I don’t want the mc to help people without payment because then the mc can’t ruin the family business. :smiling_imp: Since the mc is supposed to lose 20 million dollars a year, the dad’s detective agency legacy must be using Salt City Detective Agency in some sort of money laundering capacity. I want the mc to prove the family wrong through being a good detective, while simultaneously blowing up the existing family business. Yes, I’m spiteful like that. :smiling_imp:

I know, right? Make enough money to salvage the agency when the rest go belly up. :hear_no_evil:

‘Oops. Did I do that? Sowwy. (Not!:smirk:)’

I don’t think my mc would even apologize. I play the mc more along the lines of saying something like:

“Well, you shouldn’t have underestimated me.” (Directed to the family after family business is ruined, of course.)

Oh, believe you me, neither would mine, not so anyone would believe it - she’s just so sassy and sarcastic at the end of the heart-warming family gathering towards her dear mother and brother. Comms breaking up and all, ack, modern tech is so unreliable… :smirk:

Except for Codsworth. Er… Alfred Pennyworth? Luddite?

Poor Ludlow. I actually had my mc remember his name every time. :joy:

I usually do that too, but I play (at least) two rather different characters - the sassy one would get anyone’s name wrong, more likely than not fully intentional.

The other is rather no-nonsense and practical, always polite even to DIP-brood mother and DIP-brood sibling. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve played it through once so far, and the first time I play through, I make choices exactly as I would if I were the mc.

Am I the only one that tried to get along with the family? My MC would never admit it (cause she’s a snarky asshole too) but she’s really lonely. At the beginning at least it seemed like the MCs don’t really have friends or other family so as terrible and dysfunctional as her family is, it’s still family.

So at the beginning she’s planning to do exactly as her brother told her. And then as time goes by she’s gonna untie herself from them and burn the whole legacy to the ground :japanese_goblin:

I actually imagine Ludlow as Codsworth from fallout 4. I even glossed over his description cause I really want a robot butler with a british accent that can spit fire from one of his arms to make my breakfast xD

No, one of my characters certainly does her part to make amends, even if the other two apparently could not care less. It hurts her, but she is stoic. Her heart is not on her sleeve, really, but rather buried deep in the dark where, supposedly, it is safe from being broken. Maybe that is why she used to drink… Question is, who broke her heart to such extent? Oh, the characterisation. :grinning:

I know, right? I so pictured Codsworth, subsequently I referred to him that way first, thinking I was to name him.

Yeah, a broken heart seems to be at the core of this character. I’m really curious to get more glimpses into their past. I feel like a dark dysfunctional family doesn’t totally explain how they ended up where they did.

My MC doesn’t wear her heart on her sleeve either but instead of hiding it behind a wall of indifference she hides behind sarcasm and false confidence. I think that’s definitely why she started drinking - the smoking was because she thought it made her look cool

Oh, I called him Codsworth every time I got the chance. Too bad the MC has apparently learned his name, I was having too much fun lol.

This is one good game! I wasn’t really expecting much when I was browsing on dashingdon, but consider me pleasantly surprised.

Will give feedback if I have any, but so far reading is enjoyable. Love the humor too.

Same. I thought the purpose of the choices was to name Codsworth.

Hey was just replaying the demo and was wondering if you had any ideas on whether or not you could become a sort of Pinkerton Agency with agents handling your cases while you reap the rewards or a crime boss who group masquerades as a detective agency?

Hey @MindightWatcher I can see you are one of the latest members of the forum. Congratulations!!
Yeah, this WIP had real potential, but given the fact that the author didn’t visit the forum even once in this year, I fear that it’s gonna join the painfully long list of abandoned WIPs. That said, I would just like to inform you that you are not supposed to comment on a topic that is abandoned for a long time. So, I would request the @moderators to please close this thread. @clarge can always open it by contacting @moderators if he so wants in future.
