The Sword of Rhivenia (Remake) (DEMO UPDATED 02/10)

I’m waiting for the pirate Ro but I always play high morality mc so idk how doable romancing him is gonna be for my Mc how can I be a decent ruler and romance a dude who sees good choices as weak without me burning down my kingdom :sob:?

Curses for the interesting characters being the hardest to romance Tam, Lena etc

Now Nicolas doesn’t care so he’s easier but Tam literally is gonna be so hard to romance when he’s released for good Mcs he’s definitely the top 3 hardest one no joke here and he ain’t even here yet.

Like I believe you can play dark obsessive mc with Clara etc (Not sure possiblyin the future) but with Tam it’s all or NOTHING I’M DOOMED.

For now I’m going for Nic and Lena but this is actually traumatic for me lmao.

Ruin Richard’s life, Poison the Peasants, Kill the writer with the dog, do not forgive Charles and condemn him until he dies (that one suprisingly decreases morality), Deceit path on Clara.

This should tank your morality, and use the more political manipulative choices (“I am only caring for peasants due to the PR angle”), iirc bullying i mean asserting your divine right as a Monarch on Lena should also decrease morality (at the cost of relationship points with her).

Worst case you should be 52% Morality but being a prick should make it in the house of 40%-ish.

Never tried this before but thanks for the tips I’m definitely gonna have a hard time killing somebody with a dog but I think I can manage it :sob:

I’m gonna do another replay today it’s time to ruin Richard’s life for once honestly bro had it coming after he attacked Mc in the tournament

If it’s any consolation, the guy you are going to kill with a dog was commiting an act of treason

And even then, they were treating Queen Isabella’s miscarriage and following accidental Sterilization by our mother as a joking matter, which is INCREDIBLY fucked up no matter what when you think about it.

Completely beat him in the Duel as well because that humiliates him in front of an entire kingdom. Or just deny his Duel challenge and belittle him by acting like his challenge doesn’t mean crap.

Imo doing the duel is better if you want to REALLY humiliate him, because.

  1. He just looks bad for trying to openly challenge the weakest heir.

  2. He them loses to said weakest heir, despite the fact we received far less training and had far less time to actually catch up to his skill level

  3. It just looks like he threw a tantrum (and in a sense, he did)

Actually, now that you put it like that, it’s surprising that rumours about this don’t end up being a bigger deal. Given how Richard is viewed as the most capable heir by most of the populace, the fact that he loses a serious public duel, that he instigated, in a foreign land, to the youngest heir… I feel like that should have tanked his reputation more than it does.

Rumours spread, even between countries, after all.

To be fair his reputation with the commoners and possibly nobles is already at extremely negative levels after poisoning the Peasants humiliating him in a foreign country after he pitches a tantrum and challenges his youngest sibling is just icing on the Let’s Ruin Richard’s life cake though he honestly shoots himself in the foot acting the way he does and just makes it far too easy to screw him over. Only King he’ll ever be is the King of Whiny Daddy Issues lol

In medieval times, people aren’t very mobile. Information doesn’t spread as fast as one may think. We are used to the existence of social media, phone calls, messages, cars, planes, boats - many forms of communication and travel.

Plus, the average peasant or even the average citizen of a city doesn’t have the time to give a crap about rumours. They’re too busy trying to get the maximum out of their harvest so they don’t starve at winter.

WELCOME BACK!!! I’m glad you’re okay!

The challenge doesn’t really mean even if he wins cos he picked a fight the youngest heir who is probably less experienced. It just makes him look weak and cowardly. He shot himself in the foot again with this win or lose

Richard no matter the version always shoots himself in the foot to please his mom’s family and dear old daddy as well when he honestly should have more respect for himself. I somewhat feel for him but he’s making it really hard for any mc I play to not screw him over at every opening he gives.

If you think about it, Richard x Clara also gets shot in the foot in a lose/lose/Lose but in italic & bold scenario

Lose 1: Clara gets a crush on PC no matter how trash we treat her (i think there is even some internal dialogue where she even asks herself this), she realizes she doesn’t like Richard.

Lose 2: Similiar to Lose 1, except we do actually love Clara back.

Lose 3: Deceit Clara into thinking we actually like her only to rugpull and go “nuh uh” which is hilariously petty, “kick Richard while he is down” type shit, literally only for the lulz in a long-run manipulation that started since childhood, there is literally 0 reason to do this other than angst or more accurately, be an asshole.

Imo I do kind of feel bad for Richard, despite all the things i have said on this thread, hell! if you think about it, the problem is that it’s not excuseable.

He does up to 4 act that we could deem as threats (3 if you treat him like crap, funny that he is less dangerous when you aren’t nice), 3 of that we could argue were flirting with treason, disloyalty or some form of it.

