I’m excited to see what else we can teach Augusta. I hope to make her a kind ruler to her people but also a merciless enemy to other kingdoms. Don’t want her becoming too soft.

I’m not creating another option entirely, only a way for Subterfuge to substitute for another’s requirement and enhance its effects.
As for that, there’s inherently going to be trade-offs involved with how Augusta is taught. While, for example, an Augusta trained in Warfare or Combat might be more prone to aggressive action at certain times, or an Augusta trained in Rhetoric or Scholarship might be more prone to mollifying certain situations, as you can see in Chapter VII for both, compassion and mercilessness don’t go together all that easily in Augusta’s mind. The Prefect is able to suggest different courses of action that Augusta may listen to depending on Trust/Strength/burn status, but Paragon/Tyrant/Puppet remain the trichotomy of base personalities, with variations of personality depending on skills and burn status.

Ah, at least Prefect can suggest different choices for Augusta. I’m more interested in the ending, specifically for Augusta. And how everything will continue with her down the line.
If Augusta and Victoria got married and adopted an heir, would the Galeriae particularly care if the heir was named Augusta Vitallia Hevernica [cognomen]? Or would they push for the heir to be named Victoria Galeria Ursinia [cognomen], and naming the heir otherwise would be one of the concessions we’d have to extract from them at a peace summit?
Maybe another use for subterfuge would be to find where Leta has Tristitia/keep an eye on her.
Leta threatens to potentially use her but if we have high enough subterfuge, be able to get to her first to our side/be able to remove her from the equation if needed?
6/30 Update
Hi all, hope you had a great June! I have gotten more done on Shattered Eagle this month than the last, though much of it was fixes and revisions to the Subterfuge stat and some revisions to Chapter I and Chapter II scenes that I decided could use an update. Those will be uploaded with Chapter VIII when I am finished with it.
As for Chapter VIII, I believe that I’ll have more time to work on it in July, but August is shaping up to be less busy for me than June or July, so I’m hopeful that I can hammer out the chapter by the end of the summer. Hope to provide more updates to you all over that time!
That’s certainly a relevant political consideration, but not one that would be at issue within the chapters of the story. Augusta and Victoria are still quite young after all and it will likely not be for some years before the matter of adoption starts being seriously deliberated.
Subterfuge will be involved in this plot point, but not at the present moment in Chapter VII.

I am so happy.This update gives me an excuse to play this game again it’s one of my absolute favorites. Bonding with little Gus is the best part of the story for me so finding out that if a certain person is “removed” we can be a public happy little family was amazing. There’s so many different choices in the story it’s amazing. Although I don’t think I’ll ever have the heart to go the puppet route I enjoy lovingly molding a little benevolent leader or strong tyrant too much
It isn’t even close to my play as parent who wanted power himself. That’s a total torture. As of now I just play power grab till becoming emperor consort after I’m just a father.
@Azan I forgoted so I wanna ask Lauren can’t marry Agusta in parenting path? If not why then she could marry leta grandson in real Galeria path?
I will add my last run stats. It was OK. I just didn’t understand how some players managed almost max relationship with auxiliary and legion and have high public opinion too. Maybe that’s what I get for my love for Jul. My difficulty was mystical.
I also want to suggest add a stat to show as what supporting watch will change as now I think it’s just cosmetic.
It has less to do with consanguinity (though not nothing, as a pairing between an illegitimate Augusta and Laurentius would be closer than either Marius or Victoria with a legitimate Augusta) and more to do with how foolish an idea it is for the Prefect or their family to even contemplate. There’s no gain from it, since the family’s blood is already on the throne, and it would only invite unhelpful comparison.
I’m a little confused as to what you’re referring to here. Do you mean the choice in Chapter II to potentially invest more resources and authority in the Watch? The ability for the Prefect to save the Watch in Chapter VI? Or a reputation stat of the Watch overall?

The best I managed on the Foederati Path was 95% legionary favor / 92% barbarian favor / 42% public favor when allying Darius and not letting Seyet starve. Female legionary not romancing Julia, neglecting Augusta, sending the legion to deal with the riots, prioritizing rations for the people, killing Aite, doing well in the Battle of Kyro and holding a public funeral, Augusta trained in rhetoric, rejecting the trousers, accepting the religious syncretism and accepting the Euric betrothal. It’s very hard to balance the trifecta of military / barbarian / public since the Foederati and Public are frequently diametrically opposed.
The Foederati Path means you miss out on Ceto’s frequent public opinion boosts (+15 from increasing the grain dole, +8 from visiting Ceto in Chapter 4, +8 from rhetoric Augusta being elected in the arena, +5 from the Civil Guard, +10 from not cracking down on smugglers). The food shortage decision in Chapter 3 is either +10 to barbarian favor and -5 to public favor, or -5 to barbarian favor and +10 to public favor. The trouser proposal is either -10 to public favor and -5 to military favor if you accept, or -8 to barbarian favor if you refuse. The betrothal between Euric and Augusta is either a massive -15 to public favor if you accept, or a massive -15 to barbarian favor plus Dagr stops being your friend plus Antonius is less keen on integration if you refuse.
If you’re a male romancing Julia trying to balance the Foederati and the public, it’s a lot easier to just side with the Senate&People and then compromise. Public favor is the scarcest of the 5 favors, so avoiding Antonius’s land mines with the trousers and Euric and being able to work with Ceto is really good. You’ll have to move heaven and earth to earn the public’s trust otherwise.

Is there an Alexander the great analogue in this setting?
There isn’t. There’s some geographic differences that make that somewhat more difficult in this world that you can observe on the map, such as the Attikan Archipelago being far wider and larger than the Bosporus or Dardanelles in our earth, and the lack of land connection between Seyet and Midyan (though the strait is narrow nonetheless).
The first power to begin truly conquering the Inner Sea, as a result, was Iudia due to their power at sea, combined with the legions and sorcery. Pharia has not been conquered by powers to their west at this point in time, though Empress Ursa came quite close.
Of course, while Alexander’s conquests had influence on Rome, here much of the impetus behind the Iudian view stems from the period of time around the Revelation, the Church of Gaia that emerged from it and its influence on Iudian society. You can learn about this in Chapter V if you listen to the Benediction for Conquest in Celgia by visiting the legionaries.

How you choose to address the Watch in Chapter II has a large effect on the Battle of Kyro. As for the latter, other than the effect on Kyro’s status and Empire stats? The Watch being destroyed will make certain things more difficult in the story.
Additionally, one item on my docket for eventual inclusion is to allow a Watch Prefect who saved them to invite Marcella on the council, which will give that Prefect a loyal ally in the halls of power.

So how would a full ruthless Hadrati Prefect who annexed Hadrat be seen in that country? As the ultimate backstabber? Want to know what would piss off Iblin the Mid and his shitty daughter the most

Well, a Prefect who chooses to have heritage outside Iudia proper isn’t considered from that province (or in Hadat’s case, client state) as their family has been in Iudia for a long time. There’s affinity there, as that’s why that Prefect gets a +1 to Compromise, but this Prefect is about as much Hadati as an Irish American is Irish whose family arrived in the 19th century.
So, they’d likely be seen in a sourer light, but the Prefect’s identity as a Iudian first and foremost would take precedence.
To do that, you’re likely going to want to provoke and kill Aite in Chapter III. Doing that will earn Iblin’s enmity, even if there’s a peace (or not, should you choose to defeat the rebels in battle).
