Can the MC do magic or something?

The MC may do so later on, once they know about it themselves. I’ve yet to decide on what type of magic that will be available though. :grinning:

@Addy3 Thanks for pointing out that typo!

I might as well warn y’all that I haven’t really had the time to proofread the upcoming part, so there’s probably lots of spelling mistakes (also partly due to the fact that I often write on my phone, which is prone to autocorrect incorrectly…)

Anyways, I’ve been thinking of removing the sexuality choice at the beginning, mostly because it kind of irks me, but also because it’s there to decide the gender of Morrigan (which can be done seperately by the player, when the introduction takes place). I was wondering what you’d prefer?

  • Keep it as it is.
  • Remove the sexuality defining question, and introduce a separate part to choose the gender of Morrigan.

Also, would you like me make an update of the game now, as it is (all branches aren’t finished for the current chapter, but most are), or wait until it’s all done?

  • Update the game as it is.
  • Complete the branches before updating.
  • Proofread this sh*t first.
  • Other?

I might be guilty to an overuse of polls, but I just can’t help it. They’re so much fun.

The main draw of this game seems to be exploring a new world but there doesn’t seem to be any description of the world in your post. Can you give a few details on what we might expect?

That’s a very good point.
For one thing I won’t be including much of the usual fantasy crew (elves, dwarfs, gnomes etc), perhaps a mention here and there. Instead, I’ll bring tidbits of things from various mythologies (mostly celtic, but some norse stuff too) into the game. A lot of it will be spent through different relations, not necessarily romantic ones— in order to get a better insight of the world. It’s kind of how I planed this thing. So you can’t really go solo. With that said this isn’t necessarily a lighthearted game, and therefore some of the content might be triggering (more on that once I update).

I started making this game in the name of self discovery, so while it might seem like you’re exploring a different world, I intend it to be just as much about your own character and their introspection.

Hope that answers your question! :hugs:

That’s a lot about what the world isn’t, but what about what it is? What makes it unique and enticing?

Eyo, now you got yourself a spoiler post

There will be moral dilemmas within the game, both for regular characters as well as the main one. History plays a big part in this, as you’ll become aware. You may choose how much of your past life you wish to remember, and thus understand of your current situation.

The different cultures within the game is something I hope will interest people. Also, the magic in the game is better explained and understood through spiritualism than anything else, and you have the option to explore it more, too.

Like previously mentioned, there will be dark themes. Manipulation/powerplay, death, gore, to name a few, and it’s not my intention to shy away from those things— rather to delve into. I’ll be honest here and say that the current demo is pretty meek in that regard. But I intend to change that. :raised_hands:t3:

Anyways, I hope that makes you understand it better. Not actually sure if my game brings anything new to the table, but I do hope it switch things around a bit!

I don’t mean to keep pressing, but … what kind of moral dilemmas? You can give a taste without giving away much of the story! It is easy to strike that balance.

For the cultures, we can’t be interested if you don’t tell us what they are! Not really sure why it’s being cloaked in such mystery and shadow, so I’ll be more direct: What are the cultures in the story?

And lastly the themes: what are they? Like specifically what dark themes are you exploring?

It’s much more important to give a rundown of why someone might be interested in your story than to preserve every single mystery about exactly what kind of game and story you’re writing. It’s a huge risk to be this coy with details because someone who might really enjoy the game is very likely to miss out!

And let me clarify that none of the things you put in spoilers even came remotely close to being spoilers! Those are basic elements of your story that you’d put on the back cover of the book, so to speak.

It’s not that easy for me, hence the mystery. This is the first thing I’ve ever shared while it is still in progress, and I’ve never done that, because I just go full on hermit until the work is done, heh. Thanks for the questions though, I don’t mind at all! :grinning:

The kind where you decide who lives and who dies, to search for truth or to be loyal (also clashes of loyalties). Lots of it has to do with what you tell vs what you do not, and the consequences of that.

Generally celtic, with some of it specifically gaelic. The story takes place ~450 BC, so prior to the viking age. I’ve incorporated some of the structures present, like the feudal systems (I’ll refer to the celtic version on this, where there’s three major classes. The upper being the warrior class, the second druids/priests/judges, and the lowest made out of commoners). Some mythologies I’ve chosen to include in the game are ā€œThe children of Lirā€, ā€œThe MorrĆganā€, and the tale of Fafnir.

I’ll explore death quite a bit, and probably the greyscale between the life and death while I’m at it. Depending on how the game branches you’ll also face, more or less explicit, the harsh acts of survival people can be driven toward if pushed enough.
