The mystery surrounding Kyros is pretty much the defining feature of the character. Half the fun is just guessing what the guy/gal/?’s deal is.
Also apparently there were supposed to be two more acts but got scrapped. A sad moment for CRPG enjoyers.

I played tyranny, the villain game, and did the good guy path. I don’t like tyrants. ![]()
but I did like how they added a “loyalist” version of the good guy path, too.
11/29 Update
Hi all, I’ve been able to work at Chapter VII further this month, but unfortunately not to the degree that I had hoped for. Luckily, I’m anticipating having a lot of time to hammer out the chapter in December, and I hope to have many more progress updates for you all during the final month of 2025. Hope you all had a lovely thanksgiving!
Just finished reading the story, an extremely well written story and whilst usually not my cup of tea I found myself heavily invested in the story and world building.
The writing is extremely high level, the choices are complex and interesting and the story in of itself alongside the flashbacks give a very Game of Thrones vibe. I love it.
I will admit its not a character heavy story sadly nor is it action or drama packed, its a slow burn political story which is quite refreshing to say the least.
Aside from the Empress the other 4 characters are not that important nor do you spend a lot of time with them which I found odd, they kind of played a minor role.
That being said I’m hoping for more.
you can get to know them quite a lot but you must make delibret choices for that and if you whant to get full story out you must conentrate on one of them.
all of them are also romance options.
Darius path for example has significant revelations and can change a lot of thing.
Same will be true with all the others. all of them whant difrent things in the end and how empire will look once war is over will probably largly depend on which one of them you work with.
and they are probably going to gain even more prominece with actions from last chapter
The romance in this game is quite lacking if you ask me. The 4 characters don’t show up a lot too. From what I’ve seen is that Julia, her Daughter and Victoria are the central characters to the story, the rest are just optional side characers.
one more thing that i would like to say about game balance is that i think it would be good if we got some buffs from senate and cato when you are not on there path. Curently its works like that you only get help for empire stats from one or another i would think that whille these makes sense from balance standpoint it would also be good if other side also gave minum buff in future chapters.
like senate giving +2 recources or cato +2 stability. we all still are on same side and we have yet to activly start undermining them so them suporting empire makes sense. and like even if they dont like me they should at least be trying to bribe empres. them not helpin dose not look good on there dosier
Have found bionic eye and transplanted it to help somone see what world really looks like? did you make alliance with parthia and ended centurys long conflict?have you conspired with people to overthrow senate and give power to the people whille also endinig gender discrimination?
these are some of interesting things you can get up to ![]()
Well, it’s not a very romantic game. ¯\_(ツ)__/¯
TBH, after novelty sheen wore off I’m getting a bit irritated about the notion of mandatory romances everywhere, even when they either don’t belong or don’t complement the story in any significant way. This game is fine as it is.
then go ask the author why implement it in the first place?
I’m simply critiquing what is there.
If there was a story and there was action elements but the action was very brief and mediocre like some of the wips I’ve read then I’m gonna say its subpar, thats it.
Some movies have the spy thriller genre but they botch it with nonstop comedy or action as well.
If there is an element of a genre that is part of the story then it should be rated.
Romance is a part of this story so of course I’m going to rate the quality of it. Simple
Because authors are wary that much less people will read their stuff if they don’t include the blighted thing? At least it’s the impression I seem to be getting lately. ![]()
Well feel free to ask the author, Im simply giving my input on a genre element that is a part of the story
The romance/friendship between the MC and Empress is strong, so is the emotional bonds and struggles they share. Meanwhile with the other 4 its minimal. That’s what I’ve seen so far.
i personaly like whats there for Cato and empress, cant say anything about other characters becouse i have not done there routes.
I’ve addressed feedback like this in the past, so to restate my thoughts in response, there’s one scene where you can visit each of the other major characters each chapter, except for Chapter V, along with other appearances throughout other scenes. Pursuing one of their romance paths also yields expanded scenes and interactions, as does the fake/true romance variants and dynamics such as the interpersonal and class conflict between Consentia and Ceto, the Legate’s struggle for identity reflected in his people, and Darius’ quest for knowledge and the unraveling of mysteries should the MC commit to his alliance.
As I said before, I’ll keep this feedback in mind, but there isn’t room for more in-depth interactions per chapter without slowing the pace of the story down significantly. Not only do I have an outline to follow, but I also want to prioritize the Prefect’s story, as they are the main character. However, in this next chapter, you’ll have another larger scene corresponding to your alliance and dedicated to your allied character(s), and of course appearances in other scenes throughout the chapter.
To explain my rationale, the themes of each romance directly correspond to two of my overarching themes in Shattered Eagle. These being (1) the conflict between the personal and the political and (2) the nature of power. The presence of romance in Shattered Eagle isn’t to pull in readers, but to explore the ways in which interpersonal relationships can be affected by transactionality and power dynamics. Although these may not be typical themes for relationship routes in this medium, I find the subject interesting, and that’s why I write it.
