@hapamama93 Aw, thank you so much!! They were a lot of fun to do c:
Hi @apothe0sis!
Just giving you a heads’ up that the server that supports Dashingdon will be shut down by the end of January.
You’ll want to migrate any and all demos for your WiP to the new hosting service. https://cogdemos.ink/. The support thread for cogdemos.ink is here and it’s run by a user named EvilChani.
Please spread the word, if ya can!
Thank you for the heads up!
Alright, the demo has been fully ported over to cogdemos.ink, and the links should be updated!
This topic was automatically closed 60 days after the last reply. If you want to reopen your WiP, contact the moderators.
I’ll be updating the links tomorrow to direct to the new cogdemos addresses. Much more excitingly, I’ve been hard at work!
I will be splitting the chapter 3 update into two parts to make it more manageable on myself. The first part is currently just over 100k words, and has an (extremely tentative) release date of this coming Saturday, if writing and edits go my way.
I am super excited to share what I’ve been cooking up with everyone!
UPDATE:
- Added Wordcount: 107,512 (333,798 total)
- New content warnings updated on main post.
- Built-in a character creator so that you can skip directly to the new content, if desired!
In this update, you can:
- Walk back into town!
- Hang out at a gas station! Get to know the owner!
- Find a new place to stay! (optional)
- Meet Croft! (finally)
- Learn about Easthaven from a new,
totally unbiasedsource! - Look into local real estate!

Nice!
Where’s Willow man…
Landlady’s a witch. Calling it.
I used my lawyer skills on the landlady and felt very cool doing it
Found out about this wip while scrolling on the site. Love the eldrish vibe and how everything is mysteriously written? (If that makes sense). It would be interesting to see if there was a cult aspect to it (maybe some people worship the mist? A tad cliché but cant go wrong with the classics) tho all in all really good stuff!
One thing that really drew me in is the sibling relationship. Feels so real and sincere and we haven’t even met Willow! (as someone with a sister the almost parental instinct to protect is really well protrayed).
Theory time: I wonder if the MC is “connecting” with a specific entity depending on their emotional response and natural traits? Or maybe there’s something more to them?
Anyways, love it! Keep up the good work.
So I played it yesterday/today (at a time when I should’ve been sleeping, but hey!) and I really enjoyed the update. I want to explore the “powers”/“magic” a bit more.
I think there may have been a continuity error when I skipped ahead to Chapter 3? Brain’s fuzzy from sleep. I went alone into the fog but I think there was one line of narration that treated it like I did not? I’ll try to find it again for debugging purposes. Maybe I was just really tired.
New place to stay: I don’t know if this was a coding error or what, but I didn’t intend to find a new place. So after my conversation with Croft, I was a bit surprised to find myself suddenly talking to the lady. Despite this, I really enjoyed the interaction but was a bit… confused if it was intentional that as soon as you enter into that “scene” with her, you have no option but to accept her deal somehow. To me, this doesn’t seem optional as advertised. Hence why I’m bringing it up in case it’s maybe a coding error?

I believe that the “Find a new place to stay! (optional)” is not referring to getting a house to stay at (which we are forced to get), but instead being able to switch with whom we are staying with (Hospital, Ravi, Jay, Beck, and Perri), since that is optional. I can further back this up since the author also lists “Look into local real estate!” separate from that, referring to the house we are getting.
When you look at the code, there are special stats that refer to the type of magic you could use. After using the character build to skip ahead, I was sad to see I couldn’t add in the special stats.
@AChubbyBlackCat I’m glad you enjoyed the update! The magic/powers are absolutely one of the things I’m most excited to dig into as we get deeper into the story.
I’ll take a look; I’m positive there are some lingering continuity errors still in there. If you did find the specific instance I’d love to see it, but otherwise I’ll poke around <3
And ahh yeah, that was a miscommunication/poor wording decision in the update post on my end. The ‘new place to stay’ is in reference to getting a new (temporary) roommate, which will affect some scenes in the 2nd part of the chapter. Apologies for that! There is no way to refuse the deal for ~story reasons~ --but I really appreciate you giving me a heads-up, ty!
@Lotus I’m so glad to hear it felt cool! I had a blast digging into that section in particular for the law student!MC’s–it was a ton of fun to write.
@Rui_Filipe Ahhh ty, happy you’re enjoying it! Sibling relationships are very important to me, and Willow’s probably my favorite character in the game. I love writing their relationship with the MC c:
@james_nguyen This is a case mostly of me wanting to keep the character builder on the shorter end–for the most part, I only include stats that will be relevant in the update, just for brevity’s sake. A little later in the story, when the magic becomes even more important, those options will definitely be added to the character builder!
A bit disappointed that tattoo artist seems to have won for the creative career. That was one of like the two options that wouldn’t work for my character. Also since having met Croft, it feels like writer could’ve had some neat interactions there.
But, it’s a fairly minor thing in the grand scheme of things so I’m not too cut up. So podcast for the stats it is I guess.:p
Other than that, I quite enjoyed the update. Will have a few more thoughts when I’m less tired.
