GI Joe is known more for missing their targets than standing toe to toe with metahumans as equals.
Style wise the PC seems more like a certain Commander Shepard but shepard either has superpowers or high tech tricks that he might as well have in most classes, so Soldier Shep.
@Shintaro I’m glad it comes off that way, I’ve tried to put a lot of thought into it.
@Muklin I’m glad you liked the joke. My initial character concept for John was very Superman-like, but he’s ended up evolving pretty far away from the Big Blue Boy Scout.
@AngeloftheBroken Thanks for the compliment on my writing. I was actually a bit nervous when I started writing this. I’ve been doing so much legal/business writing lately, I was afraid I’d forgotten how to write creatively. Also, I have the exact same problem as you. I have a terrible weakness for badboy types.
@Beezlebub It’s really cool hearing so many people say it reminds them of Watchmen. I’m a huge Alan Moore fan, and Watchmen was actually the very first comic book I ever read, so I take it as a very flattering comparison.
@stsword You pretty much have the right of it. Your character will probably pick up some new skills and gadgets along the way (one of the perks of working with a company like Black Matter), but actual powers are pretty much out. Much like Batman, the PC doesn’t need super powers to be one of the most dangerous people on the planet.
@P0Rt3R I think the team is probably too dysfunctional to qualify as real American heroes, but that would acknowledge that knowing is half the battle.

I’d just like to say that I’m glad the MC is a non-power ass kicker. It suits the story, the world seems to see meta humans as a threat so it makes sense that even when they use them in a team they’d want a normal human leading them.

Update news
My first update, yay!
The first option for recruiting Kat is up, and Alex’s entire recruitment mission is almost done. I hopefully should have that one coded and ready to go by Tuesday.
This update isn’t as big as I wanted it to be, but I had fun working on it, and I hope y’all still enjoy it.
Don’t worry, about the size! Quality > Size.
Now if you’ll excuse me, i got a demo to go through.

I’m enjoying the story. It kind of reminds me a bit of X-men a bit. I actually can’t wait to see what Alex was like in the next update.

Played the update and enjoyed it. It made me sad though as I quite liked Alex, my character Cameron Shepard wants to treat him like his younger brother but “I” know he is dead and that makes me sad!
I’m hoping he isn’t actually dead and his death is faked. It makes me sad too thinking that he’s dead. I liked Alex as well.
