I don’t know if I’m dense or just missing something, but why does Professor Karline answer “Why does he (the Duke) hate me so much?” with “We both know that?” (or something to that effect.) I don’t know that! Where would I have found out anything like that? Even as a reader I’ve come across nothing that tells me anything like that!

Wow, what a wild ride!

Oh yeah, I noticed that, too. I was kinda assuming it was just because you were sponsored by his rival, but his actions just felt much more personal than that

I notice people talking about what they gave up to the elf queen, and I feel like I got away with probably the easiest option. Just make sure you bring Kevin with you.

Oh? I left Kevin because he’s “the animal person” and I figured he’d be the most help against the hellhounds (though in reality, he probably is more prone to trying to pet them, isn’t he?) I usually take Dahlia, in case we need to speak covertly at some point.

I shall endeavour to allow you to do so even more.

Well, that at first, but your lack of power didn’t help matters.

That was AMAZING!
I cried when we got Disinvited and had to see everyone in the bad future
I originally wasn’t gonna romance Ædmund but I fell for him when I saw his rebellious streak  I’ll definitely do a replay with romancing Teri and Charlie and Kevin and Xiulan and probs everyone lol

I’ll be honest, I wrote this game off ages ago and for the life of me I can’t remember why I did that. Maybe it was the underpowered ‘non-chosen’ aspect, or just the premise of the magical world. But all I can say is that I’m really damn happy I went back and gave it another go. The story has been fantastic, and all the characters are lovable.

My only real complaint, which I realize is way too late into writing and development to change, would’ve been a bigger focus on the relationships, since as of right now they do sorta feel a little bit like filler placed there just to have a dating element to the game. Obviously we’re still dealing with a story in which the characters are all children, so it has to stay wholesome. But I would’ve loved to see Xiulan take me and Dahlia to the anime convention, and Dahlia taking us out to grow our brains and be cultural and learned, rather than just getting a brief overview of that being what happened, haha. The moments that are in the game are wonderfully sweet and cute mind you, but I do feel like the general impact of the relationships so far have been very minor, to the point where had they not been there, it wouldn’t really have changed much.

And I don’t say that to disparage you mind! I do say that in the spirit of constructive critism, as for something you might want to keep in mind for any potential future games you might write. If romance is present in a game, even if it’s the cute puppy-love romance of teenagers, then I feel like it’s important to acknowledge the romance being there and actually give some focus to it. It doesn’t have to take center stage like it does in most romance forward games akin to WHC at all, but it is important to actually give substance to the relationship, otherwise you end up with a relationship the player isn’t really truly invested in all that much. Sure I love Xiulan and Dahlia for my gay as hell MC, but as it currently stands I unfortunately wouldn’t really miss the relationship either if the romance option of the game disappeared overnight. And I feel that’s in large part because the relationship hasn’t really gotten any attention at all outside of a few lines here and there.

Just something to keep in mind for any future games, if you do decide to add romance to them. Overall though, I’ve loved and adored the game, so there’s absolutely no hate from me on that front. It’s been a pleasure to spend quite a few hours on this game.

Thanks for the comment. Honestly, I have been worrying about having enough romantic scenes lately. I am planning on having one big final scene just before the finale, and I don’t want to do anything too large so as to avoid pre-empting that, but it is still an in-universe year away, so I have been intending to have some small stuff prior to that. Hopefully that will help tide you over until the big scene.
Thanks again.

I know nobody cares but at this point i need a step by step guide to get Inherited because I do everything but get Inherited I win or get elected and I know it sounds dumb but if you know the secret please pass on the knowledge

The inheritance is supposed to be harder than the others (I would be very interested to learn if anyone has failed the election). Essentially, you need to Convince the duchess that you would be a capable heir (or just amuse her enough that she’ll want to do it just to annoy the duke). There’s no one single choice, but I’ll give you the “good” options:

Inheritance choices:

In the first meeting with the duchess:

No pressure, right?/Can/Can’t I refuse?/That sounds awesome!

In the initial hearing with the duke:

as truthfully as possible, but in a very sarcastic tone of voice./
with as much embellishment as possible.

Charlie’s second elemental testing (needs reasonably high int):

Why is it so important that Charlie isn’t water? + So, Charlie won’t inherit?

Realignment ceremony: either do the research or admit you haven’t.
Also, don’t wear your uniform.

Greenfarthing hearing: Refuse the truth probe, and refuse to answer any personal questions.

Artie’s interview: Make faces at the duke.
High Cha: ask her if she’s only being nice to annoy the duke.

Stay in the duchess’s house, mention the painting and then ask about it.

Send the duchess a Valentine’s card.

Before meeting the prophet ask what it means for you?

With the prophet: ask if the prophecy uses exact words (high Int), don’t refuse the new prophecy, don’t pretend to be a zombie.

After the Witchfinders, ask how the others are.

Auction: make the duke pay more than he was going to.

You shouldn’t need to do more than five or six of these to succeed.

The first year felt kind rushed and rough, there were a lot of things that happened one right after the other without much of it feeling very engaging or meaningful, which, kinda understandable when laying the groundwork of introducing -so many characters- but I almost stopped playing because of it, which would have been tragic because everything from the beginning of year two to where the current demo ends is absolute gold. I’m trying to be careful of spoilers, but if I could add a bit or constructive criticism of what I personally, just being one voice in a chorus, might have liked to see
maybe a bit more engagement with my characters trauma over the life they’d led up until that point, dialogue options over how my character felt about it and how they tried to deal, or completely repress all of it now that they’re in a fanstically new place
maybe that could help tie in to making some spicy content and revelations towards the
 thing
a bit more compelling? Well, if one of the options are chosen for that gigantic behemoth anyways. Overall though, really solid, and that name choice towards the end
 wow
 that was rough
I stared at my phone for a solid 5 minutes, tried to see if there were any way around it, tried to google search a certain somebody else’s name
but dang forest dude got me in the end. That was some clever dilemma angst play there.

Thanks for the comment.

And again, it’s something I agree with and am hoping to add to. Right now I am still trying to get to the end, but when it’s complete, I should be able to go back and rework some earlier stuff.
