How’s the game looking?
Hey!
So by this point I know I’m bad at estimations because of multiple things in my life not being stable in the sense that I can’t stay home and write, but I’m 100% sure that by the end of August Chapter 1 will be fully out.
Had some exams I had to redo and because I go to uni in another country than my own, I had to leave for a couple of weeks. But on the upside, I finished earlier than I planned so I got a few completely free from everything days where I’m just doing rewrites and adding content. So currently I am in the last stretch.
I changed the way I approach content to be more fair and streamlined since before I was just adding content where I thought was cool and that ended up being not balanced for different paths and choices. Now my method is to try and keep everything impactful more or less, with every player getting something cool to see when choosing their path.
Just to show what kind of things I am talking about, here’s a little snippet of an event I rewrote recently having to do with divining the future and encountering something you didn’t expect.
This is a special option for MCs with Mind at 3.
Where as before the event was pretty simple, I decided to make it more engaging and impactful and add a little confrontation that would make it more memorable.
Nice to know! No pressure tho, just wanted to see if there was progress. As a fellow adhd person I can’t imagine actually starting smth as huge as writing a playable novel much less think about (and execute) the diff subplots and events based on how strong a certain type of stat is. You’re doing awesome!
Oh yeah, actually starting has been my bane for years. Before, I always thought thatt I don’t have enough skill or patience to actually make something worthwhile even though the idea has been in my head since Covid.
When I actually started in May, I wrote the whole of the prologue in one day with in that classic ADHD hyperfocus state, and then I realized that I don’t have a concrete plan on what to write in the practical sense. The ideas are there but how to implement them correctly and mechanically I had to figure out in the last few months.
Using Obsidian for planning out paths and writing linked notes really helped, and switching to VsCode for writing also made a massive difference. They have a ChoiceScript addition that looks for errors real time and also allows you to collapse and track paths efficiently.
Getting a tasklist and splitting the work into a checklist is what finally allowed me to do a stable amount of work every day. Where before I could do 4-7k words on a random motivation day and then not work for a week, now I write 2-3k every day and going steadily.
Don’t know yet how it will turn out, but I’m already feeling a lot more confident in my ability to write on a regular basis.
brother we’re starving
Lol, at this point I better shut up about any kind of estimation before I get a proper and reliable schedule down. But if it’s any consolation, I am literally writing and code correcting right now.
The added content really made me redo a bunch of stuff and add reactivity, but I am proud to say that no more rewrites will be performed and I am finishing up the last 20% of chapter 1 which doesn’t have that much variation so it’ll be done rather quickly. Right now I’m sitting at about 48k words without code and it will be about 60-65k when I’m done.
The text outline is already written and I just need to convert that into a ChoiceScript format and implement all the variables. Won’t step on a rake this time and won’t give a concrete estimate, but “very soon” is pretty good.

Hello @Artklik Glad You Are Back, I have Read Some Your initial Posts and I do Have a question About the Cheat Mode, Since You said that One of the Inspirations Was Aura Clash Does that mean That The Characters And The World React To The MC’s Uncanny And Abnormal Streght in that Mode?, An Ex of What I Mean: Characters Are training in a place throwing Fireballs, At Their Level of training This Was Expected And then Comes the MC Surprising and scaring Everyone By Sending A Firestorm and they All Just Ask Amongst themselves “…Why They Are So Strong?”
Hello!
The answer is yes, I am aiming for that. Though in my story, at least in the beginning, it is not a surprising fact to anyone if you pick that mode.
So what I mean is - the characters in the beginning of the story are intimately familiar with who you are, and consequently you have also known them their whole life. So while the strength/talent will be acknowledged by both the characters and the narrative, it won’t be a surprise to anyone for now.
But further along it will definitely be surprising - though I’d argue that wizards in general would seem surprising to the general population…
In PoMA and Aura Clash, the respective cheat modes are a hidden fact that the MC hides and/or doesn’t display openly most of the time. I am writing with the consideration that the player would want to show off what they can do, so I write flavor for very high stats for each check it makes sense for.
Since my character creator allows you to max out a few stats right away if you want to play that way, it is easier for me to write the cheat mode because I already am considering that the player might have a stat at its max value.
Besides that, there is also flavor for the cheat mode in particular, for example there will be some checks and sequences that will be generally impossible to do without a special narrative route or having the cheat mode enabled, and the characters/narrative will react to those. I also want to do special options and/or routes for it, but it’s too early to say if they are going to change anything significant story-wise.
Thank You for Clarifying things
No problem, always glad to answer questions.
Hi, good morning, I’m really looking forward to seeing your game. I’d already played the character creation part before, and that alone got me very excited, especially knowing that I can be a super powerful character From the beginning I’m a big fan of these stories, which are usually shown in anime or manhwa. I also like standard stories where the character gets stronger as we evolve our character, but I don’t know, it’s very exciting to be powerful right from the start and leave everyone speechless. But this left me with a question that I would be very happy to answer: this cheat mode you’re going to implement, how overpowered will it make the MC? In creating the character, I realized that we can be the best of the best in every aspect, both physically and magically, but is that only when comparing ourselves to the students? For example, the MC will have the most magical reserves in the entire school, but will the teachers still have more magic than him? Again, I wanted to say that I’m very excited to play your story; I’m sure it has a lot of potential.
can’t wait for the demo, the premise seems really cool, keep up the great work
