I too thought it might be a coincidence, and would not have asked if the name or personality was different, but noooo my spider senses were tingling. I was exposed to CoG through a fellow RPG gamer, so I take both as serious as the other.

Because I haven’t played dragon age inquisition since September 2015

Oh come on! It wasn’t fair. First I spent hours saying to myself “Remember to romance Sera” then I spent, no wasted, hours trying to romance her. Then got screwed over. Now my male Inquisition characters are stuck with Cassandra. I’ll let the horror sink in. Ok I actually do have to go, or my teacher is gonna kill me. I’ll be back here in, like, three hours.

Cass is great. My hero. Sera’s a bitter racist who undergoes no noticeable character development… but she’s full of good banter, and speaks with a Derbyshire accent, which is always a bonus in my eyes. Dorian’s my favvvvve~

People moaned that the characters in DA2 were all bi, now they moan that gay characters are gay and not available to them. Make your mind up, I say. All the straight men on the forums moaning that Cass was their “only” choice, and was too “mannish” and “ugly”. Ugh.

I played Dragon Age Inquisition and completely failed to think of the Sera there when playing the demo!

My favorite characters in that game was the iron bull, Varric, Cole, vivienne, and
Josephine Montilyet

I’ve never played or watched anyone play Dragon Age: Inquisition :joy: Seraphina is a reference to a fanfiction of a book series that I really love, and Carrie (who used to be Cassie) has a similar personality to one of the main character of a book I studied for English Literature and a similar name :joy:

I was actually afraid of somebody accusing me of drawing too heavily on that aforementioned book series for inspiration, but my fears have been unfounded so far. :relaxed:

My favorite characters were Dorion, Iron Bull, Varric, and of course, Sera. My party members were almost always Solas or Dorian (post dlc), Blackwall, and Iron Bull.

And since Mystjerne has just said that they are unrelated, i will now at this time, stop using this comment thread for Dragon Age discussion.

Hmm… I’m going to need to find out the name of this book series. Lol,Jk.

I understand only too well about drawing on certain elements from characters in one book, and then, in turn, using the parts I liked for my own characters. Although, seeing as to how I have the highest reading score in the state of Alaska, I also should have been strong enough not to do it, but most of the time I really can’t help myself.

By the way, This sounds like really promising storyline and I can’t wait to see more. So as far as demos go, for it’s length, quality, and word count, I would, at this time, give it an 8 out of 10. Although, I’m not really one to be judging, seeing as to how I (probably) won’t even attempt to make a CoG or a Hosted Games. Not saying I can’t, just saying I probably won’t. So, like I said, this seems like a really promising game, and I really want to see more about it.

No, this game goes back a lot further than that I think. I know this game was around before dashingdon’s site existed.

@Mystjerne When did you first release the original demo? I’m getting the strongest sense déjà vu as well as a vague sense of nostalgia. If I’m getting nostalgia vibes from this then I would guess that it’s been around for at least four years.

Anyway, I’m glad to see this game revived. I remember being intrigued by it… not much else. Too early still in the game to tell where it’s going.

@WIre_Ryse Dude/Dudette, could you please use the edit tool next time? It’s that pencil looking thing right below your post. Much preferred (and cleaner) over quadruple posting.

And to everyone else, I didn’t realise I was in the Dragon Age thread. I’ll just leave now to prevent myself from posting spoilers for those who haven’t finished the game yet.

P.S. Solas betrays you!

Thank you  I try!

Don’t worry, you didn’t come across as a jerk or anything

whistles loudly and determinedly I have no idea what you’re talking about. :innocent::innocent::kissing_smiling_eyes::kissing_smiling_eyes:

On a more serious note, I’ve actually been working on The Winter Child for around…two years now? I only started seriously working on it a few months ago (which is why I said a few months in the first post) and the only other demo I’ve posted is on dashingdon’s site. I have no idea where you might have come across it before. :joy:

Personally, I don’t think this game needs romance, especially when I saw that we were playing as a fourteen-year-old. Need it even less when I think of how I’ll be so distracted by the adventure and fantasy (packing up our bags? ROAD TRIP! ROAD TRIP!) that I won’t even notice the absence of it.

Buuuuut, romance is just something you kinda start to come to expect when it’s implemented as an option in just about every game on this website. Not saying that this means you’re required to add it in as well, just that a lot of people are gonna assume that it’s there. And if it’s about age, there’s romance in 6th Grade Detective and we’re twelve. It was all light, cute, and fun (and written in small doses)! Would romance be all that much different at fourteen?

…I have no idea!

So, yeah, I can see where the difficulty in adding it in would be. :joy: Even more so when you say you haven’t written much romance before. But, hey, no time like the present, I guess?

Also, you should totally keep the option of killing Seraphina and continuing on the story without her. Early on, there’s major option for replayability! The scene that comes up when we kill her made me especially interested in the effects that’ll have on our character’s psyche for the rest of the game.

Sorry man. I always have trouble identifying people’s gender over the internet.

Also, curiosity killed the cat, you must now face the consequences of your actions.

This is Charlie. Due to your curiosity, you just killed him. You heartless monster! How could you?! It just wanted your love and care! But NO! You just HAD TO fall prey to your curiosity and kill him by clicking on that spoiler tag!

Poor Charlie. May you rest in peace.

Are you certain? I could’ve sworn it was around far earlier. If it wasn’t, then it was a story that was eerily similar to this one. The setting, characters, and even the events are all extremely familiar. I supposed I could’ve dreamed up this story several years ago and it’s now manifesting in a physical form. I’m not sure what but… this whole thing is getting weird. So let’s just ignore all of this and hope that no one else notices my odd foresight.

 @Lord_Zant, Completely out of curiousity, what are your favourite 4 numbers?

Edit: Oh, erm, am I getting ahead of myself? You don’t have to answer me if you don’t want to!

I like it but you might as well take out the option of not going into the forest. I didn’t like having to restart.

My foresight doesn’t really help me with the lottery, but you’re still welcome to try.

Adorable??? I found her a psycho witch worse than Emma. In fact I just left her to death who is a bad fake_choice i didn’t like. I have to save someone who is stupid and directly try to ruined my life several years. So i choose kill the spoiled rat choice. Sadly, game thinking I am sad about that and want to save her, I don’t even for all the money in the earth. I would love a I don’t care about her choice and a I go with the winter hot guy to obtain powers and other stuff.

AWoah, I guess that’s another way of looking at it.

‘winter hot guy’ choking on laughter uh
I guess his frosty reception didn’t deter you then?

On a more serious note, Jack kind of…reacts badly to MCs who try to leave family to their deaths right off the get go. Even if that’s the rational choice to make. As you experienced. He’s a murdering bastard, but at least he’s a murdering bastard that strongly believes in family and the importance of loved ones. So he tries to kill the two of you together in one fell swoop, at least at first.

I guess this means that he’s pretty much 100% not going to betray you if you earn his loyalty. Seraphina being dead means you’ll have a tough time gaining any points with him, though.

@Ninja, noted! Thank you for your feedback

@Lord_Zant (was I that transparent haha) and I sure as heck am gonna
