@Nocturnal_Stillness Yeah, easy to like is not really a phrase I would use to describe John or Owen. Although I will say for all that he’s a jerk, Owen is probably the least likely character to act against the MC’s interests.
@darkstar2101 Yeah, I think the speculation has been one of my favorite things, too.
While I do absolutely love this game so far (And I’ll go more into detail about it later), I could go either way with the death. That said, I agree with @P_Tigras -It’s certainly why I didn’t stick around after it become too much of a money drain and I realized there were better stories- and @R3dstr1n .
I myself am a bit woozy about the idea of it being a story told in hindsight (especially given we already know what happens to everybody), so having it broken up in three by a new crisis would seem more to my liking. But that being said, I do think it works amazingly as is, and if you do go for it you have to handle it very, very carefully.
@Turtler At its heart, this is a game about love, loss, and growing up. I’m going to try and stay away from anything that ultimately detracts from that focus, so as it stands now, Alex’s death is sadly necessary.
This is amazing so far! I adore all the characters, though Alex is making my heart hurt… Keep up the awesome work, I already love this more than most of the CoG stories I’ve actually paid for. Crazy awesome.
Since my character is similar to Damon in ways of thinking I feel little at the death of Alex. A good character to be sure, but He almost made me vomit. For that he shall have some the most strenuous training exercises I can think of. I’ll cleanse him of that carefree-tease-man-with-nuke-launch-button attitude. He may hate me at the end of it, but I’m really doing him a favor. (Though he will be very…very, tired when I’m done with him and will need to spend a day or two in recuperation after the nightmare training I’ve got in store for him
@staubfinger Thank you so much, you are a total sweetheart! Your post totally made my day
@God_of_Demonz There are actions you can take in the game that can cause Alex to lose his carefree attitude, but strenuous training isn’t one of them (although the mental image your post gave me was pretty amusing). Still, Alex survived two-a-days in the Georgia summer, he can handle any training you through at him.
Please excuse the long post, but in light’a my recent comment (and my love of this game so far… keep goin’ man I really do love this!)
IN MILITARY

The Boss?
What about training with scenarios such as “Now Alex, what would you rather do, kick the puppy, or steal candy from the starving baby?”
No? I guess we’re not training up villains.
I feel sad that Alex’s death is inevitable, but I agree that it’s needed. That for him to still be alive would shake the entire premise of the game. That it makes it just like another cheap publicity stunt that the comics do all the time, promising that certain characters will remain dead forever only to have them revive in a few years time. It means nothing anymore, and in that they lose emotional impact. If people’s favourite character is dead no need to worry since they just need to wait, or read any of the other comics which they’re in.
So I do agree, I think Alex needs to be dead. But also, I think that his death needs to have meaning. There should be the option for either vengeance or forgiveness. For me, one of the hardest things that hits about death is the inability to say goodbye. The complete lack of closure even as it’s so achingly final.
While we can’t have it in real life, in fiction I like death to have meaning. I want Alex to have died doing what he needed to, saving the world. I want his death to be important to more than just his ex-team members. I want to be proud of him for what he did, even though it meant the ultimate sacrifice.
And I want one of those videos which he’s pre-recorded, where he says goodbye.
@Bagelthief It’s a little sad how long it took me to figure out what you were referencing
@FairyGodfeather If I can think of something interesting to do with it and a place in the story where it fits, I will include a training montage.
I totally get where you’re coming from with the rest of your post. Underneath all of the explosions and action and superpowers, this is basically a bittersweet character drama, and pretty much everything you said are things I feel are necessary to make that work.
The ending actually has a couple of different variations depending on your choices that impact things like the meaningfulness of Alex’s death and how much closure you got. Although I will say that Alex’s death always has meaning, at least in the context of the story. There’s no ending where Alex just gets hit by a bus for example.
No pre-recorded videos, but there are a couple different letters you can find depending on your choices and your relationship with Alex.
@Dolphinzgirl
YOU EVEN HAVE AN “ADVANCED CLOSE QUARTERS COMBAT” OPTION IN THEIR BACKSTORY TELL ME THIS ISN’T INTENTIONAL HOLY-
No man, that’s what ya doin’, you’re doin’ it intentionally, aren’tcha? Secretly. You secretive secret person, you. I’m on to you.
Man, even if you’re not you gotta reference this somehow. There are too many similarities already to shrug this kinda thin’ off.
Haven’t been back in a while, have to say: I love all the romance options, I can’t decide which one they’re all amazing. And we haven’t even got to actual romance!
I have an idea for all the Alex lovers why don’t we do what they did in for example beyond two souls and just turn him into a spirit. Just an idea so you won’t have to change the beginning . Or maybe reminiscing about the life you had a little while he was alive .
Well Torchwood and Agents of SHIELD are kinda similar really, group of 6 people protecting the Earth from dangerous threats and ensuring people don’t get their grubby paws on alien tech. Would love a SHIELD/Torchwood crossover - Agent Coulson and Jack Harkness would get on awesomely, Gwen and Melinda would be the female ass kickers, Toshiko and Owen would nerd out with Flitz and Simmons etc.
I had a question - will there be multiple approaches to the romances? Obviously, an emotional mushy romance should be an option, but will there be opportunities for love/hate relationships, or purely physical ones? I can imagine my female MU getting into some hot and heavy ‘sparring’ with Owen… ^_^;
@Dolphinzgirl Do, it’s a good show, kind of had a slow beginning but it’s picked up as more of the character backgrounds have been exposed. You might want to see Thor: The Dark World before Episode 8 as it somewhat ties into the movie as an aftermath episode. Also excited to hear that Agent Carter will be made into a TV show and that Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist will all be coming to Netflix.
