I don’t think it comes across as “love at first sight” at all. It very much reads as “I find this woman very appealing, it seems to be mutual, and I’d like to explore that connection - I sense this could be the beginning of something truly special,” rather than “Yup, she’s The One, I’m ready to make a lifetime commitment or else resign myself to a lifetime of tragic pining.”

On a side thought, you could always set the povs as side content to read in the codex? Just suggesting. It’s ok if you don’t want to.

I’ve considered this for the final game. If I do, I probably won’t release them until it’s ready to publish. But I have had this thought and will ponder it a while.
Thank you! I actually have one (or two) game ideas where you can play as full Fae, but I’m having fun with the Fae-blooded human perspective in this story. Glad to hear you are, too!
This is what I’m going for. Hopefully there’s enough interaction in the first scene with Angelina now for it to feel like a reasonable conclusion, and that the POV scene of Angelina’s storyline will give people a better idea of who she is. That will be coming in the public update at the end of the month.

DEMO UPDATE! 
The public demo link has been updated and you can now find The Eternal Library on COGdemos. It looks like you can still save. I haven’t had time to do a playthrough yet, so if anyone finds bugs please let me know!
I was planning on doing an update all at once at the end of the month, but since I had to switch the files over I figured I’d give you an improved version. The end point is the same as before, a third of the way through chapter three, but I’ve done some work on the first few chapters and added POV scenes.

This update includes:
- A scene from Princess Angelina’s POV at the end of chapter one.

DEMO UPDATE AND PROGRESS REPORT:
Can you believe it’s already the end of January? As promised, the public demo of The Eternal Library has been updated to include all of chapter three (link in top post).
I’m nearly finished with the first draft of chapter four, which will go out to Patreon subscribers for early access once I’ve had a chance to do a read-through and polish it up a bit. I’m hoping to have that ready in a week or so.
I’ve been feeling the ebb and flow of energy this month. As we get into the deep winter up here in Canada, my body craves extra sleep. My days are full and my family is my priority, so some days I have time for writing and other days I do not. I have to give myself permission to rest, recharge, and get outside for walks with my dog. Down time helps provide the kind of inspiration and endurance it takes to write a project like this.
My guess is chapter four will be around 25k words (currently 23k). That would take the WIP to 90,000 words, and I feel like I’ve barely started telling the story. It’s possible this might be my longest IF novel yet. Their Majesties’ Pleasure is over 225k words and Ink and Intrigue is over 350k.
I started working on this project less than four months ago and the WIP is already nearing 90k words. I’m pretty impressed with that! As the story and variables get more complicated progress may be a bit slower, but I’ll keep marching steadily onward.
A week or so ago it occurred to me that I’m going to have to write two versions of chapter five. There will be a major branch split at the end of chapter four, offering one adventure or another before the storyline comes back together in chapter six. I’m both excited and apprehensive about how much work it will involve, but I’m quite sure it will be worth it!

I’ve slowed down in the past couple of weeks, honestly. My family keeps getting hit with colds and flus and things, so lots of rest and less words happening. Also, as I get further along in the story and it gets more complicated my brain demands more breaks. So, yeah. It’ll be a bit slower, but I’ll keep at it, and will be cheering your writing on as I do!

Loved the sparring scene with Marienna in the new demo. She’s definitely the character I’m most interested in at the moment; hoping for more opportunities to get to know her going forwards! From her description (“sharp eyes and golden-brown skin”) I was imagining her to have Asian features - is that what you intended? Is this game eventually going to have artwork of the characters like the previous two?

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Yes, Marienna’s features mean she could easily fit into many Asian cultures, should she drop through a portal to our world.
As for artwork, while I would like to commission character art it really depends on what I’m able to bring in via Patreon. The artwork for TMP and Ink were both commissioned by Heart’s Choice. Since I’m doing this one on my own for Hosted Games, any artwork I commission will come out of my pocket. This is one of the reasons I’m offering Patreon membership, to help bring in some income while I’m writing and hopefully earn enough to commission artwork.
Six ROs means six characters an artist would need to create, which is no small feat and won’t be cheap. We shall see how it goes. For now, I’ll continue to make art myself and work on the story. Thanks for playing!
