Do you mean romantically? Here’s the one I compiled.

Also, I finally did what I mentioned before and tried to see if my opinion on Richard would change, and honestly? I still quite like him lol. I straight up took Clara and married him off and he still cared a great deal about my MC. There were a few moments at the beginning he seemed bitter but I understood where he was coming from even if I didn’t agree with him. Perhaps it’s because in previous playthroughs I had a really good relationship with him so I knew his intentions better(?). I don’t know, but honestly I feel like the only moments that make me put off by him were things that happen as a result of me purposefully going out of my way to antagonise the guy - which yeah, I can’t fault him for being sour lmao. I feel like so long as you don’t try and make him your rival when pursuing Clara (trying to one up him for example) and have a kind and supportive relationship with him, he’ll ultimately be a good brother to you and come around from his moments of tantrum.

From all the alternative paths I’ve taken with him, he ultimately just comes across as a very emotional and sensitive person. He thinks with his heart instead of his brain (but to a lesser extent than Freya) and it clouds his judgement a lot. For the record, I think he’s a terrible leader and I totally get people’s frustrations with him being so obsessed with Clara or being praise seeking. But I can understand his perspective when taking those traits into account. He’s grown up as the single child of his mother who desperately wants him to rule and has been poisoning his brain for years. It makes sense that when he gets his dad’s attention he feels validated and clings onto it (because his mother turned him into a people pleaser), he’s actually indifferent to the throne itself and when you push him on his antics playfully regarding the father you can tell he’s not actually trying to mean anything by it, he’s just a dumbass who’s really happy he got dad’s attention. Clara has a kind and gentle nature about her that appeals to him and her views align with his own views on the world, plus they’re close friends so it makes sense he’s this obsessed with her (even if not healthy). She does seem a bit iffy on him at first with his wooing, but it seems she does like him/isn’t creeped out by him and develops feelings for him if you don’t interfere. I kinda see it as we are Clara’s no.1 choice and Richard is 2nd best, which is why she can’t show too much interest in Richard narratively speaking until we make it clear to the game we’re not interested.

In my recent playthrough, him and Clara still became a couple at the end, which to be fair, I was kind of expecting and technically am okay with as the deal was that he couldn’t “marry” anyone else. Which if there is any drama that arises from that then hopefully I can play it off by using their rules against them and feigning ignorance. Because you can easily interpret their deal as “you can fool around with others so long as no other woman shares power with me in wedlock”. Might cause some issues later if I do have to ban him seeing Clara altogether, but he can have have this for now and I’ll cross that bridge if it happens.

Now with that said, if brother dearest starts some drama next book by trying to marry Clara despite clear instructions saying he can’t, THEN I’m going to be very upset with him :)) with Freya’s lover we can just pretend he’s a commoner (since his pirate crew disowned him anyway) but I’m bending over backwards trying to do my duty while being reasonable with him so he better be grateful. It will be fascinating to see if he does actually end up falling for his wife though and by him taking Clara as a lover if he’ll complicate things on the off chance he does need to say goodbye to her. Because Clara is the most open (seeming) regarding polyamory but the wife may not be even without a poly marriage.

ANYWAY, long tangent and Richard character analysis aside, I love how this game has made me go into strategizing mode. Even though this won’t be my first/main playthrough I can already tell it’s going to be the juiciest for all of the drama.

And thank you also resuri for the guide!

I WAS RIGHT!!! thank you, thought i was going crazy lolol

This just brings a lot more conjecture as to why she would give the throne up and why her people would even agree to it. Seriously, there’s nobles, merchants, armies, commoners…lots of people with different motivations who would either be averse to going to war (merchants and commoners likely) or accepting a new head of state

BUT THE CLAIM! More land hehe…oh oh, my Crusader Kings side is showing!

This is a really really good point. Kiddo was raised in…obviously not optimal conditions. Does he even know that our mother tried poisoning his and that he lost his sibling and almost his mother? That’d uh, certainly tip the scale towards “Screw my wench spawned devil half-siblings” lol

Homie went looking for some booty and found some…booty.

The only thing that puts me off about our brother is overprotective of Clara. I understand he wants her for himself but that can be creepy and off putting. Clara should see who she wants without him trying build a wall lol.

Doesn’t she only do that if we get picked. Of course she is going to do that since why would she want the child of the kings other wife to rule. Everyone knows she doesn’t like her. But should be able to do something about it like throw her in a cell.

