My suggestion: give <30 approval ratings -2 Midterms, make 30 to 50 approval +0 midterms, and give >50 approval midterms +1.
Have you played through Chapter 4? If you have 60% Approval at the Midterm part of Chapter 4 (without modding the game) I’d suggest +5 midterms lol (even if you fire Lilah). But seriously, I don’t know how many people will have >50% approval at the Midterms part of Chapter 4. @RFKramer do you want us to send in approval numbers for that point?

and >60% +2? I believe it’s impossible to get >60% if you don’t fire the woman that I forget the name in the scandal about the Iran spy

I believe I have reached over 60 approval, without mods, I had reached 70 approval before the scandal with Iran and after firing Lilah I managed to stay at 61 if I remember correctly. I’m a little drunk right now, so I might be confusing, but I think I’m right.
I was playing as democrat, with a republican as vice and that’s all I remember about the run, let me play again, and I will screenshot
or not, because this happend:

Quick Coding Update #2
The demos (Public & Patreon) have been updated again!
Just about all value changes following the prologue (should) have now been switched to percentage changes. With this change, you shouldn’t be getting negative values anymore. Additionally, all of those “Can’t fairAdd” error messages should now go away.
I also highly recommend starting a fresh save with these changes. I’ve noticed that error messages can appear if you re-load an older save due to changing values or code between versions.
If you continue to run into errors, please keep posting them! I’ll be spending the bulk of this weekend trying to hammer out all coding errors so that I can focus on writing new content next week!
Thank you again for your patience and support,
R.F.

The current system expresses money and public support in a well-balanced manner, so I think it would be better not to change it in a careless manner.

Dropped from 78% to bottom out at a still respectable 64% and yeah because I did play a non-corrupt president and only spent the minimum amount of money the other party still took both Houses. Would be nice if I could have gotten the break even result on this run. No big deal though my mc is from Oregon he’s used to working with Dem controlled legislatures, whether it is city council, state house, or congress now.
It could also be my mc is causing an Obama effect for his own party in that lots of voters split tickets for him personally but he doesn’t generate very big coattails as the Obama tenure too caused huge losses for Dems all over the country.

Last time I checked public approval and the number of voters voting for a political party had quite a large correlation…

I personally believe that playing in a non-corrupt and popular way should have at least 48 seats and and at most with a lot of effort you can reach 50 seats, I think it gives that feeling of ‘no good deed goes unpunished’, but it also gives that feeling of, for lack of words, being really badass, so is the best of both world for me, because I belive it is what people want from this kind of run

So suddenly make the VP relevant in their function of presiding over the Senate, eh?

I’m not sure if it is possible to get >60 approval by the start of midterms without the Unity route. With that in mind, people are (technically) approving of the split administration arrangement in the Unity Route if they vote for OppParty. Or at least that’s how I see it.
Have you gotten Midterms 4 with an OppParty VP? You’ll see something interesting.

Did you start a new save?

Quick Coding Update #3
Surprise surprise! Yet another update has been released for coding fixes.
After a quite lengthy reframing of the code, there should now be no more game-breaking issues. The quicktest and randomtest now work thanks to those changes, and I’ve run each several dozen times to be sure.
As with my last message, I still highly recommend starting a fresh save – this should be the last time you need to do so.
Thanks again for bearing with me,

Anyone know how to start off a dictator play through?

I don’t think that should be a possible route, this isn’t Suzerain and since the story is somewhat and mostly based on reality… There just isn’t a way for the president to be a “Dictator” at max i could only think the president would try to strengthen their power but that would also need permission through both Congress and there’s a big limitations on this “Expansion”, anything bigger than small tweaking would step into the realms of constitutional amendment which would require an even bigger support not only from Congress but also by 75% of the state legislature, unless of course you want to incite a revolt to install yourself as president for life which doesn’t have a good track record Cough January 6th Cough… But i think there should be a path and i think it already exist to be a strong-armed president like LBJ, this is more realistic because we’ve seen countless examples of president advancing their policy goals through whatever means necessary

I did want to quickly write a response of my own to this question since I get it fairly often, though @Alexthelame really captured the bulk of it in their own response.
To clarify, there will be no established “dictator” path in the story – either as a main storyline or as a possible outcome in the epilogue. I am trying to keep the story as grounded in reality as I can (only taking a few liberties to keep the story interesting and engaging when needed), and I can’t foresee any potential path to a dictatorship in the near future. Even if I could – I think that’d warrant an entirely different story altogether.
I have a long, long list of future story ideas where that sort of path would be viable, but unfortunately, the closest to dictator you’ll be able to get in TPH is a strong-arm President as Alex mentioned.

So what type story ideas do you have

The game is still breaking, with the same error as before , "its illegal to fall out of a *choice statement * you must *goto or *…,i have started a fresh save but still says that. I don’t know weather the problem is with me or anyone else also having the same issue

Which line does it include in the error message? I’ve run several tests of it and it worked so I’m unsure why issues are still persisting.
Has anyone else had similar bugs pop up?
