I’ve turned on an optional new feature in Discourse, “Simpler email subject lines.”
Typical emails about replies in a thread will now no longer include the category, and will remove the brackets from the subject line.

- Subject: Choice of Games Forum: Simpler email subject lines
I think I like it, with one exception: PMs no longer have a [PM] in the subject. I’ve posted feedback on the thread; I expect they’ll bring that back.
WDYT? (I can turn it off if we don’t like it, or if [PM] is so urgent that we want to hold off until they bring that back.)
On that topic, I believe I can change the site name in the email subject to be shorter, but I’m not sure how I feel about it. “Choice of Games Forum” is 21 characters, which is a lot. “CoG Forum” would be much shorter, but I’m not sure that would be recognizable to newbies. And it might be important to keep the word “Forum” in there to keep these emails separate from other emails from Choice of Games.
