Omg… viking… I can’t unsee that now!
But yeah, that’s him. And the other one is Straasa. I like them both, but Straasa is the kind I don’t like to romance, I like these as friends so yeah. He remains very friendly - I dunno what happens if you romance him though. And that may also change in the second book - it’s not released yet so yeah.
Morkai isn’t my type, looks wise - I hate beards that are anything more than stubs. But I like him enough to accept how he looks. Besides, the characters have alternate artworks that I like waaay more than the ones present in game.
I won’t repost these, and I wouldn’t be able to find them again, but if you wish to see, I can send them to you by PM.

And the last RO is Manerkol! You made it even more complicated than it already is!

You’re welcome!

I feel the same way about beards. A stubble can be very sexy (omg Derek Hale, I summon thee!), but… Wait. Perhaps I shouldn’t say these things. Some of the readers could have fabulous beards. Like Gimli… As Mariah says, we love everybody. I’m just not attracted to bushy beards. :innocent:

Could you really? I’d appreciate that!

Right! That was the name. I think I once read a very weird fan-fiction about him on AO3. Or maybe it was about Hermaeus Mora? There were definitely tentacles involved… I’m not sure now.

Love the new updates!

The new chapter headers are really nice, and I’m appreciating the [stat boost] descriptors for the deities and home town! Also I love that the MC and Z have common sense about the water lol, I feel like there are so many times that the narration brushes over details that the characters should notice. And I really want to break all the rules and wander around the temple but that would probably get me killed :’)

Question, maybe it’s been answered already: Can I betray Menkuare? He’s cool but does he deserve to be saved? Hmmm haha. And how high does the Z relationship need to be for them to stay?

Neither can I @Konoi! Thanks @Dariel

And I actually love both M RO’s! Manerkol tho(:two_hearts:)… just chef’s kiss if you ask me. But of course it’s a matter of taste like with everything. And to finish my shameless gushing over M with a less of a off-topic note… As I said before Menkaure gives me a little bit of those M vibes. Can’t complain. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Damn this game is creepy as hell

@Aerin I’m glad you like the new content!

You feel that way in this game? Could you tell me more about it? I’ve been trying to make sure the MC doesn’t feel like your typical horror character, but perhaps I’m not doing a good enough job.

I have not thought of that, but that is an excellent idea, and I’m definitely going to implement it into the game. Thank you!

And thanks for the typos!

@Lotta To be honest, Menkaure is probably a bit more reasonable than Manerkol. Well, not exactly. A sane Menkaure is definitely more reasonable! Once you manage to raise his sanity, he will actually become quite stable. As I said before, he won’t be good or virtuous, but he won’t really be evil either.

I’m honestly not sure if you meant this as a compliment, but I am going to take it as one. I wanted the game to be creepy and unsettling! So… thank you! :upside_down_face:

Definitely a compliment!

Hey I’m back for more!
So, I ended up starting my Singer playthrough!
As expected, I really really love Menkaure. As weird as he seems, he also seems extremely sweet in a way, so I totally understand the things you were saying about him! I’m eager to know more!

Sooo… I’ll be reporting various things I’ve found, as usual!

When meeting Zephyros while aiming for Menkaure as RO:

I’ve noticed one thing that I couldn’t really realize when aiming for Zephyros!
When you first see him, the MC can be attracted to him (“It makes me feel warm inside. I’m attracted to men.”), think he’s objectively attractive but not feel anything because he prefers women, think the gender is irrelevant because he’s attracted to men and women, or not be interested in sex or romance at all…
But I think it would be good to have an option that would say something like “He’s attractive, but not my type. I AM attracted to men though.”
As it is, the MC can’t like men yet not be attracted to Zephyros specifically. I guess same goes for the female counterpart.

Also, a typo after the dream:

“As you rub your thumb against it, you hear aa soft whisper.”
Doubled “a” by the end.

Other typo when talking to Zephyros at the temple:

Appears in a dialogue that’s present if not romancing him or having a relationship that’s a bit lower anyway (or maybe sanity, since it’s lower when not romancing him, right?..).
“This place is dangerous, and I am not talking aboout the kind of danger I can deal with.”
Doubled “o” in “about”.

