I didn’t think about asia while reading, more in lines of magical world like “avatar the last airbender” or “12 kingdoms” , were fantasy world is inspired by and eastern cultures, but don’t represent any specifically.

So will you be the trickster side-character that helps/harms the heroes in their journey? That’s what I interpreted it as.
If that’s the case, how much can you mess with the heroes before they consider you an enemy?

@Interestedparty
It depends. Chapter 1 will be all about the MC.

Chapter 2 is where you meet the heroes, you will be able to interact with them directly or indirectly.

You could use shapeshifting to disguise yourself as a human who wants to join the party.
Or maybe as a monster, revealing yourself before getting seriously hurt.

You could use illusions to make the heroes get lost, and then jump out of the woods and help them to earn their trust.
Or you could replace the item they are looking for with a fake copy to sabotage their quest.

Elemental Powers! You could attack the enemy they are fighting, or maybe them.
Or you could summon a thunderstorm and then offer your cave as a shelter.

Psychic Powers! You could stalk the heroes, messing with their minds, slowly driving them to madness.
Or perhaps you could modify their quest, or manipulate the mind of the party leader to accept you into the group for who you are.

I’m still thinking about the possibilities, but generally, being subtle will make them see you as an annoyance, while being more direct and extreme will make them see you as an enemy almost instantly.

It may also be possible to earn their trust without using any abilities at all, you just need to be good with your words and actions.

Of course, it will be impossible for the adventurers to trust you right away, because they have done a lot of research before actually hunting monsters and completing quests, so you are pretty much the last person a human would trust.

I don’t want to say too much about it because spoilers are bad, but you might not be alone at this point, and earning their trust could end up getting easier or harder because of this other character.

As a side note: I was thinking about adding a somewhat crazy twist. The Main Character cannot die without losing his/her tails. That means you might be able to let them kill you, and then come back from the dead later, immune to what killed you, and keep stalking them, just like Jason from friday the 13th.

I know, I know, this sounds overpowered, but each time you die, your sanity meter goes down, making the MC more and more unstable and unpredictable, eventually resulting in complete insanity and loss of control.

hmm… sorry for the wall of text, sometimes my keyboard becomes sapient and starts typing words by itself.

That sounds pretty awesome. I always love that insane trickster that helps and “helps” the heroes while they go along their journey. Always wanted a game where you could be that guy

Reminds me of Doomsday, it’s a DC villain born on the same planet as Superman. He’s a genetic experiment to create the perfect being. Every time he is killed, his body(which remains indestructible), goes into a comatose state and adapts to whatever killed him. He has no sanity or control, he’s just an embodiment of rage that kills anything that wakes him up.

@TechDragon610, are you telling me that this is the face of someone with no sanity or control?

How did you find a picture of me before I got my evil/insane side under control?
Oh wait… thats doomsday nvm.

@faewkless, you’re never going to believe this, but I wrestled a bear to get that picture. Obviously, it was safe guarding it along with its picnic baskets.

The bear had pic-ah-nic baskets?
Why don’t you get me one.
(Hides zipper on back)

Well, when you bring pics like that he reminds me of a teddy bear.

Hey are you going to make a way to get back sanity and if so will it be easy or hard

How bad for me is if i am going complete insane? :smirk:

I wouldn’t worry insanity is a fun warm place.

Probably very well ya know

@Generikb
I wouldn’t see insanity as a bad thing, it is more like a personality.

A character with a low amount of sanity will most likely creep everyone else out (If chaotic neutral/evil) or become a Cloudcuckoolander (if chaotic good).

It might be possible to earn your sanity back by meditating (a lot) or using some kind of holy spell.

The thing about insanity is that 90% of the time, you’re unaware you’re insane. So perhaps you could completely hide certain choices based on sanity, as if they never even would have crossed the psycho MC’s mind and vise versa.

Now im gonna be an insane chaotic good character
cause I love those kinds of people (I’m kinda one)

@TechDragon610
That is kinda like what I plan to do, some choices will be set up like this:

Things that an insane character wouldn’t think about.
*if (sanity > 85) #choice
stuff.
*if (sanity > 60) #choice2
stuff
*if (sanity > 40) #choice3
stuff
*if (sanity > 20) #choice4
stuff

Same structure works for choices that only an insane character would pick.

*if (sanity < 85) #choice
stuff
*if (sanity < 60) #choice2
.
.
.
And so on.

But please keep in mind that I’m not trying to simulate insanity exactly like it happens in real life, because that wouldn’t be as fun as having a more openly crazy character, this is a game after all

Edit: Wow, looks like people are actually accepting the idea of a character who can come back from the dead losing sanity after each death. I will be using it then

I will be insane chaotic evil! This is certain doom for all! Hahahahahaha!!! :joy:

I think there should be some sarcasm involved when someone kills you. “What?! I killed you!”
“Yeah, that was a few hours ago, get with the program genius.”
