“Evil is always possible. And goodness is eternally difficult.”
― Anne Rice, Interview with the Vampire
You are the vampire who rules over your kind in Mordhaven, MI. You will have to employ your cunning to survive the nights and keep yourself as the dominant force in the dark, crime-infested streets. How will you pull the strings amidst the clashing armies of vampires, gangs, and hunters?
ABOUT THE GAME
The Vampire Regent is a political horror interactive novel by Fernando B. Neves and Lucas Zaper that features:
You can choose from four bloodkin, each one with a respective art (power):
Balkanic. The primeval vampiric blood, tracing back to ancient tales in Eastern Europe. With the Transmutation art, Balkanics can morph into a flying creature, usually an owl, a raven, or a bat.
Neshmaal. A lineage that derives from Egyptian cultists. With the Enfever art, Neshmaals can alter their blood temperature, blending easier into interactions with humans. Through physical contact, they can also change the warmth of a target, which is lethal to humans, who usually die of a febrile convulsion after a few seconds.
Aznuit. An American bloodline of mystic vampires. Their art, the Scrying, functions in two ways; Aznuits might experience random sensorial insights about events that will happen shortly, and they can also perform blood rituals that unveil events which are to occur in a distant future.
Merovingian. If vampires are known to be seductive and manipulative fiends, it is due to this Western European lineage. With the Induction art, a Merovingian can flatten or exacerbate the current emotions of a human victim through visual contact.
You will experience how it is to be a vampire ruler over a period of a month. Every night counts—literally.
The game includes more than sixty random events, that range from drinking blood in a bar to following the leads of a secretive cult. Oh, and playing some poker, too.
Being a politician that is not exactly alive anymore, you will have to acknowledge clashing desires. Fail to cause a good impression on the mayor, or escalate the tension with the outlaw vampires, and you might suffer severe consequences.
Okay, you’re immortal and all, good for you. That doesn’t mean, though, that you have to be alone. Currently, there are four planned ROs in the game (two already implemented). Each RO has a respective side-story with possible consequences on the main story.
There are many attribute checks in the game, just like your good old tabletop RPG. Do you want to punch that bouncer in the face? The game checks your Physique. Or perhaps do you want to sweet talk your way through? Fine, your Manipulation will be checked. Or do you want to analyze him first? You will have to pass a Perception check, in this case.