I found myself able to scan Apepi's chambers with magic...:

And well, the magic detects three points of interest, and then you can inspect them. But two of them were greyed out (only the candle was avaible). I guess it depends on stats or choices or whatever other things, but could you tell me what makes one item or the other selectable?

A small weird thing about the headers:

For some reason, the header image of chapter 3 never loads for me. The ones of the others chapters work just fine.

Is it possible to make Zephyros stay if not romancing him?

He didn’t in my singer playthrough - though I guess it’s for the best for him and his sanity, and besides I’d feel guilty for not romancing him if he’d be here. But still curious about that. If yes, what is the required affection level? Or maybe is the friendship path not implemented yet?

When talking to Persenet and asking if she has a lot of work:

She says, among other things: “I’m a bit surprised because I’ usually expected to talk about other people and things that aren’t necessarily connected to me.”
I guess it was supposed to be “I’m usually expected to (…)”

Back to my Rogue:

Once the caravan leaves and Persenet guides MC and Zephyros around the temple, I’ve noticed sometimes I’m unsure who talks - MC or Zephyros. I don’t have any specific instance as I thought that a couple of times, but I can look it up again. Having played that section with the Singer first, I think it’s because the scenes were first written with only MC in mind, and then some of the lines were given to Zephyros for when he’s present, depending on the playthrough. So sometimes when it goes back to MC the narration doesn’t specify it, or things like that.

Okay! I think that’s it for now!

Mmm I see your point… I think my Menkaure’s sanity is at 50% atm, so not too exciting. On the other hand we didn’t had that many opportunities to talk with him yet, so I guess it’s not too bad either. I’m not sure exactly what kind of choices are affecting his sanity stat tho.
On a side note I think Manerkol is actually a pretty reasonable man, just his methods are well… questionable to put it lightly…

It’s a bit of a shame that during our time in the tample so far there is no mention or any reference from other characters if our MC is a Priestess/Priest (mine a Ra one too ). Or maybe I missed it… But I was just thinking that it would made sense in a way, if the other priests or Apepi would notice/mention something about that fact? Or maybe if our MC had a choice to do so? It would just add some unique flavor/feel to Priestess/Priest path.(In my opinion ofc!)

I’m curious too, for me one of them was greyed out tho (“Wall” if I remember correctly).

Same, it was a bit confusing.

I desperately need to do that because this is what makes it impossible for the MC to be friends with Zeph (Myr) and attracted to men (women)at the same time.

Everyone can notice the candle. The sword requires: >=50 magic, the wall: >=65 magic.

I’ll look into it!

The friendship is in the game! I just need to change that thing I mentioned. ^^

I’ll change things up as soon as possible! I must have been a bit tired.

You mostly need to be submissive and polite. Oh! Flirting with other characters decreases Menkaure’s sanity…

I will think about this, but it’s not that easy with the, ahem, priests. There are some things only priests manage to notice though. There was even a thing during the conversation with Persenet.
Like this: “But, Persenet, I am a ${class}. I can enter the inner sanctum, and I should be able to enter that part of the temple as well, shouldn’t I?”
Oh, shoot. The coding was wrong. It should appear in the next update!

@Konoi The relationship with Z/M has to be >=65 if you want them to stay.

That’s interesting, actually!
I wouldn’t think of doing that so that wouldn’t happen in my playthrough.

Changelog
9 August 2020

  • Made it possible for the player to say that Z/M are not their type. You should now be able to access the friendship path.
  • Made the conversation with Persenet easier to understand (who says what).
  • Corrected some typos.

Ohh that’s exactly the kind of stuff I was hoping for! But yeah I’m more then sure I didn’t got that line in my playthrough, nice to know it should (and will) be there.

Interesting! Thank you for the hint.

That makes me think about something.
It won’t be relevant to any of my playthroughs, but I’m genuinely curious… With the friendship path now fully functional, is it actually possible for the MC to think Zephyros isn’t his type when meeting him, and genuinely aim for friendship with him at the beginning, but for that friendship to become love, as the story progresses?
I mean, even if he isn’t his type, it’s not impossible for feelings to bloom when you spend time with someone, even if you were not attracted at the beginning.
Not to mention, Zephyros seems like the flirty type, and if he stills shows interest in the MC even if doing the friendship path, that would make it even more of a possibility.

