Okay, the other routes are sealed, but we can probably all fit through this sewer pipe one at a time army crawling. It may a tight fit but it should work. Objections?
Is that a situation where Damon would whine? (A lot)
For advanced drivers, could we slam the evil Osama leader terrorist in the end with a wrecking ball trap as he is mouthing off to a helpless Alex? That would be funny.
And that’s good Damon isn’t actually a liability. I guess I’ll just need to work on getting him interested in anything we do and making it sound so very fascinating.
@God_of_Demonz There would be much whining. Luckily for Damon, he’s one of the most brilliant men on Earth and a very firm believer in the idea that no problem has only one solution, so he’d probably be able to figure something out.
It would be pretty funny, but I don’t think that would work on the Big Bad.
@FairyGodfeather You could probably get that to work at least some of the time. Damon likes solving puzzles. If the solution is easy or obvious he couldn’t care less, but if it’s truly challenging you could probably even get him to crawl through that sewer pipe @God_of_Demonz was talking about.
@stsword True, but she might make an exception if she thought it would be funny (“So I couldn’t help but notice this copy of Twilight you keep in your room Mr./Ms. Badass Navy Seal”). She’d give it back though, so technically not stealing, just borrowing without permission.
What if I were to take along a Sudoku book? Or would that be too easy? What if I were to drop extremely cryptic notes in order to coax him to join us? Like the Riddler, only it’d be me doing them instead of the villain.
He’s now strangely reminding me of The Patrician from the Discworld, at least with the love of puzzles.
@FairyGodfeather Too simple, not nearly enough variables for his tastes. His taste for puzzles runs more toward geopolitics and international business. Damon’s really only interested in solving the big problems (or going up against someone who’s as smart as he is).
@Chriswa27 and @Roslyn_samalt06 I love me some Owen and Damon. Like you said, they’re pretty much polar opposites, so I cannot wait to write some of their banter.
@FortunesFaded It’s always nice when people really like the MC. Hopefully it means that I’m providing enough options for people to really feel like they’re defining a character.
How do you write believable smart characters? I’m a firm believer that it’s better to show your character’s attributes than to tell them to the readers. But whenever I try to write a supposedly-smart character and their supposedly brilliant plan, I can never really write something I feel comfortable attributing to a genius.
I actually saw Damon and Owen to be very similar. Neither are very emotional, neither really care how a job gets done as long as it gets done, and money talks for them both. The only difference I really saw was Damon relies more on intellect and having minions while Owen loves a good fight and is the minion.
@hahaha01357 I agree with you that writing super smart characters can be difficult. I mean, Damon is definitely smarter than I am. For me, I think one of the things that helps the most is taking a lot of inspiration from real smart people and other well-written intelligent characters.
@Dark_Bear2899 All of that is certainly true, and they do share quite a few qualities, but there are some fundamental differences that I think are going to come out more the further you get into the game. I think the biggest difference is in their worldview. Damon is all about the long term and having these grand complicated plans, whereas Owen is all about the present and sort of skimming through life. While you’re right that money is important for both of them, the value they attach to it is different. Damon sees money as a tool for accomplishing his goals and as a scoreboard, I way of showing he’s as good as he says he. Owen just sees money as “that thing that buys me fun stuff.” I don’t even want to think how may fortunes he’s blown through
@Dolphinzgirl
All too true. Damon did seem pretty full of himself on the dossier after all. Heh, that kind of sounds like my brother and I, where as I am a girl version of Damon and my brother is Owen…wow, Owen just got a LOT less attractive all of a sudden…
NEVER compare a video game RO to someone irl. It’ll ruin your view of them. That’s also why I don’t watch book movies to. Hollywood actors ruining my metal image of a character
