Today is Thanksgiving
This is a day of feasting, of family, of home, warmth, comfort, and plenty.
It is, therefore, today on which we further commemorate the MC’s journey through famine, isolation, hardship, scarcity, and bitter, bitter cold.
Also, their family is still dead.
But there are some things this day may have in common with the MC’s current predicament!
Just as Thanksgiving is infamously an opportunity for disparate personalities to be brought together by obligation, only to argue incessantly, so too can the MC be forced to endure the endless bickering of Callum and Charlotte…should Charlotte be in your party.
Just as Thanksgiving is an opportunity for overbearing family members to smother you with unwanted affection, so too can the MC be suffocated by Calver’s unending enthusiasm…should Calver still be alive.
Or, depending on your choices, perhaps you and Callum have been left by yourselves, nobody left to stand by but each other, as you put your life in the hands of the man that will someday take it away.
This part isn’t really reminiscent of Thanksgiving, unless you have a particularly homicidal family, but for those that do, I hope this dynamic makes you feel represented!
Today’s update is ~39,500 words, which brings the total up to ~532,500 and in turn means we’ve officially crossed the half-million mark.
As mentioned above, it covers Mem III-3, depicting the continuing misadventure of the MC through the snowy mountains of the Leridian Pass, this time exploring the ancient ruins of a long-dead mage which may provide some solution to a pressing food shortage.
For the first time in a while, I have no idea when the next update will be! In order to push the Patreon launch out on Halloween (a date that felt too perfect to pass up), I accelerated my workflow for the past several months, but moving forward, especially given the additional responsibilities said Patreon brings, I will probably slow back down to a more normal update timeline.
I think this is probably not a bad thing, because I’ve gotten a couple people reporting that they started to fall behind with the fast pace of recent updates, especially with real life commitments mounting, so hopefully this will give people a chance to catch up again!
