Thanks @FG
@idonotlikeusernames That makes sense. Alex just hasn’t seen the sort of things the MC has, and I think at the end of the day experience trumps ability.
Damon is a full romance option for both male and female MCs (although I think Damon would be very reluctant to use the word romance).
@Nocturnal_Stillness Sarah and Kat get off to a rough start, but actually end up being pretty tight. I actually think some of the guys can be far more catty.

@Dolphinzgirl I’ve been wondering… who ARE the romance options? Can you romance all of the members of the team? Or would that be telling?
I edited your above post since it’s a new page to include the link. I hope you don’t mind.
I’m really glad to hear that Sarah and Kat end up as friends. I think all too often it’s customary to set the women up to being in competition with each other, or catty as you put it, instead of actually making them friends.
Will we be able to change Damon’s mind about the r word?
I’ve liked all of your characters so far. I will admit I’d also have liked a little more room to breathe on the missions, a little more chance to get to know those I’ve recruited, even if it’s a let’s all hang out and party at the end. Or get shawarma. I think all of that can be added later though, once you’ve actually got the game finished.
@OtherGrimm Initially Kat and Sara were going to be the romencable girls and Damon and Alex were going to be the romanceable guys, but then I decided that wasn’t really fair since Alex dies. So then I decided John should also be a romance option. And then I felt bad for poor Owen, being the only non-romanceable one. So now everybody is romanceable
@FairyGodfeather Thanks for editing the link!
Yeah, I really loathe the whole “women can’t be friends thing” you see in a lot of media, so I very deliberately tried to avoid it here. Kat and Sarah get off to a rocky start because of their very different world views, but they get past it.
Yes, although I don’t think you’ll ever be able to get him to spit out the L word. Damon’s idea of romance is less romantic and more “you’re the only person in the world I don’t consider a tool to be used to advance my own agenda.”
Yeah, I’m still playing around with how I want to handle those scenes. Right now I’m leaning towards just having a scene at the end: give the player a chance to talk with everyone, explore their new base, and have their “we’re officially a team” moment.
I like that they are friends, that there’s going to be no fighting over men for them. I do hate that on shows you generally have the token girl, and if any other woman shows up it’s catfight time.
Yay for everyone being romanceable.
Heh. The lack of the L word is fine. As long as he acts in a way that he tolerates your presence and enjoys being around you, and that there’s a rapport there, I think whatever words are used are just silly things. Actions speak louder than them.
Yeah! I’d like to explore the new base, and do that sort of thing. That sounds better.
Not having the L word is fine, so long as we can get Damon to moan the MC’s name during the appropriate occasion I’m happy.
@idonotlikeusernames That mental image :b
And I agree with @FairyGodfeather, people have different ways to show their love, and if saying the L-word is not one of them, then that’s completely fine.
I’m going to sit Damon down and tease him mercilessly.
“Try to say it, Damon. Just try… I lo… I lo… I love power. See that wasn’t difficult, now was it? Now let’s try the r word. Rrrrrrrrr, roll those rs.”
All of these Damon jokes are killing me, seriously please, stop!
if we continue we’ll need a trollhunterthefourth
Unfortunatly i dont know any damon jokes
@FairyGodfeather I completely agree with pretty much everything you wrote. There will be no catfighting between Kat and Sarah. Damon and John on the other hand …
Damon can come to care for the MC in his own weird Damon-y way, and teasing him is always fun.
@idonotlikeudernames Oh my
I think that’s between Damon and the MC.
@Random That’s completely true. Some people show they love you with flowers and chocolate, others take over the world and make you their queen.
@trollhunterthethird I very much agree. All these jokes are totally making me giggle.
Ha! Damon and John bickering sounds amusing.
Oh! Question. If we don’t pair up with a person, will they find a relationship elsewhere? Or is everyone, apart from us and our chosen one, going to be single forever?
@FairyGodfeather Yeah, Damon and John don’t get along particularly well
The only person on the team the characters will date is the MC. I thought about having them hook up with other people if you didn’t romance them (a la Isabela and Fenris in DAII), but frankly personality-wise I just don’t think there’s anybody on the team Damon, John, Owen, Alex, Sarah, or Kat would want to hook up with. Outside of the team, I imagine those you don’t romance have perfectly normal (for them) love lives after the adventure is over. It’s not something that’s really ever addressed during the present day sequences; however, so it’s ultimately up to the player what they want to think.
Hey, sorry I’m super late to the party here. I’ve played the demo a few times and completely forgot to comment! Anyway, I love the writing and I already adore the characters so far, especially Damon. I really look forward to seeing this game continue to develop, it looks wonderful so far!
I flirted with both Alex and Damon during Alex and Sarah’s recruitment missions. Is there ever gonna be a time where they get into an alpha male me tough guy better than you fight? Would be funny to sit back and watch happen imo.
