Aww, thank you <3 I know Tumblr is a good place to gather readers (probably the best place for it!), but that burn out is dangerous, I don’t think I have enough self-control to handle it. I’m sorry it happened to you
How did you handle it?
Yeah I’ve found that it can gain you a lot of interest!!
Well I started to resent my project for a while. I had also gotten some very weird and uncomfortable asks, so I prohibited asks altogether for a while, then made it so no anonymous asks could be sent and only ppl who followed me could ask. I feel like that was a really good decision. I still get asks trickling in and I appreciate them because they’re the “good” kind aka very respectful and encouraging, though I’ve been rarely responding anymore because it’s taxing
Aw, sorry that happened. But good on you for handling it gracefully <3
Yeah, it’s hard to decide where to draw lines in the IF space. I like the community here very much (in my experience my readers are saints for being so patient with my flailing about
, and I love the SoS Discord, they are the best) but it can go wrong fast.
I don’t know that I was being graceful, I think I was rather pissy at times. But thanks ![]()
I hope it doesn’t go wrong for you, you’re clearly a good writer and a nice person doing your best
you deserve a supportive reader base
It sounds graceful to me - I don’t think I’d react by coolly withdrawing and setting boundaries, but I get what you mean.
Thank you <3 You deserve the same, and I’m glad Press Play is doing so well.
I’m onto another day of play-testing - Chapter 3 should be out later today!
I really can’t wait for the update. I’ve been listening to Jane Austen dramatizations to get into the right mindset and they remind me so much of your IF. Also I did another replay of SoS and made an MC as talentless and unappealing as possible, and it was delightful. She asked people whether squirrels get lonely. I laughed so hard

Update: Chapter Three is on Patreon! At last!
It’s 87 000 words, which brings the story total to around 270 000 words.
I’ll be honest, I’m just pleased that I managed to wrestle the code into somewhat playable form - it gave me a very difficult time today (and quicktest was no help, according to quicktest everything was fine - it really wasn’t, there were entire 5000 word scenes missing
.) There are still a lot of small issues, flavour text not showing and so on, but I’ve been promising this forever so it’s there in all its imperfect glory (which I will work on this week.) I hope you all enjoy it.
And I’ll update the public version with the right files too - maybe I’ll throw out a small preview of Chapter Three? If the preview behaves anyway - I am not in the mood to struggle with more code =P
I’m sorry to report that the public release has an infinite load after chapter 2 and the preview for chapter 3 does not load. Just in case it matters, I was playing the ex-fiancee route.
Oh gosh, I’m so sorry. I didn’t test the public release (well I quick tested it but didn’t play through) because I figured it’s the same as the Patreon, just with Chapter 3 cut much much shorter
Apparently not.
I am supposed to be asleep right now and I’m also visiting my mom tomorrow morning, but I’ll fix it when I get back tomorrow afternoon. Sorry you had to play through everything just for an error ![]()
I’ll put a warning on COG.
Edit: oh, you know what, I know what’s wrong. I didn’t upload the new startup file with the preview - changed it, but didn’t upload. Such a small thing. Let me fix it quickly otherwise I’m just going to worry.
No worries and no rush! Errors are expected with all games. Get some sleep ![]()
It should be fixed now. But I will entirely understand if you’d rather wait it out until I’ve play tested it tomorrow
Sorry again! Now I’m really going to sleep.
It seems to be working <3
Hello! I wondering when the public release of the new chapter?
It’ll be in two weeks! Didn’t want to make you all wait too long.
Hello, I wanted to say that I really love the game so far. This might be an unimportant piece of information, but it is perhaps the first story set in the Regency era that I have watched in nearly ten years. What’s funny is that the first novel I ever read in my life was Pride and Prejudice; I read it when I was about 12 years old, I think. I wasn’t a fan of novels at all but I was forced to do so when we spent the summer with my grandmother in the countryside. If I hadn’t, I would have died of boredom. Luckily, my sister had brought a collection of books, all of which I read But what stuck in my mind the most were Pride and Prejudice and Dracula (Dracula caused me a great deal of fear, especially when going to the bathroom in the middle of the night) If I keep going like this I’ll end up telling my life story In short, I wanted to say that my passion for the Regency era has awakened from a deep sleep after playing the game I’m excited for Chapter Three, and I will subscribe to your Patreon as soon as I get the chance. (I’m a fan of Lancelot Lynden and The Christian von Kesslerand I’m still torn about which route I’ll try first.)
I apologize for the message being so long; perhaps I got a bit too excited Also, English is not my native language, so it may contain many mistakes![]()
Thank you, I appreciate it. There’s just something about the Regency era, isn’t there? (Also, you just made me realize that I’ve never read Dracula! I’m not a big lover of vampires but I probably should!)
I hope you’ll enjoy Chapter Three, it’ll be here soon. ![]()
Are the changes to chapters one and two public?
Not all of them - there are still small errors (and one persistent issue where the politics route scene leaps to the marriage route scene in chapter one.) None of it changes the story or adds new scenes; it’s just a slow clean up of mistakes and some new sentences.
(I mentioned it, but the changes were not as drastically necessary as I thought in my initial panic, I thought people were playing a very old version of the first two chapters; this turned out not to be true.)
I’d recommend waiting for the public release of Chapter 3 before reading again, I don’t think the changes are worth another read at this point.