The Duel of course. (though since we are in “equal standing” i would only argue it’s more of a show of threat than actual treason/disloyalty/other)

The disrespect in our coronation by coming in drunk and subtly challeging us by placing his hand on his sword.

Telling Lena he would have her head if she was involved with Charles death + revealing Charles was poisoned + making negociations more difficult because she could see Rhivenia as trying to threathen her.

And for those that didn’t do a “actually try to be nice to Richard for once” route.

The Provision Incident.

Should you not taint the provisions + have a good relationship with Richard, you will get attacked instead, and Richard finds that funny!

In what world would this be fine? My eye actually twitched when i read that i was like “RICHARD, YOU DUMBASS.” this is the last thing you want to say to avoid getting your family line purged in a Dynasty known for killing eachother to get rid of claimants (+ has a nasty past with civil war because of sibling claimants), he is somehow more of a threat if you actually try to be nice to him and attempt to avoid a Francis.

Richard’s problem is that he can’t lock tf in to save his own hide, his life was built on smoke & mirrors, it is a largely superficial and sheltered life, kinda like Freya in a way! but Freya is locking tf in (for better or worse, likely worse).

And then we ruin his entire life because we simply exist lol.

Richard doesn’t care for the throne and only wants his father’s approval, Charles pretty much disdains his son for being “weak” and only favours him because Charles is not just a terrible father but a terrible husband who condemned his own children for something our mother did.

He treats as if Atheris had a beef with him for no reason when (to her) he largely acts as aloof and keeps going “LOOK AT HOW FATHER LOVES ME, HE WAS PRESENT ON MY BIRTHDAY, HE GAVE ME GIFTS AND CARES ABOUT ME!” to a child with anger issues and resentment. (and not helped when the two branches hate eachother’s guts)

He thought he would marry and have a life with Clara, she does not see him that way and tells him as such after his father told him he was unworthy.

He then tries to send provisions to the populace, not out of genuine kindness of his own heart but because he was chasing Charles approval like a dog, so even the populace’s love is fake because he doesn’t actually deserve it, or gets cursed by the peasants because we poisoned them instead.

And his one final act, to declare a duel against us in a foreign land, which we can deny or win, the latter is even worse because despite everything, we win even at something he should excel at.

In general he kept searching for praise for the sake of it, rather than doing things to actually deserve it and then crashing out when his life turns upside down because most things were lies, on hindsight it’s honestly suprising it took up to Marania for him to actually crash out.

Honestly, i’d say most of the things were actually Charles fault by proxy, Richard may have done them but most things were Charles fault one way or another, i will not lie and say I like Richard, I do not but if you think about it, the problem is a bit below.

If Charles was an actually decent father figure instead of a deadbeat abusive bastard, i’d say most things if not all of them could had been avoided but alas, Richard is living in the shadow of Charles.

I haven’t read the demo in awhile, so there may be new info I need to catch up on. But I have always liked Richard. I feel bad for him, especially now that he can’t get the crown or the girl (neither of which I’m thrilled about, but se la vie). I also like how he behaved as a child, which shows his true character. I mean, he gave us a cute toy horse! That was adorable

Mc should just marry him far away in some other kingdom at this point otherwise he will get executed.

Probably the only way to spare him this point before he does something stupid again that can’t be simply be ignored or apologised for

That’s pretty much why I don’t disdain Richard, it isn’t fully his fault. Sure, he does some shit, but it’s mainly done in the name of praise, which he never genuinely gets. Courtesy of the vile parenting by Charles and Isabelle.

Now, here’s where things get tricky: I don’t get why people hate Charles this much. I get it in terms of “oh he’s a shitty father,” which I completely agree with. BUT…I think it’s understandable. He is like the William the Conqueror of this story: a great king, but a really shitty father.

Think about it. You can’t be a good father and an effective king at the same time (and as to why I think Charles is a good ruler, it’s due to the lack of emphasis on any ills of Rhivenia. They aren’t mentioned. So Charlie Brown was doing something right domestically.)

Charles doesn’t spend any time with his children, for he’s taking care of his kingdom. Both take egregious amounts of time that cannot be done at the same time. In England, Henry the III was king. Not a great king, but his son, future Edward the I loved him and rescued him when he was taken prisoner. You don’t get that if you’re a shitty father.

Edward the I was a great and effective king, but his offspring were disappointments because he didn’t spend any time with them and thus didn’t lecture them on their duties.

Yeah, this is just a clusterfuck of a family, I feel like. Had they not been royalty, I think this family would be at least semi-coherent. But alas, they were cursed with this.

I bet that if he actually treats out family with some respect, he wouldn’t been poisoned at the first place since I still believed that Richard’s uncle poisoned him.

I bet that he still poisoned him if he treated Richard’s mom the same way if he loved our mother instead.

Was he a great king though?
