Empire Status: Stability (15) Resources (55) Power (57)
Augusta Status: Unburnt Paragon (Combat) (Warfare)
Also, am I missing something with Leta? She hasn’t shown up to try and negotiate peace on either run, is that due to Titus being poisoned or something else?
Also, Leta thanking and telling us how Tristitia got the chance for a peaceful life but then she threatens us with Tris enacting some might vengeance upon us if we try to off Victoria. Well that wouldn’t be very peaceful for her, now would it Leta? I hope do think she’s bluffing. She’s quite the weasel after all.
Here are the two ways that this meeting can happen:
Leta’s Peace Offer
You need to have achieved reluctant_rival (and/or reluctant_ceto if you sided with the foederati) by Chapter V. This requires at least 40 approval with that faction.
You need to have kept one of Titus and/or Tristitia alive.
Leta’s Alliance Offer
You only need to have kept both Titus and Tristitia alive. Other faction approval does not matter here.
I can’t add blur spoilers for some reason but anyways.
If you kill Julia and then talk to the goddess, she claims that Julia was a problem and that she was glad that we killed her, but that’s most likely a lie to get us to work with her.
This is because killing Julia lowers the goddess trust by -10 but not assasinating Julia gets the goddess to trust you more by increasing trust to +5.
@Azan Correct me if I’m wrong, but it appears the reluctant opposition/ceto only harden their stance if you outright refuse Leta, meaning you can potentially still attempt negotiations with them later even without honoring Leta’s terms.
No, that won’t be part of the story. It’s mentioned to show that the resolve isn’t 100% of what it would otherwise be, but there won’t be an alternate way to get to negotiations as I said earlier.
Well, I finished quicker that I imagined that I would! But I guess I had been waiting for this chapter for quite a while, eager to see what Augusta would do when left entirely to her own devices. It was really interesting playing this chapter, choosing “Augusta’s got this” at every possible option and then being “attagirl” afterwards.
*Although I’m not fully sure I agree with all her choices… but she’s young, she’ll grow into it. She’s already a bit cannier than expected.
And of course, once again there are entire plot elements that I appear to have completely missed. Such as… the below.
Welp, I had no idea this was even possible! Clearly I did not qualify for either of these outcomes.
Now I really have to think hard because…
Well – I really want that Augusta/Victoria alliance, but this seems complicated by the fact that I had to let Titus shuffle off the mortal coil to become emperor consort and to reveal Augusta’s parentage to her. Argh! How do I pull it off, I wonder… “alliance” is the marriage alliance option, right? I haven’t looked into any of this yet.
Oh, and finally – my endgame stats:
Warfare: 1
Rhetoric: 10
Scholarship: 2
Economics: 4
Subterfuge: 1
Chapter I Bonus Stat: No.
Chapter II Bonus Stat: No.
Victory Clock (Battle for the Spire): -1 (Success at <= 0)
Victory Clock (Battle for Kyro): -6 (Success at <= 0)
Arcanii Battle Strength: 55
Kyro Status: 2 (0 = Pyrrhic Victory; 1-2 = Incomplete Victory; 3 = Complete Victory)
Empire Status: Stability (59) Resources (51) Power (42)
Augusta Status: Unburnt Paragon (Rhetoric) (Economics)
So many betrothal requests. Like goddamn. I just want to tell them all that I will not force Augusta into an arranged marriage. She will choose whoever she wants when she wants to marry damn it!
Guess Titus and Prefect will just have to kill them all. At least, JuliaGPT will be proud of us I guess.
I did somewhat wonder if I was being a complete lunatic constantly picking rhetoric for every single stat boost opportunity (except for one, which was econ). I think the highest rhetoric check I ever saw was Rhetoric 5, so I was kind of just stacking rhetoric for RP and the vibes which might not be optimal gameplay…. probably should’ve put some warfare or something in there.
On the bright side, I did pop an achievement when hitting Rhetoric 10!
One is Leta cousin (it’s part of the peace or alliance offer), one is Victoria (if you got the peace offer you can bring it up as an option), one is a family member (you need to have talk to your family), one is the son of Dagr (you need to have sided with the foederati)
Yeah I forgot about that since my main mc does not romance Julia
Thanks! Well, that explains why I didn’t get a single one of those I think.
I didn’t have reluctant_rival and Titus was dead, so no offers from Leta. Presumably can’t have a family member when I’ve fathered Augusta (I mean, they’d be first cousins… no.) And I sided with the Senate and People, so no son of Dagr.
As they said. Honestly, after seeing the “dagr loyalty false” in the code, I might just not choose to pick them in future runs if it will sabotage our efforts.
I mean, the kid seems nice and gets along well with Augusta too so I think that it would end up well, but really, my Prefect doesn’t see it as his decision and I wish there was an option to say that at least in that case. Like, “Kid, I am not the one you should say this to. Talk to Augusta if you want to marry her.”Leta though? Oh hell the fuck no!
I mean, in my heart of hearts I’d like Augusta to choose. That’s how I structured the entirety of my behavior in Chapter VII, after all. I’ve raised her well but at a certain point she’s going to have to make her own decisions. On the other hand, she’s still a kid.
Also it’s just funny that this is the third chapter in a row I’d messed up what I wanted, and consequently I’ve had to replay it to make better choices.
In Chapter V, I finally got what I wanted: Augusta to know I was her father, but I got monkey pawed because it was Titus who revealed it in anger. So I had to replay all that to do it properly, and to get the imperial marriage instead of Augusta getting forced into a hated betrothal.
In Chapter VI, all I wanted was for Augusta to be safe and I was stressed about that even before the chapter came out — and I got what I wanted, sort of: Augusta was safe, but very crispy. So naturally I couldn’t let THAT outcome stand.
Finally, in Chapter VII, I was really excited to see Augusta make her own choices and become the republican principissa I had hoped for, and really wanted my Augusta/Victoria ship to come to fruition. Only for Augusta to choose excessively humble / pleb appearances rather than a more senatorial one, and to not even get the option to betrothe Augusta and Victoria.