While I would love to be able to do something like that, the whole story lasts 7 days. I’d say that romances and friendships are kind of tricky as they are.
I will include something, but it’ll probably be a single choice near the end of the game and paragraph or two in one of the epilogues. Would that be alright?

My other project, Chronicles of Sekherion, will be much longer (5 books), and that will create much more room for romances, rivalries and friendships to grow.
Something like that will certainly be possible in the Chronicles.

Ooh, I didn’t know it’ll all happen in such a short amount of time. But it makes sense, yeah.
Sure, obviously it wouldn’t make sense to evolve from friendship to love so fast if there’s no attraction from the start.
But yeah, a choice at the end to suggest something may happen in the future may be a nice idea.

But as I said, this isn’t really relevant to my playthroughs - in my Rogue game, I’m going for attraction from the very beginning, and in my Singer playthrough I won’t be doing any romantic choices not related with Menkaure.

Well you know, I love me a good backstabbing every now and then

Although I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens when Menkuare visits my dreams

Actually, the awareness of the MC is a lot better then in typical horror films, so I was applauding that in regards to MC and Zephyros. I wasn’t frustrated about the MC missing things, more of curious and wishing there were more dialogue options.

For Example (possible spoilers)
  • The MC didn’t really have a reaction when the servants screamed “Noooo” at them, and I was a bit amused and confused about that. Is it bc ‘normal citizens’ don’t ever interact with servants or people of a lower class? Or did it have to do with something more sinister about the temple?

  • Also, multiple times the MC notices Persenet’s strange behavior- like she’s on edge, or someone is listening- how come we never get the chance to ask her about that later, like when she shows us to our room? Even if she just responds “I can’t talk about that now,” or “Come find me later,” I think that would be a nice dialogue option to have and could create more intrigue around the ‘something’s wrong’ vibe.

  • Maybe this has to do more with the historical setting than the story, but MC also never questions why they can’t explore other places. Just a simple “I wonder why I can’t go to X.” (Unless my memory is horrible and that kind of line does exist, then apologies).
This also might already be in the next chapter but I’d really like to see the MC try to go somewhere they’re not allowed, but they get a harsh warning from a priest, Menkuare, or even their deity.

Hmm I think that’s all I can remember for now…

Also, now that the Zephyros friend path is available, does that mean there’s a chance he’ll stay even if you didn’t pick any [romance] options?

Something will definitely happen, but, since this scene will be at the end of Chapter 3 (so rather early in the game), it may not be as big as you might expect…

That part was one of the only moments that were simply supposed to be humorous. I hope it’s not too disappointing.

I will definitely add that. It would make sense for the MC to actually think something about her behavior. I might also add that “Come find me later”. Thanks!

Actually, this is kind of connected to the setting. Egyptians (except for priests) knew that they weren’t allowed to enter the inner parts of temples. And if you’re a priest, you can tell Persenet that you have the right to enter the inner sanctum.
There will be options for the MC to go where they’re not wanted. That’s kind of the whole plot… xD Some of these options will be available quite soon.

Yes! It should be possible! :upside_down_face:

I can’t talk for Aerin, but I AM curious about that part, even if it’s early in the game and “not as big” as one might expect!

Oh that’s right! It was so obvious to me that I didn’t even think twice about it! But maybe it would be good to add something about it in the glossary or whatever? I’m pretty sure most people not into egyptology won’t necessarily know.

I think I’ll keep it with Zephyros not there for now, in my Singer playthrough. Makes it easier to spot inconsistencies or weird things between playthroughs where he’s with the MC and playthroughs where he left. Not to mention the guilt factor I was talking about earlier. It’s actually very convenient for Menkaure not to be there in my Rogue playthrough, and for Zephyros to have left in my Singer playthrough.

I think I’m going to add an entry about the inner sanctum. Perhaps even one about temples in general. It could be useful.

I’m grateful for that! :innocent:
