Shattered Eagle: Fall of an Empire (WIP) [736k Words | Mid-Chapter Content Update 01/27/2026]

Honestly, if you’d saved Tristitia, it would be an interesting POV for Leta to arrange a meeting between her and Victoria. Imagine a more confident Tristitia sharing her honest opinion about her abusive sisters.

I have severe objections to their portrayal of Cleopatra and Egypt in general, and I told them as much. It’s a fun game but uses substantial artistic license – some understandable, some less so.

I prefer the romances with Caeso or Julia over Cleopatra myself. And the Cato romance… just no.

I wish the game sold a little better so they were able to do the Rome-based DLC they hoped to do. The Rome interludes were nice but all too brief. I did enjoy the items you were able to get there – the ancile and the parazonium. I liked that the ancile was based on actual coin depictions, that was actually a research win for them.

Another research win for them was Mithridates’ lion helmet.

Great games. Amusingly I replayed two of them this week. CK3 earlier in the week, and Horizon today.

I’m surprised you’re surprised. It’s extremely similar. I pulled it up again just this week after this game’s new chapter, because you’re able to play a role in a bureaucracy in a very similar way to the role you play as the prefect of state in this game. The rivalries in court and council.

I mean, Iudia itself and the Byzantine Empire…

In fact, I even arranged it so that my son became the emperor with the previous dynasty’s rival candidate as his wife and co-emperor. Does that remind you of anything?

I’d have loved to see something like that as an interlude, yes. Just a little puncturing of the mythos that Iblin has given her, and a little dose of reality. I am really curious how Victoria would respond to that.

“That’s not true… that’s impossible!"

“Ask literally anyone besides your father, they know it to be true.”

Just one further argument that Victoria didn’t meet with Tris like Leta claims. I doubt Tristitia would lie and say that her “dear” sisters actually treated her nicely. It would undermine Vic’s raison d’être while potentially reopening trauma for Tris (who wants no more of Iudian political shenanigans, understandably), which I heavily doubt Leta would desire.

The Goddess is waifu material. My MC wants nothing more than to cuddle with her in a comfy bed, in a comfy room, in a comfy temperature.

Understandable, but she’s got a little too many eyes for my taste. Plus she’s still quite shady so until we clear up any misunderstandings I will stay at a respectable distance from Miss Cacophony and her malware-shaped intentions.

Thing I noticed in the Victoria POV of chapter 6 and 7 she can call the mc different thing depending of his role but in chapter 5 POV she can only call us a butcher, is this normal ?

Thanks, will fix this!

More eyes = more holes.

Were you a consultant on the game, or did you mail in a complaint? And what’s your deal with Cato? I think such a staunch republican would admire the Republic’s greatest defender.

Yeah, I’ve been pretty skeptical of Leta’s claims. She is still a political actor trying to restore her family’s privacy. I am not sure how eager Tris will be to fight us for political power, and don’t buy Leta’s line that she is on board to lead a rebellion. It’s very much against her character, including her life as a washerwoman in Cybele.

I imagine she will find out. Victoria has been isolated in the desert for her whole life with a small circle of loyalists. We can already see her being confused, in the Chapter 7 interlude, that troops aren’t defecting en masse. As she begins her campaign, it will be impossible to hide the fact that her family was deeply unpopular by the end of their rule. The Galeriae, by Scilla’s death, were essentially at the end of their rope. Invidia was literally torn apart by the People of Kyro as soon as there was an option that didn’t share the bloodline.

Am I the only one who names my character based off of real romans? For me I put Titus Labienus, Caesars equal, best friend, and enemy.

I use Lucius Agrippa, which is an homage to Augustus’ loyal deputy. Not an actual historical figure, but close enough.

She did according to the author but not for long since Leta quickly split them up to help keep any possible trackers off their trail. Leta also tells her about the mc saving Tris though I’m guessing that Victoria doesn’t believe her. Author said it will come up more during the negotiations if you have them

I have one Prefect that’s named Julius Nepos in homage to the last Western Roman Emperor to claim the title. And I have a second Prefect named Octavian in honor of the first actual Roman Emperor.

It had less to do with the overall popularity of the dynasty and more that Invidia was calling them to defend against an overwhelming force arrayed against the city, so the Kyrians present acted out of fear and anger at the idea of risking turning their streets into battlegrounds on Invidia’s behalf. Many of the attacking mob did die, after all. Still, before the war Invidia was personally popular in city due to the many games and celebrations she held at the throne’s expense.

There’s a couple times in the text when I mention a food of the legion, pork porridge. (One that the Prefect can partake in during Chapter V and Tyrant Augusta can in Chapter VII) One of my favorite YouTube channels did an episode recently about how to prepare an ancient recipe of it, and I thought I’d share it!

I named my Prefect Consus after the Roman god Consus who is associated with secret conferences. I figured it was fitting since the Prefect advises Julia.

ngl I think I might have misread Consus as the god associated with counsel instead of council but he sits in council with the rest of the court so it’s not completely wrong. Plus Consus is the protector of grain and my Prefect is a tax collector which seems to be based on the frumentarii so it’s fitting.

His original surname was Livius butI changed it to Livanos when I realized his sister’s name would be Livia Livia.

I have no idea if any of this is accurate to Roman naming conventions or fitting with the setting but I almost always give my MC names with the initials KL or CL.

SE High School AU Part 2

Euric is a foreign transfer student who was once the most popular boy in school. Euric’s social status has plummeted greatly after coming to Iudia Academy but this setback hasn’t stopped him. Euric is determined to to reclaim his former glory. He excels in academics and is on his way to becoming the star quarterback. The only thing he needs now is to win the love of the school and it just so happens that Augusta, the most popular girl in school, is single…

Unlike most of the students in Iudia Academy, Laurentius comes from nouveau riche family and wouldn’t have been able to enroll in such a prestigious school if it wasn’t for his uncle, Vice Principal Consus. Despite his comparatively modest background, Laurentius retains his friendly personality and plans on joining the football team. He quickly rose to prominence after he struck up a friendship with the popular but lonely Augusta. If only he could get her to go to prom with him.

Principal Julia is an alumna of Iudia Academy and was quite a popular quarterback back in her student days. Despite her success, she was forced to take the dorky Titus to prom by his aunt, then-Principal Scilla. She had never forgiven Scilla Galeria for such humiliation and conspired with her underclassman Consus to take Scilla down and become the principal of Iudia Academy. She succeeded and is now prepping her daughter, Augusta, to become prom queen and take down the Galerian-principal dynasty of Iudia Academy.

Vice Principal Consus was one of the first boys to enroll into formerly all-girls Iudia Academy when it transitioned to co-ed. As a result, he was bullied relentlessly by the other girls, particularly by Aite and Invidia the daughters of then-Principal Scilla. Despite his accomplishments, his dream of becoming the head cheerleader was crushed. Now the VIce Principal of Iuidia Academy, he is determined to break the glass ceiling in the female-dominated sport once and for all.

As a fellow Prefect also named Lucius Agrippa, I can’t help but admire your loyalty to the ruling dynasty.

Oh, I wasn’t aware of that, thank you for the information. So it’s just Leta combining truth with lies to make a convincing narrative in order to coerce the Prefect into an agreement with her. Seems about right up Leta’s alley.

We’ve got a love triangle, yay. That’s one more classic trope checked. Also

That’s a Julia expression, all right.

Omg I love Tasting History! (the hardtack bit gets me every time)

But is it weird that I kinda want to make it now? I know it’s soldiers’ fare, but it’d be neat to get a historical Roman army meal that hits different like those chili mac MREs. Just gotta dress it up a bit, maybe some anachronistic spices.

Romancing Darius is the biggest mistake our prefect can make. Now our biggest rival has holy fire and is innovating whilst we are stuck praying to the goddess and you know whatever happens, she will congratulate the winning side.
