I think you should be able to romance both miss calloway ( i forget the woman in the salons name) and have a relationship with her and use her as a compaion like a bonnie and clyde except following the law barley. Also have the option to romance another one without being their compaion and you could romance both of them and choose between the
Mistylavenda- That is a good break down of the names, north and south. Some names I grabbed at random from the lists you linked to previously, others went on it because they sounded good or had meanings that were interesting. If more than one or two belonged to a celebrity, that is probably just a coincidence.
I’ll start adjusting the naming portion of the game accordingly. Incidentally, there is already an option for the player to type in a choice of name. Apparently it is not too visible though.
Going to go write now. I owe you one.
Oh, I see… there isn’t a write in for the names on the Chinese list. For that you’d have to go back into the main by choosing a specific option. Fixing that now, on my master copy anyway.
So far a brilliant story and I can not wait for more.
The only real problem I have noticed is and odd spacing problem on few of the pages:
"hold dear is in "
"Well, Nevada ain’t what you’d call populous. The first white man to take a gander at the parched deserts and high mountains " (There are a couple more on that page)
I will be more than happy to point out all of them for you if you wish.
EDIT: there is at least 2 tabs inbetween ‘deserts’ and ‘and’
Pace675- Any odd spacing certainly needs fixing. That’s a hazard of my puzzle-box style of programming and I appreciate any portions that you can point out.
Just a little update: I only get the the spacing issue with IE9, looks perfect with Google Chrome. I am curious if anyone else has the weird issue with spacing with IE9.
Irregardless IE9 spacing issue(s): http://www.choiceofgames.com/forum/discussion/comment/32286/#Comment_32286
I have plenty more I can post but I am holding onto them in case it is just my system.
(lol don’t ask me why I posted that there…too many tabs >.<)
I think this phrase needs a little rework:
“Dealt with? I think of cards here that phrase. But yes, he’s in your jail, as he ought to be.” Preston notes.
“Dealth with? I think of cards hearing that phrase. But yes, he’s in your jail, as he ought to be.” Preston notes.
Thanks Pace675, that’s a huge heap of help. Apparently acquired a bit of a writing tick for some passages that is invisible at a casual glance of the programming.
Sorry for the delay in getting back with you. I had been attending Gen-Con in Indianapolis for the past four days. Had lots of fund, but now it is back to work for me… which includes this.
It turns out there is far more than just the bits listed to fix. The invisible errors can be found almost every time certain criteria is met (When two lines of dialogue or action are set together), even though they do not always affect the visible spacing. For now, let me ask for no more comments on spacing until there is an update.
I would like stats increases in the same style of apex patrol and damn all your games take a while to load
@AllenGies Oh I know about the additional errors had about 75% covered, but posted them in the wrong forum >.< but saved the list in notepad, had to edit the other 2 following posts so not to spam the other forum.
Mardam- Apex Patrol did seem to have the stats it needed. Alas, Tin Star felt like it required more than a few general stats and/or traits. And now, of course, I am committed to writing it one way and could not change it without grievous difficulty. And you are correct, all my games take a while to load because they are large files. I could cut Apex Patrol down by a few hundred K, but that is for another day.
Do you not like the percentage bars in general or is there something more specific? What are your thoughts on the matter? (This is open to anyone really)
Pace675- I appreciate your efforts. It has made me analyse my writing and thus I discovered my programming tic. It occurs when two or more lines of text are coded in; I never tap enter to terminate a line in case I have to go back and add or revise (because I invariably do). This exclusion often allows additional and invisible spaces and tabs to creep in undetected which then upsets the overall spacing.
Now I am adjusting my habits to make that otherwise. This should also solve another problem that I had come up against during editing.
Okay, here is a Beta Test request. Could someone, or multiple people for that matter, post the skill scores they held at the end of chapter 3? I’d like to make sure that I am not setting the difficulty too high or too low.
For that matter, has anyone managed to get their character killed yet? If so, at what part?
Gunfighting 49
Sharpshooting 47
Brawling 33
Riding 35
Survival 34
Legal 14
Engineering 10
Explosives 19
Persuasion 40
Intimidate 31
Stamina 20
Resolve 25
Lol the only death I have incurred was in the very beginning, take 6 in the gut. Been wounded and badly wouned on numerous occations.
I got killed by a bear when filling my mouth with berries.
@AllenGies i’ve played through several times and i have to say i enjoy it at the difficulty its at now, but upping the amount of fighting in it would be awesome, I’d like to get to use my gun more often.
I got killed by the bear more than once (before I figured out the proper way to Get The Hell Out Of There when I’m not playing a sharpshooter), and once by going psycho on the posse without having the badassery to back that up.
Multiply on the bear before I understood you need sharpshooting to win this!
Thanks Pace675, that’s exactly the kind of data set I need. More would be better, but you have certainly done your part.
itsacow- The bear scene is pretty harsh, especially if you aren’t expecting it. Glad to see I didn’t telegraph things too much. Of course, that really only works once.
Ramidel- The posse got one? Good to know that can actually happen because then the coding of it wasn’t a waste of time.
Player and Ramidel- Yep, Sharpshooting is the primary skill for the scene if you want to kill the beast. A bear makes for a big target, but unless you hit it somewhere vital you are just pissing it off. I talked to a few people who hunted bears and they all said the same thing; make your first shot count because it may be all you get.
Cloudian- Rest assured, there will be the option for plenty of gunplay in chapter four. In fact, if you want to do your job as Marshal, you’ll almost certainly have to skin your smokewagon and get to work.
I be happy to run through more data sets (so I can see more of the stry paths) but that is the primary set I tend to end up with.
@AllenGies: Well, it’s an unlikely event because of how self-selecting it is. If a PC is psychotic enough to get the posse on their tails in the first place, the odds are going to be pretty good that that PC will have the skills needed to gun them down too.
And I personally hope that a really savvy Marshal could do a completely pacifist run, but it might not be fitting for the game.
