I’m going to guess that she’s asking for a link to a non-existent playable version of the game… :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah, well if thats the case than for anyone not involved in the should know that beyond and few starting concepts nothing has been done yet.

For those of us involved in the development, perhaps we should move this to a private PM thread. We can do PM with more than two people, cant we?

Actually, I’m not sure I can pm on my phone.

I dont know what phone you have, but you should be able to. You just have to go to your inbox, click the talk bubble in the upper right, and type in the recipients.

For the record, no serial killer would have no reason at all. Liking to kill in itsself is a reason to kill. That doesn’t make them deranged- just that they kill because they enjoy it. For that kind of killer, killing would be like eating junk food. You know it’s bad, but it just tastes so good you can’t help it.

I’m actually studying to be a criminal profiler, I could help with some of the psychological aspects behind it. For instance, you wouldn’t become a serial killer because your boss is an insufferable -insert curse word of choice here-. But, that is a plausible trigger. Say you spent your whole life made to feel inferior- your boss treating you that way could trigger a memory. It would have to be something heavily traumatic- contrary to popular belief people aren’t just born a serial killer. Something usually goes wrong. It’s not unheard of that there’s nothing bad about their past, and they’re just wrong in the head, but it’s rare.

Or if you wife cheated on you. That could have been your first kill. Then, every time you see a woman that resembles your cheating wife, it triggers you to kill again. Another way you could delve deeper into choices is disposal of the body- anything from acid to weighing it down in a lake or river, to burning or just leaving it. Each comes with their own advantages and disadvantages. If you hide the body, there’s a lower chance of them finding it, but a larger chance of you being seen with the body. It’s not like nobody is going to notice you dragging a body to your car, or a body wrapped in a tarp.

With the acid option, you’re able to be traced by your purchase of the chemicals used. With burning the body, there’s a slim chance some evidence would be left behind. Fire can only destroy what it can reach. With weighing it in a body of water, there’s a risk of swimmers, boaters, or the body rising to the surface because the killer used ropes instead of chains and they decayed. Or if the local wildlife picked at the body, and an eye rises to the surface. If you leave the body, you’re out of the area a lot faster. Also, they can profile what car you drive by the body- if you kill someone tall, you could hardly just toss them in the back of your brand new sedan. They’ll assume you drive a pickup truck or utility van.

Also, the third kill is a changing point. That’s when you go from a murderer to a serial killer. It’s also usually when the FBI gets called in. This would be a good choice point- do you confront the new threat? Do you taunt them, or ignore them as an insignificant threat.

Another aspect you could include is evolution- the first kill is usually sloppy. Generally in a rage, out of curiosity, or due to some emotion. What makes them keep killing is that they have a problem in their head that lacks emotions that is basic human functions- in any circumstance that you look up, people don’t enjoy killing. Even assassins and contract killers usually don’t enjoy it. Almost every soldier I’ve talked to has told me they puked their guts out after they shot their first man.

They lack empathy, and compassion. If one of us sees a child laying on the ground in the middle of the street completely alone, we would generally be concerned. We would worry if the child is hurt, where his or her parents are, why they’re crying, so on. Someone with the mind of a serial killer would wonder why the kid won’t shut the hell up so he can enjoy his peace and quiet. You see how that is worrying.

Now, what drives them to keep killing is the feeling they get after the first kill. It’s basically, the biggest, craziest adrenalin high ever. And so they spend every time they kill after trying to recreate it. Now, this isn’t always true. There are some who kill because they have a “mission” some who kill because they have a psychotic break (basically, they flip out, go around and kill. Generally triggered by physical contact) and I even read about a case where a volatile schizophrenic man was imagining other people around him. The hallucinations were vivid enough that they would keep him awake by “physically harming him” until he killed someone. It turned out, whenever he imagined them hitting him, there was physical Evidence. Because he was hitting himself. He ended up dying. The FBI found his body- he killed himself. They guessed, and I agree, that he was fighting his hallucinations and died in the process due to his psyche protecting him.

My point is, it’s not like a serial killer just decides one day “hey, this person looks like they would be fun to stab 37 times in the face and chest areas.” So you should give realistic reasons. One doesn’t kill 27 people because they don’t like their boss. That would be a mass murder situation. Serial killers are complex, and while horrible, very interesting.

I think @Patch should be our official fact checker. I was going to try to do some research on the subject, but he obviously already knows this stuff

@Patch interesting analysis, made a good read. @fantom id agree, seems like the right person for the job

When I think of serial killers I think of Jack the Ripper, Ted Bundy, Charles Manson, and Jeffrey Dahmer. While they all are famous serial killers their methods are different. Many serial killers go uncaught like the BTK killer and many others. The ones that do get caught are very interesting to look at and see how strikingly familiar they are, yet at the same time very different. Goes to show how much depth a serial killer really has. More than normal people might even think. They have a very interesting minds.

Thinking about this in game terms the story can be very different but it will always end in one of three ways: You get caught, You lead the law enforcement to you(intentionally or unintentionally), or you never get caught and die.

So all members PM me for link.

So is there going to be a demo soon?
Edit: ignore that read back a bit.

No demo. ONLY PM ME IF YOU ARE HELPING IN. THE GROUP it’s a forum where we can work privately.

Sorry, @Talon I didn’t see it (My iPad isn’t showing it until I refresh the page for some reason or another)

And I’d be happy to help keep facts straight.