Just chose all the options to romance both J and X (showed interest in J from the start and let him work at the castle, was kind to X and told him I care about him before I freed him, chose the most affectionate options for both of them when you’re thinking about your feelings for all the characters), selected “I’d say goodbye to the men I love”, and then it just happens by itself a bit later, idk. I only got it on my non-ruling playthrough where my character wasn’t betrothed to X but apparently it should happen either way🤷‍♀️
It’s a sweet scene, I was bummed not to have it on my Queen playthrough. I’ll probably try again at some point because I want my throuple😠

This is a random question but if the MC doesn’t pursue Clair does she returns richards feelings or not?

Yes, she does. According to one of the ask from Nutellaqueen tumbler, Clara have feelings for both the MC (if you encourage it) and Richard.

In both my experience, they got together at the end. I have good relationship with Clara as well.

And that’s a good excuse? Here’s the stats you focused your training on so you can actually use them in a few years when the second book comes. That’s just bad storytelling. The stats are a gimmick in this book, and it makes it even more ridiculous when the bandits attack you and you flounder like a wounded kitten while having 70+ swordsmanship.
I’ve played hundreds of CoG and HG books with stats and no where were they so insignificant as here, it’s the reason this book has such bad reviews on steam. The only reason I’m so peeved is because I actually liked the world building and characters, and it all falls in the water because of the stat system.

So my MC became queen… i have an issue thats been bugging me. Why are the civilians being such dicks in the end? After every thing she went to cure the poison outbreak they end up revolting… She hasn’t done done anything of significance and yet they want my MC dead and she’s not even evil! She’s kind but shy.

Can i just do the that one time thing that some leaders do to establish dominance (I will fuck you up if you dont listen) when they revolt? Just kill a whole bunch of then till they understand?

Or till they pull a french revolution on your ass

That’s their normal mood, someone said that the people act like followers of Khorne and that’s canon now for me

For starter the mc is a fourth born heir that means the people has less trust in you when it comes to running the kingdom, you being nice is simply being viewed as weakness and unwilling to be harsh, combine with the poisoning incident they just got tired and wanted to rebel against you, they wanted Richard to be the king not knowing that he’s even a much more worst ruler than the mc.

Just take it by force man after we’re done crushing their army and never leave their territory. We’ll bring the southerners the enlightenment LOL.

I understand why people are mad about some of the stats in book 1 especially when you’ve gone out of your way to rise one or two stat every chance you have because you think you will need them but to be real it isn’t that hard to get a lot of your stats up high without trying for example knowledge and the fight stats have so many opportunities to rise them you don’t even need to focus on them when you get those throughout the years choices.

So I do think that’s a win for this game and something many people don’t even think about when playing because they’re mad the stats aren’t used in book 1 also other CoG/GH make rising your stats so much work then I think it needs to be sometimes.

Another thing to think about that could maybe help you or other people be less mad about the stats is to think about book 1 being character creation because that’s really all book 1s are is building your character for the next game/games.

@Bulk_Biceps

I don’t think there is anything you can do to stop all of them from wanting you to die at the end of the game but I do think if you give a good speech at the end you can persuade some of them that you are a good king/queen because when I played with Atheris as queen that’s what happened with her so maybe it’s the same for the MC too.

@Nevantyr

I’ve only done one playthrough so far with Atherrs as queen and that was yesterday so it was the first and only time I have seen people not wanting to kill you at the end.

Also, it makes sense that the bloodthirsty speech is the only one to work because your people are mad and even before the war people were so quick to turn to cruelty and violence when not happy about something.

It’s the same only if you give a bloodthirsty speech, thus why I said they’re khornates, only the promise of the blood of your enemies calms them and even then just some of them; there’ll be blood for everyone in book 2, either from Erwan’s side or from our dear citizens.

“BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, SKULLS FOR THE THRONE OF SKULLS”

If they don’t chant it, I’ll be sorely disappointed

hi, how short is clara height?

I love how Clara still wants to be with MC instead of Richard even after we main RO someone else. This is the reason why you should main her…

Can we romance Queen Lena in later books?

This is one of the reasons why I am suggesting an update for the first book that can add these sorts of skill testing scenes in. If they aren’t important for the first book. At least give us a taste of what to come!

Also just a reminder to everyone in the forum that frustrations and criticism are not an excuse to attack or antagonize the author! I don’t know the exact current state of the forum right now, but I don’t think it will hurt to let everyone know this.
