The Royal Legacy (New Poll on post #1466) (Hiatus)

The more corruption the MC gain, the more it will begin to show. However, if the MC by some miracle still has the favor of the military/people and are able to deter the inquisitors when they come, the church will completely cut the MC off and will have no business with the city.

I’m trying to set it up so that the more corruption that is gained the more uncontrollable rage and bouts of madness that is shone without encamping on the MC’s freewill. I’ll have to test it out a bit. Perhaps seeing things that aren’t there, hearing things from advisers that they didn’t really say. Dreaming of both things that will happen and could never happen, so the MC mistrusts even reality.

But ah, perhaps it would be better to simply bring an end to the MC once they are engulfed by their corruption.

Noooo! Please!!! Madness, aura of darkness, outbursts of rage and other things are good, but i never liked auto death. Just letting the MC experience the consequences of his corruption but still have equal chances to win is much better.

Oh the MC will be able to grow deeper in their corruption, though the only challenge at that point would be the inqusitors and the church interfering as much as they can.

The MC simply needs to maintain some humanity.

The moment in question is when their corruption completely overtakes them. Whether the inquisitors should come in full force ending the MC, just as it is with all the others. Or simply let the inquisitors declare the MC excommunicated. This will just about set the MC down a path of darkness whence they will never escape.

It’s still an idea in the works so I can’t quite say how it’ll turn out.

But what’s corruption exactly? You seem to assume evil=mad rage monster. And that’s not true at all. You could be evil and not be a mad shouting bullie. In fact, most of the time real evil people are apparently kind and gentle. With a dark side. I would never accept that my charismatic subtle politician get turned into a mad shouting brute because she is ruthless and don’t care about people. You could not care and been intelligent enough to try to keep happy your commoners. You know, like a roman emperor bread and circus.

Oh, do excuse my improper wording there. I was sure not to add a good/evil stat for this very reason. Who can judge what is good or evil?

By corruption, I’m meaning the use of sorcery or other crafts forbidden by Divinity. It is seen as an abomination to the Creator in their eyes, a power created to equal that of the Maker. Such things were not meant for mortal hands. And in this land, it twists the users very heart and inevitably their body and mind, so much so that the corruption begins to show.

This corruption compels them to seek power and destruction, it seeks to overtake their very being. That is the taint. It is power, power not of this world. Power that mortals were not meant to have. Power that is made to destroy.

A that has sense, I was thinking if you were a corrupt politician you become a goat monster or something…

I fear everyone would be a great monster in that case :stuck_out_tongue:

Just be careful of those drowning in corruption that have learned to hide the taint that creep across their flesh. It is they you must beware. For when the inquisitors come it will be far too late.

Makes me wonder, for those who were once inquisitors, will you become tainted?

Yes. Most likely yes.

Oh, I wont be tainted at all. My character doesn’t believe in magical crap or religious beliefs. So she would be safe of being a goat woman. Could I help Inquisition in exchange of some kind of money from donations.

I like the description! This is why i want to be fully corrupted and have a chance to win. I love the idea of the MC so corrupted that is more a fiend in human skin.

@EmperorHeartless All those years away from your home, punishing the corrupt, only to become tainted yourself

@poison_mara Yes, I’m sure it’s probably all just mumble jumble. Why else would so many be so distrusting of the inquisitors? Though who could say :smiling_imp: You very much could help the inquisition, in fact, you could choose to frame others or betray those you know are tainted, but are doing so to help you.

@Dreadlord You would be willing to abandon your humanity for power? You’ll have a tale of beauty and the beast in no time I’m sure.

Ummm? Beauty? 20+++++++++

Perhaps beauty and corruption doesn’t go along so much. Yet no one can hide the darkness within themselves for long.

(Side note: Those are actually the weapons I had in mind when writing Artemis’ fight scene are those same ones)… the above image isn’t Artemis btw.

I prefer power with all the corruption it entails even if i will look like a rotting corpse.:relaxed:

Is this why all politicians are goats?

No, if you are an Inquisitor, any corruption would be seen in those opposing you in the church. As an Inquisitor, I am pure, forever pure. Sweet and innocent too.

One could say that, that would perfectly describe how I thought Artemis would look like.

I was wondering if you were thinking about getting some concept art done for some of the characters in the game?

When it comes to characters and images, I’m extremely picky. It’s like trying to pick a topping for your brownies. Or which piece of brownie to eat first out of the whole box.

So it all comes down to all or none. Hopefully I can find an artist whose crafts are suitable for this genre that can suitably to the art for each chapter (character bio’s and random event arts as well). Else I’ll have to go with nothing at all. So all in all, right now I have plans for further including concept art.

Though for your advisers, I may not add any art to them as I would prefer to leave it to the MC’s imagination specifically, but ah we’ll see.

I prefer no pictures from them to maintain my own personal image. I have a great imagination lol.

Something has deeply been troubling me lately. No, no not that, banish the thought. I speak of the past, your background to be exact. Though the current backgrounds are all well and good. Each with their own darkness and good to them. (Don’t worry, memory lane is coming soon.)

What’s been troubling me is the background that will either replace one of the current ones or be added to the game. I had formally considered a bard/escort/courtesan. Then something came to mind, and that was the idea of having the MC simply become a bastard child as a background.

Your dear parents that forced you from home and ran the city into nearly billions in debt, could it be they aren’t actually your parents? If this is the case, who are your real parents? Where did you go once you were sent into exile? Allow me to answer that :smiling_imp:

I claimed bastard-ship upon being forced to leave Imora. However, a very influential family by the name of house Ashdale quickly sought me out. I accepted their hand and played their little game as their adopted child. Everyone got something out of it. I got a home and retained my status as nobility, just at the outskirts of Imora’s borders. The Ashdale’s received an important figure that they hoped to later use to further themselves. And their son, Rolo, received a new sibling. Upon hearing of my father’s death, the Ashdale’s sprung into action, securing me a route back to the keep, and ensuring that their part would not be forgotten.

(Keep in mind that this description is subject to change. Though the basis may remain the same, the description will more than likely be shortened.)

Edit: Rolo would be considered the MC’s foster brother and the MC would be considered the Ashdale’s foster child. Rolo will still very much be romancable to the MC. @poison_mara

But I wanna Rolling heavy in rolo, lol. Make him a foster brother or something similar.
Edit :But could I rock and rolo or not?
