To get Wisdom and Fire, you need to run away from the bandit fight, then tell Isan about that.
Isan is an asshole.
And in order to get Lawful Good you are not allowed to kill anybody..
Just remember that that Bandit Girl could have died several times. The squire is a possibly decent bet though. Personally I’m curious to see if highly pragmatic characters will ever have a fall from grace in the sequels, considering some of the behavior the MC can show is a little psychotic. (Ie. A pragmatic wizard wanting to smash the Deathclaws into little smooshy bits, or the mud/earth spell at the bandit attack, that was a little scary) It’d be interesting to hear the ballad of the rise and fall of the “Hero” of Kendrickstone.
@Hell_Satan, @Iggles You know that there are two bandit girls (and a bandit guy) ?
The squire girl will most probably be an RO, but I wonder what happens to her if Sir Edmund gets killed.
Yea, but both female bandits can be killed and the male bandit is dependent on taking up the Duke’s plan. Actually if the hero chooses to hang all the bandits and not do anything special if one of them aided the MC, all the bandits are dead no matter what. Seems risky to have a former bandit to be a RO since a good amount of playthroughs might not even include them. Seems like a lot of effort and writing for something not many will experience. I would imagine that the squire would be put under another knight’s supervision, possibly Dame de Somerrecci. I’m interested what secrets lie in that Flowering Court tome we can keep if we’re a wizard. It would be fun using centuries lost magic to show up Isan.
@Iggles Maybe the surviving bandit(s) will be additional extra allies/ROs if spared. and there will be enough “main” ROs.
Possibly. I honestly have no idea where the story will go from where it left off, simply because there are so many directions it could go in. Former bandits could become hugely important, or just have a few lines of text dedicated to them. This is @Cataphrak though, so I fully expect him to swoop in and give a maddeningly ambiguous answer and watch gleefully as we desperately try to figure out what he actually meant.
Speaking of @Cataphrak It’s possible for a wizard apprenticing for Isan to eventually get a 5 in Empire of Korilandis lore, but the entry and explanation as to what level of knowledge you possess is blank.
@Iggles
At this point, I’m really building up a cast of characters who might serve as potential romance options in future. The sequel will have romance, and at least three possibilities. I can tell you that. (No trolling this time, sorry).
I’ve fixed the bug with the lore. Should be up with the next update.
Hey all –
People keep complaining in reviews about spelling errors. If you see typos, please send in a screenshot so we can fix it in the patch!
Kill or let the bandit girl bleed to death in the beginning mission where you’re just getting near Kendrickstone. There will be a different bandit girl you can capture by the wagon during Isan’s mission.
@Cataphrak Cool! Will this cast begin to factor into building our own adventuring party? Also, will we always have to be a Hero, or could we eventually become as reviled as Milius Black-Clad?
@all To those of you who don’t browse through @Cataphrak’s WIP thread of Guns of Infinity (Which I highly recommend) he mentioned not that long ago that the tentative title for the second game in the Hero of Kendrickstone series will be “The Cryptkeepers of Hallowford” which by the name seems to take place in Hallowford, the town our good old criminal mastermind friend William hails from.
Now I feel kind of bad for slacking off on typos in beta testing.
@Iggles
I’m thinking less in the way of a party, and more in the form of a network of contacts and allies which you can bring in for help. Maybe somewhere down the line, if I ever choose to conclude the series, you can call in all your favours, and have Dame Mildred fighting alongside your bandit ally, alongside Mundy of Bridgepor-
Wait, hold up, too much already.
How do you kill the bandit leader he keeps dodging even though I have the giant slayer sword and plus 7 prowess. I even stopped to fight the bandits coming to attack.
You might have to weaken him before he can be captured or killed.
It would be really cool if Caroline was a potential romantic character. Most games are too scared of writing something that the player could miss to put much effort into writing a character that can be killed early on, but having those kinda of choices gives a strong sense of player agency that a lot of games lack.
@Cataphrak How many sequels have you planned for this game,and will they be longer or shorter than this one?
TVTropes entry begins. I hope I nailed the real-world culture you were basing Korilandis on, @Cataphrak.
@Shoelip
Trust me, it’s been on my mind.
@Drini7
I think I’ll keep writing these until I run out of ideas. Chances are though, they’ll be “narrower” than Kendrickstone was, with less choices on the “minutiae” like paying rent and the like (because as an established adventurer, you don’t have to worry about that as much), but longer overall play time.
The idea I have for the first sequel is basically a good ol’fashioned dungeon-crawl with a twist.
@Ramidel
You did.
Though, I’m surprised Isan comes off as amoral. Maybe I’ve been writing this “moral ambiguity” thing for too long…
“This guy has an amulet that I can use. Steal it so I can use it.”
“Why are you wasting your time saving lives when you could get me some information on the bandits’ teleportation?”
Isan comes across as a mad scientist with a really bad case of tunnel vision.
William (my favorite character, by the way - I haven’t seen a character I love to hate so much in a while) comes across as far more ethical, or at least more concerned with ethical behavior. So long as you pay your insurance and don’t cross him, he’d look just fine in the opening scene of The Godfather.
