Thanks for the update. I have been following the project since you posted it, but finally decided to make an account to discuss the amazing games and story lines with the authors.
I am liking the latest update a lot, especially the ability to negotiate with the thatcher, but I was wondering if there was actually any reason not to attempt to negotiate for better terms. (And, is it actually possible to fail to get better terms?)
I also spotted a couple of really minor typos in the game. The first one was at the sexual preference option for a female tavern keeper. The men option states “I’m not into men” instead of “I’m into men”. The second one is in the newer part of the game. The “Chapter 3b” text is visible in the text immediately after you give the farmer half of the money.

The thatcher terms depend on how much Gossip you have accumulated, so if you don't have enough you won't be able to negotiate. The point is simple to save some gold while raising your classiness, allowing you to buy more upgrades in the future. But there are several ways to save/upgrade.
Maybe if you don’t negotiate you could get a small boost to popularity or something? Or maybe he throws in a freebie of some kind.
Haha maybe :) I'm not an expert in shingle economics but it's funny that my parents are buying a new roof next month, kind of a weird coincidence!
