Starways Saga (WIP) ~370k words (Updated 6/6/2025)

70k Word Marine Path Finale
Well, here it is. Hope you like it! Let me know if you encounter any bugs or typos. It always helps.

The Pirate King has big plans and one of these plans if about to pop off on Karakorum. Can you save the Battleship Teutoburg and it’s crew? Your first taste of real combat, how will you lead your marines to victory?

A few clarifications if people are not used to military terms. You’re second in command of K Company. Companies typically have 100-250 soldiers within them. Companies are made up of platoons that typically have 20-50 soldiers within them. K Company is made up of two platoons. The next level down, the smallest unit size is a squad, typically 5-10 soldiers. And above companies are battalions. But you don’t need to worry about them.

Hope you enjoy! I’ll get started on the next Navy finale. Which due to the poll, will be the Fighter Path. Apologies to deck officer fans that have to wait. But the majority has spoken.

Cheers!

I think this is a CoG Demos issue. I’ve encountered it with other games. Sometimes is gets frozen while loading. You just have to reload the game. Pop a save down on this choice and try again. I think you should be able to get through. Let me know if you can’t.

Haha, that would be a classic military bro move. But life has you going in different directions and it’s a big galaxy. But who knows what the future holds, sometimes long dead flames can be sparked to life again.

That loading bug is still happening even when I refresh with a brand new character. Both routes where u are late or on time

Yes, you’ll be able to customize a color scheme and logo for your ship in the final chapter. Taking on five battleships is punching a bit above our weight, lol.

I just finished my first playthrough and the navy route is genuinely one of my favorites in any if i’ve played so far! I loved all of the characters, including the side ones like Sergeant Wilks :smiling_face_with_tear: There are only a few games that have made me emotional and

the graduation and having to leave my RO (Devinnnnn) genuinely made me really upset, but super accomplished at the same time.

Very excited to see how this progresses and extending my kudos to the author for writing such a well crafted story

Greetings

After finishing both the Merchant and Navy paths, only one word stayed with me — Wow.
Honestly, I don’t even know which path I liked more — each one is beautiful in its own way.

But one thing they have in common: a living, breathing world that’s easy to believe in, and characters that feel undeniably real. These people feel like family. Their troubles become your own. And even if some of them seem like jerks at first, they slowly find their way into your heart. You accept them for who they are. You’ve got their back — and you know they’ve got yours.
(“Yeah Goose, I’m talking about you, shit stain. You goofball — but I love you, man,” I said.)

The dialogue is alive, and the humor is spot-on — genuinely funny, especially in the Navy route. Aboard the Venetian Prince, almost the entire crew instantly feels like family. You share the laughter and sorrow. You catch yourself smiling during dinner scenes, or in conversations with Vega, Vince, and Sally.

Julia and Sally are both wonderful — each in her own way. The moments with them brought real joy… and sadness too.

Now that I’m writing this, I think I can say it clearly: the Navy path speaks to me more. Not just because it was the first one I chose, but because of the people. Brothers and sisters in arms. The military aesthetic. That hated drill Sergeant Wilks. And yeah — those massive ships that could tear a planet apart like it’s paper? Definitely a bonus.

And then there’s Julia. A kind and strong woman who’ll stand by her ideals and her friends to the very end.

Owen, thank you for this incredible experience. I’m eagerly waiting for what’s next.

P.S. “Julie, ten years from now… rest assured, I’ll be there.”

Amazing! Reading things like this makes it all worth it! Realistic characters and quality world building are things I really strive for and focus on, so it’s great to receive some really positive feedback on both accounts. Thanks so much, I look forward to sharing more content with you!

Are the alien siblings supposed to be romanced together? Because I chose to get close to Ares but after that Athena says that my mc looked at her like they wanted to mate her and don’t have the option of saying no. Or is it a bug?

Yes, that’s a bug. Thanks for pointing that out!
