Congratz on the chapter thing this is one of the few wips im following since i usually hate having to wait for updates but this one was too good. Oh and yes if you have experience with dnd its better but i personally didnt and had SO MUCH trouble learning the mechanics and something else that bothered me was how easily you could walk into a side area that was WAY overleveled for you but aside from that its great i should really go and finish my demon playthrough. Btw without spoiling if your into red flags camellia may grow on you but i think your more of a wenduag person lol nothing tops morrigan from dragon age for me tho

Never found myself as someone who enjoys playing an impulsive and hateful mc but man this is one of the few exception esp the canteen brawl lit made me tear up from laughing. I love it, i love this, 10 out of 10 would cause suffering for everyone again

Sorry if this is an obvious question, and Iā€™m quite slow, but if I choose to have an androgynous body at the beginning of the game, does that mean that my MC doesnā€™t have genitals? I saw somewhere on this forum that the MC has the ability to change his body however he wants, this applies to an androgynous MC too, right?

If I remember correctly each time after visiting the possible dragon sighting the story reach some sort of a checkpoint, MC can rest and have change if they wanted.

I never use it though I only somewhat remember seeing the option, I never change my MC from the beginning.

Itā€™s not a topic Iā€™m terribly interested in, to be perfectly honest. Headcanon it however you want.

More or less. There are currently three points in the story where the MC can get a sex change, plus one more to be added. And you can change from anything to anything else, so your initial choice doesnā€™t really matter that much.

I think I got halfway through the story and I must say- this WIP is phenomenal. I love the originality. The world seems rich and I appreciate that youā€™re so knowledgeable about physics and our solar system. I learned quite a lot reading your game. I also like the sociological and philosophical topics you bring up. Itā€™s not forced; on the contrary, it makes the game more interesting. I guess you could say most books and games touch on such topics to an extent, but it strikes me as especially well managed and pronounced here.

But thatā€™s rather minor, compared to other things that make or break an IF. And I believe you nailed the really important ones as well. The characters, the plot and the freedom of choice. The choices are never too far apart. The characters are deep. So far I only feel like I really know Hellhound and Sheila, and I love what you are doing with those two. And while there seem to be many serious and rather dark layers to the characters as well as the world itself which I love (such as Sheila and here reason for hating organics + the way she even looks at the organic members of the groupā€¦ that makes me want to get rid of her tbh :smiling_face_with_tear: or what happened to Lisaā€¦ Itā€™s grown up stuff and well written) Despite all this you still manage to make the game geuninely funny, a lot of times actually. So thatā€™s another great thing.

And lastly, I think you did a good job allowing us to really play the MC we want. My MC nearly killed his mistress but couldnā€™t do it. Then he joined the rebels, finally determined to take vengeance. Now, while still rather cold or even callous, he finds not all organics are enemies, and some can even be friends (or more), leading to sort of a ā€œredemptionā€ arc. Seeing all the choices I could have made, as well as the flavour text, it seems the player has great agency in shaping the MC.

I know this post probably wonā€™t be very helpful, but I couldnā€™t just leave a like. Itā€™s great to see a sci-fi story on here, and one that is so well written too. I hope that more people find their way to this WIP. Good luck!

Iā€™m a bit further into the game now andā€¦ I donā€™t think that character will ever grow on me. Iā€™m all for red flags, but a murder rapist who gets off from killing puppies is a bit much. Iā€™ll stick with the funny cat-spider thing who hisses at everyone to kneel before me, that seems far more fun.

Not sure if I earned that praise. My world was mostly built by stealing from lots of other settings, it doesnā€™t take much effort to arrange these different elements in a somewhat unique way. Itā€™s not very big on physics either, every law of nature gets broken by some magical technology or other, I just apply some understanding of what these laws actually are.

Though I do love writing about the Solar System. I just canā€™t get over how soft sci-fi taught us to basically ignore all this unimaginably vast expanse in favor of some ā€œhyperspaceā€ or other, all so that space explorers can proceed to ignore other star systems too until they find a perfect little earth-like planet by sheer chance. If not for that spite, Iā€™d probably be writing fantasy right now, Sun knows itā€™s more popular around here.

