Intimidate. How did that work out for you?

And during which portion did you manage to get shot?

It worked out fine i got almost what ever i wanted and i think i got shot when i took down the dam.

I took money from Schmidt and carson at the first, and when I killed the bear i sold the meat and the hide to the red ribbon mine folks before blowin the dam

I took no bribes, and I did not work with Preston, but he still really liked me

And yes I drew that myself, thanks
If you want anything done for your game let me know

@allen gies both

PaleStrider- Ah, the fees and the bear explains it. Good to know that players find it possible to gain some wealth without having to take a bribe. This will be important later when I get the interlude set up.

And thank you for your offer. I may indeed inquire about art if my regular artist is busy. She has a new job and just moved, but may be settled in soon and able to freelance again. Then too there is the possibility of inserting pictures into the story, particularly concerning the dime-novels (Some based your own exploits) that might be available for purchase at the general store in between chapters.

Bezment78- Okay, I think I tracked it down. A bizarre little hitch I put in without realizing it when I switched from a purely companion variable to a companion and status variable system; there is an on/off for having a certain companion with you, while another tracks their current condition (Alive, dead, fled or enemy). Apparently I put in a status override when I was first mucking about and didn’t change it until now.

Thanks for helping me settles this bug. It could have been rather annoying later on.

Oh I like your dime store novel idea

And no problem I’m sure she is better qualified than I am, I don’t even have a graphic pad,
I did that picture on my iPad
Just throwing it out there, I love drawing cowboys  but if you need me I will be around

That Ben Carson and Dan Schmidt became friends, despite being very different people, is a tale often told and retold to children about the value of a handshake and apologizing when they are wrong. Three Legend points awarded.

Bringing down a bear is a rare event. For years to come, people still talk about you, the berry bushes and that hungry grizzly. Three Legend points earned.

The bloodless ambush at the Red Ribbon Mining site quickly becomes a cautionary tale for any company operating out west. No matter what lesson the listeners draw from it, they come away quite certain that you must have had something to do with it. Three Legend points awarded.

Your negotiated settlement with Red Ribbon provides a bounty to the Newe for many years. The song of it is incorporated into their tribal tales and endures for generations. One Legend point awarded.

Your fight with the Hartigan gang spreads from town to town like wildfire, much to the chagrin of many a lackluster sheriff. Held up as the epitome of what being a law-man is supposed to do, the incident works its way into modern police text-books. Four Legend points earned.

There are no variations to your tale. It is told, strong and true. Five Legend points awarded.

Your efforts throughout Lander Country are numerous and remembered, but the name Logan Slaughter. refuses to stick in collective memory. Only a few plaques and memorials hint at the truth, though any scholar in the region worth his salt knows the details.

yippee i helped take down a bug
this is my first time taking down a bug

PaleStrider- We’ll see. The art generally comes last and I’ve got months of work ahead, at least according to my present pace.

Mardam- Ah, that is one of the first Legend logs I’ve seen. How did you like the summary? Are there any improvements that come to mind?

Bezment78- One bug down, and a tricky bug at that.

On the subject of Dime-novels. I’ve got a few titles in hand for the dime-novels in the general store, but I’d like to add a few more and so I thought I’d open the floor for ideas.

‘Miss Caraway’s Last Round’- is the story of Miss Carway getting gunned down in the Mother-Lode Saloon when you first meet her. The Writer gets a lot wrong, including most of Miss Caraway, but then that is par for the course where these novels are concerned.

‘The Golden Stagecoach’- This pops up if you manage to out run Hartigan’s opposition.

I need one (a better one than mine anyway) for fighting Hartigan’s gang in Echo Canyon.

Another for taking over the Red Ribbon mining camp, though not for the slaughter of the entire site. That’s ‘Bloody Slaughter at Red Ribbon Mining’. Hmm… that could probably use some work too.

A title based on just about any exciting scene or incident might be worthwhile. Don’t forget to suggest the author’s name too if you have a good one.

It seems like I got high points and got max legend in most things, but the conclusion seemed like I didnt do very well

Half a point could be awarded for not taking bribes since everyone remembers you were honuerble or sonething

Exactly, same with me, no matter how good i did my conclusion makes it seem like i didnt do to good. Might want to tweak that Allen.

Mardam and Cloudian- The conclusion was indeed a bit of a downer. That much legend should have something more upbeat. I’ll better adjust things as the legend and notoriety points settle down. After all, Chapter four is only the halfway point for the story.

I had originally budgeted for a hundred points of Notoriety and Legend. Notoriety is intended to mark how well your name is known in your time. Legend is intended to be how long your deeds remain in collective memory.

The two stats intersect at the conclusion.

With just notoriety, you are a fierce devil or saint who swiftly fades into obscurity like John Wesley Hardin. With only Legend your marvelous deeds tend to be amalgamated with other names and guises (Like rangers and the Lone Ranger). With both Notoriety and Legend, it is the best of both worlds; to stride as a colossus and be recognized. Davy Crockett comes to mind for this.

Does this make sense?

And yes, I should put in something for not taking any bribes. That is definitely deserves at least a point of legend. Perhaps taking multiple bribes then deserves a bit of Notoriety at the end.
