Oh my god, I am absolutely thrilled with this story! I adore royal settings, it’s a solid second place for me, right after fantasy.
The plot is so interesting! The premise, the characters, the relationships… the prophecy and what it means for the protagonist is incredibly intriguing. I also really like the distinction between ‘traditional’ and ‘non-traditional’ gender behavior. I’m playing as a male MC, and it immediately caught my eye that behavior and decisions have consequences, as well as a reaction from others. It’s just fantastic!
And the relationship with the RO is so sweet! He’s so handsome, so cute and energetic! Lux reminds me of a puppy. A faithful puppy who follows you everywhere. I’m sure it’s extremely hard to survive in a palace full of intrigue, rivalry, set-ups, and betrayal. It’s so easy to lose sight of empathy, kindness, and what’s right in a place like palace.
But I love playing as kind MC who will definitely show Lux the right path through love and support. Can’t wait for the update!

There will be a couple of endings where the MC and Lux won’t end up being in a relationship, but this won’t be until the very end of the game. So you will have to be in a relationship with them for the majority of the game, and most of the endings, but there is that option if it interests you.

Thank you very much for your kind words! I’m so so glad that you enjoy the plot, characters, and world that I’ve been buildings. Your choices will certainly matter, especially as time goes on in the game.

I’m so glad that you like Lux! I truly enjoy writing them. May you guide them down the right path and into being a good person!

sounds fine by me, thanks for having that option after all

and as a counterbalance for those interested in the good path, lemme just say that im hyped for the evil path. as a reader of samuel h youngs works (the original unpublished ones, some of which were HEAVILY sanitized to be published later) i can assure you that even the deepest depths of depravity wont scare me away

Corruption Question

Hi everyone! So I’ve been deliberately keeping the stats of corruption hidden from y’all so far so that you couldn’t track it. I wanted Lux and the MC’s corruption levels to be at least somewhat of a surprise going forward. Or, at the very least, didn’t want them to be easily tracked. I felt, at the time, that maybe it was a good idea to keep you all somewhat in the dark about corruption levels.

But recently I’ve been thinking that maybe it’s a good idea to allow you all some insight into corruption levels. Maybe allowing you to see the concrete of evidence of what you’re sowing is more fair, but also more enjoyable from a game mechanic standpoint.

So, with this being the case, I ask you:

Would you like the corruption stats to be visible?

  • No, keep them hidden
  • Yes, make them visible
  • No preference/See Results

Important Deliberations

Hello everyone! So a while ago, I told you all that I was deliberating over adding Ymeric and Cordelia as ROs. People mainly seemed to say no because they worried that Lux would get less attention because of the others and that they would feel less special in comparison to Lux.

The brainworms have not left me for Ymeric and Cordelia to be made ROs, I fear. My friend suggested that I make routes for each of them and tweak the MC’s propehcy slightly for each of them. That I gave you all a choice at the beginning of the game on who to romance, and that for the duration of the game you would be carried through that route. So, essentially, you would still be playing through a single RO game, just as one of three routes if that makes sense. And I will not lie to you my friends, I am considering this option.

This is not a guarantee that I will or will not do it. I might decide against it, but I also might decide in favor of it. It is simply an announcement to tell you all that I’m considering it, because I don’t want to blindside you all with a sudden change.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Played through the current demo, and was super bummed when I hit the end of the current content. I really like the world and the feel of it all. I think your prose when writing is really conducive to this type of storytelling. It’s definitely a WIP I’ll be keeping up with.

I hope you do this honestly. I think its a really good idea!!!

RO Decision

Okay everyone. I have deliberated very carefully on my decision on adding Ymeric and Cordelia as ROs. And I have ultimately decided against it. Lux will remain as the only RO.

I really, badly wanted to add them. I absolutely adore Ymeric and Cordelia as characters, and that adoration of them lended me to want to make them romantic options. But ultimately, I need to be disciplined as a writer. The story is wrapped around the MC’s relationship with Lux. Their dynamic is at the heart of the game. And the game is already shaping up to be a monster. If I were to add two new routes for Ymeric and Cordelia, I fear it would scope creep and balloon past anything feasible to write.

So yeah. Here we have it. I will still end up writing side games for Ymeric and Cordelia eventually, because I adore them and want to give them their time in the limelight. But when it comes to what is right for the game, for what serves the story and the mechanics, Lux remaining as the only RO just makes the most sense.

Thank you to everyone who offered insight into their views on the matter. And thank you to everyone who has stuck with me patiently through all of this. As I said before, this will be the last time I bring this up as an issue. Now that I have made this decision, it is final and iron-clad.

I love you all.

I’m so glad that you enjoyed the game! As someone who’s put a lot of effort into the worldbuilding, I am so very glad that you enjoy the world. And I’m self-conscious about my prose sometimes, so it relieves me to hear that you’re enjoying it. Thank you very much for your kind words!

What is the type of “specialized content” we can expect from the names?

You could always have a spinoff or sequel involving those two later. But definitely smart not to over-commit.

The names Emery and Elysia(n) are directly linked to Caius and Isolde’s first loves respectively. As a result of this, you’ll get specialized versions of some scenes later on in the game with them. They’ll also view/approach the MC’s relationship with Lux somewhat differently.

Yeah, a spinoff/AU is what I might end up doing :head_shaking_vertically:

Cant say im not a tad disappointed i also really like yemric and was excited at the idea of romancing them but i do respect it. In the end its your story and you have every right to decide what direction you go with it and im sure the game will still be epic!!!

I think It’s the fourth time already, don’t get your hopes up everytime :joy:

It’s good to have focus, plus you can always go back later when Lux’s story is done and add in routes for other ROs if you end up changing your mind down the road. You could do something like Throne of Ashes, where the broad story strokes are the same but each RO (chosen at the beginning) has their own route.

Really like this WIP so far, great prose and neat setting. The only thing I’ve found is a little spelling error