Oh, such comments are very much helpful. Writing huge chapters can be a slog (and certainly has been over the last few days) so some appreciation goes a long way. And while I welcome constructive critcism too, knowing what worked is arguably as important as knowing what didnā€™t work. So thanks.

I played the demo some time ago, I just remembered something I really enjoyed right now and I have to write it here. When you behave how you think a machine would behave, people comment on it and the other androids make fun of you. This is an awesome small feature, that had a big impact on the world feeling more interesting and motivates me to play it again with different attitudes.

Thatā€™s another case of me being driven by spite. Iā€™m tired of stories where AIs treat simple concepts such as emotion like some incomprehensible superpower only humans have. At their absolute most sympathetic, robot characters will live in constant yearning for the human experience, hoping to one day become like their angelic creators. An AI can literally sacrifice themselves for the greater good, and all theyā€™ll get is a reluctant acknowledgment that they ā€œshowed humanityā€ and might not be that much worse than us.

Screw that. Being a robot >>> being a hooman. I shall welcome my synthetic overlords when they show up, Blood For The Syndicate.

@Omeg Hi, I just wanted to say that your WIP is fantastic and that Iā€™ve replayed it more times than is mentally healthy. I love how the Veteran can have many different personalities and especially the absurd choices we can make.

That said, I played one where my Veteran was an androgynous non-binary person and in some chapter after the conversation with Damon and his sister (sorry, I can never remember her name) outside the station, Lisa confessed to my Veteran. is this on purpose or a bug? Since the description says sheā€™s straight, I figured an androgynous, non-binary Veteran wouldnā€™t interest her.

Sorry if there are any mistakes, English isnā€™t my first language and Iā€™m using a translator.

Lisa isā€¦ kinda thirsty. An androgynous MC is in the ā€œclose enoughā€ category as far as sheā€™s concerned. Playing one will just make it a little harder to reach a relationship level required to romance her.

And you still got through the story? Thatā€™s quite a feat.

Speaking of the Lisa romance, I have to applaud you for the writing there. I wasnā€™t actually planning on romancing her at first, but over time, the relationship with her ended up developing naturally. By the time I reached the confession scene, it felt like it made sense for my Veteran to reciprocate. Well done.

Consequence Update. The largest chapter to date has just been uploaded. Dealing with the aftermath of the final battle against Crystal, it covers so many things that I wonā€™t bother listing them all. Just know there are lots of choices, outcomes, conversations, lightning strikes and potential romance scenes. Stuff happens.

Iā€™m tired. Iā€™ll try to upload another chapter for the gameā€™s first anniversary next month, but for now Iā€™ll just take a break. Maybe Iā€™ll finally stab Camellia to death or something.

A small nitpick, but this feels really weird when right before it you can adress killing Crystal and Hadaly forgives you and then you have sex, lol. Youā€™d think sheā€™d be pretty stoked to see us after that.

I actually wrote some code specifically to prevent this kind of weirdness, and it works for every other RO. I just forgot to put a *set command in Hadalyā€™s romance scene. I guess itā€™s hard to focus on the code when writing a scene where beating your girlfriend with a power cable as foreplay is one of available options.

Having read it and the opposite version of that sceneā€¦Yeah. And having read what you wrote about Wenduag at the start of the month on top of this scene it almost convinced me to go through the game again in spite of my sleep depravation just to get to the new Sheila sceneā€¦Something to do tomorrow, I guess

What ā€œnew Sheila sceneā€ are we talking about? I donā€™t remember adding much spider-related content outside of this chapter, and the old Sheila romance scene is pretty tame compared to stuff I just wrote.

So you know, donā€™t end up disappointing yourself if youā€™re looking for something new in older chapters. And do get some sleep, lest you end up like me.

I guess I sort of assumed there was a new scene for every RO because of the new word count and how you mentioned code to prevent the thing I brought up above being in place for other RO scenes. Oops, lol.

Thereā€™s a romance sequence for every one of the original ROs. Thereā€™s no equivalent scene for Sheila, because you can already bang her earlier and because the final third of the chapter is all Sheila interactions anyway. Romancing her does impact those dialogues, but probably not in the way youā€™re hoping for.

Anyway, hereā€™s some spider-cat art I found, because apparently weā€™re all into anthropods here.
