Oh it’s not a problem per se, I don’t need them to say it in text so to speak, but I want to feel it rather than think we’re fine now only for M to go “this means nothing” (again)

More forced stupidity from M is what we’ll get. I had thought that maybe if A-mancers got a relationship in b4, M might “realize” their feelings, at the very least (instead of being a mouth-breather who can’t find their way out of a box), but if A-mancers aren’t getting a relationship, there’s no way in hell M will get out of stupid-mode.
Yep, this is what we’ll get. And, if we even get sex scenes, we’ll have to try to decipher wtf is happening in those, too.
From what I’ve read in the code, MC is already forced to start realizing they have feelings. My M-mancer was intentionally oblivious until the bakery scene, and then she realized it. M will insist it’s not love for another full book or two, at least, and even then, I don’t think it’ll be said.
Bingo.
That was, indeed, me. And I still wholly believe it. There was a tumblr ask I’ve put up quite a few times, wherein Mishka states, “the MC will just know how M feels about them”. That’s as close to a declaration from M we’ll get, had I to bet.
That’s not a deal breaker for my M-mancer, but she’ll always doubt that he loves her, no matter what is forced on the MC to believe. Without M saying it–and M stating he doesn’t want to be with anyone but her–she’ll figure he’s still fucking other people, too.
Don’t hold your breath, lol.

We’ll probably get some iteration of this once per book until the very last page of B7. Then we’ll be safe, lol.

M I care u, A I care u, but I won’t wait until Kanye west becomes president for real in 2035 to see if I can get a proper smooch without being left in the rain like a clown afterwards

It might go from M calling MC a slam pig to M stating outright that they don’t want to be in a relationship. “I don’t know what this is, but you know I don’t do relationships, sweetheart…”

And my Detective throws M for an absolute loop with “OK, that’s fine?” (he doesn’t really do traditional relationships, either)

Sounds of windows 98 crashing heard from M’s head

Mine would say it, and believe she believes it, then sigh a lot when she thinks M is out fucking the next notch on his headboard.
I wish she was the type to say fine and then proceed to date people. “You didn’t want a relationship. I’m going out with Tane.”
M won’t weasel out of this so easily, lol.
I mean, I know my character would agree to an open relationship/be non-monogamous, but I’m certain that would never be considered remotely close to a happy ending. It would never be an option.

This is honestly what I was referring to.
N’s scenes were so straightforward and clear in what was happening but M’s left me scratching my head and doing double takes. The writing uhh style? approach? was just so wildly different. It was really odd.

Well, that’s why I said the MC will be forced to “believe” M loves them (even when M doesn’t say it) and that M is committed (even though M never commits). The other three will get outright commitments and declarations of love–with M, you get a psychic MC and M acting like they’re with the MC without ever stating it.
Every effort to make a good scene was thrown into N’s, because N is “the perfect RO”. M is always dead ass last and a lot of things said on tumblr make it seem like the author really doesn’t like M at all–so it makes sense the sex scenes are poorly written for them.

Not seeing how A’s scenes are written (and possibly never getting to see them, haha) it’s hard to tell, but it feels like everyone gets a different style of writing for their sex scenes.
With M’s being sort of floaty and euphemistic(?) and N’s scenes being more typical of what you see in run-of-the-mill erotica I was sufficiently thrown off in B2 and B3…
I mean, this is debateable; not everyone would be into this kind of sex scene (several have said so on this thread, if I’m not mistaken).
I can appreciate the effort, and I do see what the author is trying to say with them, but yeah I’m not sure it always works as well as it could, mostly just from a technical writing standpoint, imo (though I actually find that I don’t mind the M scenes that much?)
Sex scenes are such a challenging thing to write, write well, and appeal to as many people as possible; everyone has words they hate or acts they find gross, etc.

Yes! I was actually thinking in book 3 especially it seems like shes trying to write in a way that fits the ‘theme of the character’ but imo its not really working out so hot.
Im with ya on this for book 2. I actually really enjoyed M’s scenes in that one. They were written in a way that wasnt super detailed but you could still tell what was going on and the scene didnt get lost in its own wording. It didnt leave you feeling like a dunce lol. Book 3 was a strange downgrade.

Oh yeah sex scenes are weird to say the least … and uh controversial spicy take, but you can also sorta tell where most of the attention went? I play both het and gay/lesbian detectives and idk I remember a bitter aftertaste
but that goes into sensitivity readers territory-ish and we know how that goes in wayhaven.
Having to decipher smut is the cherry on top when your favorites are A and M and u have to deal with their own morse code.

Does anyone have any information on book four? Any demos.
Exactly how I feel. I liked the ones in b2–they were well written, despite not being very detailed (I’m not sure how detailed you can get in these games, anyway, before you get into trouble). But b3’s sex scenes for M were just awful. Half the time, I didn’t know wtf was going on.
You have to deal with their Morse code in every aspect of their paths.
@Carloshmc2812 Here’s the link to the b4 demo:

It’s just chapter 1 and 2… that’s all that’s out so far.

Okay, now I want to see a part of the book written in Morse code. I’d hate to read it, but I’d love to see it.

OMG so true! While reading the discussion about the poor quality of M’s sex scenes, I caught myself thinking: “if only my gay male MC got the same scenes as straight female MCs, I would actually be happy with it!”
Trust me guys, gay scenes are so much worse. Although not quite as bad, but the same problem persists in N’s much less confusing scene: some wording in the gay version was watered down, and as a result the scene is less explicit and hot than the het one.

Exactly that! The het scenes feel a little weird because the wording is sometimes confusing, see M’s scenes, but the gay ones? Those are lowkey a nothingburger. They feel so lacking in detail and clinical idk how nobody said anything.
Normally I would say it’s not that big of an issue, but a) this game in theory revolves around romance b) it’s weird how only the gay scenes got that treatment. If they were both lacking equally, then I wouldn’t have pointed it out.
