So far, the language, the worldview, the background setting, and the “feel” I get from this choice of game reminds me of the epic novel Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. As the writer not only attempts to weave a complex relationship between characters, but also setting a journey of the spiritual path along with the main character. As Rand al’Thor went through the process of “madness” through his rejection and denial of his path and his past as Lews Therin Telamon. He eventually completed his quest and spiritual journey by correcting his past mistakes, recognizing that he and the past are in fact one, and by choosing to allow the continuing existence of the Dark One instead of choosing to destroy it permanently. I see the potential of what this game can achieve may be no less than that of the epic work of “Wheel of time.” Now my thought about that yarn, who says the ball of yarn is for kitties only?

So I’ve been quiet for quite some time now (almost a month!) but SotF is still very much on my mind. I’ve started studying full time and it’s taken far more out of me than I ever anticipated, I’ve almost forgotten what free time feels like. I’ve managed to add a few things, but to be honest it’s really not that far removed from the last update. Anyway, term will be ending the 31st and the break will be pretty much the whole of April. I’m hoping to use that time to push out another update and to figure out how to juggle my time better once the new term begins.

Take all the time you need, we can wait.
If you don’t do things on your own pace it’s like peeing while running
Edit. That really loses something in translation.

I really like the story and your writing! Especially the characters in particular and the world-building, I do feel that the characters and the world feel “alive” and that my MC is really a part of a wider world (from the interactions with the villagers / townspeople and the festivals attendees. The way you write makes me feel as if it’s a real world, ie. the world doesn’t revolve around the MC and just react to the MC, but each character has their own lives and the MC is just one part of it.
Was scrolling through the comments and it appears not many people have commented about Aivah. I really like her because she’s pretty different from Ehren. I like it that she’s more practical / thoughtful? Didn’t choose to reciprocate her feelings (because while I like her, it’s too early in the game for me to commit! haha) but I do want to be friends with her. You write great characters which I want to get to know.
Also didn’t see the murder of the MC’s mother coming - that was a shocker for me (and the MC).
I also like the conflict set up between the MC and Ehren (ie. that there’s a possibility we can go different paths and eventually have to face each other).
Please keep writing (when you can, of course)! This is a great story I’d love to see the end of.
