Rise to Power (Working Title) (Chapter 1 WIP, 20% Done!)

Like I said, with a starting point the 90’s, I think a very well played Green party that manages to fill the void in the left of the US political spectrum might stand a chance, certainly at the state level, in some states, a breakthrough should be possible. Our characters would just have to resist the easy option of simply joining the left wing of the Dems, once it looks like they might be a political success.

What you have untill now is really great.
Even though it’s just the prologue it really leaves a good impression and leaves me wanting to come back for more.
Your writing style is really funny and captivating, i caught myself chucling more than once .
Keep up the good work and i will send all my prayers for good luck towards you

:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: You got me there :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I guess that I sounded like the typical European when portraying Americans. Sorry for that  . I quite like the image that Hollywood movies give of Europeans: a bunch of free-loving heathen commies. I guess that those exaggerated but still very comical images are inevitable.

But I’m just wasting your time with all this stuff. Your plans for the game seem rather on point, I haven’t being this expectant and optimistic for a game in a rather long time.

Choice of Rebels has been kicked out of my hype list due to the hiatus. This’ll make a good replacement.

Man, I hope you guys are going to like what I’m working on right now.

I won’t spoil too much, but let’s just say that you have the option, when raising donations, to… Divert some of the funds into a more personal direction. There’s the possibility of being discovered, and this results in a rather large scene with lots of options to try to cover it up.

Your very first political scandal! How will you handle it?

If you play as a noble politician, will our opponents try to fake evidence to slander us? Could we do the same?

Opponents will try to construct false evidence to slander you, us, and if you’re less scrupulous, you can do the same.

This won’t happen until higher-level campaigns, of course, so for now, just at the local level, you only deal with genuine scandals.

prologue line 505: Couldn’t parse the line after *selectable_if: not (schooljob)#I got a job, or spent extra time at the job I already had.

Ah, dang it. I’ve been doing some edits on the prologue file tonight, and I guess it raised some more crashes.

I’ll try to have it fixed within a couple of hours. Sorry, guys!

EDIT:

Well, that was embarrassing! I called the schooljob/etc. variables to determine if you had done those activities before, but never actually declared or set them!

Should be fixed now. Apologies again!

Please please please keep up the hard work!! I played through again and it was wonderful… I can’t wait for more.

Mkay, so I should be done with the main campaign portion of the local assembly chapter by the end of the day (Hopefully) so I’ll go ahead and release that once it’s all done.

I would really, really like it if you fine folks could do some balance testing for me once it’s out - Quicktest assures me it won’t crash at any point, but only manual playing will actually tell me if the decisions I’ve implemented are actually balanced or not. Primarily, I want to make sure that your poll numbers get to at least 50% through regular campaigning, but not above like, 80% or anything. Additionally, I want to make sure that your fame doesn’t get above, say, 60 or 80% through regular campaigning, as well.

I appreciate anybody who puts in the effort for this!

I’m really grateful at the way you are working really hard to make this game for us, thank you for that

Also, the game is great, and i would love if you’d place a dictatorship option (If you can, of course). Thanks again for the game

Also I noticed you got rid of the option to pick an extracurricular activity twice. :frowning:

If you are from a low class and have to go to work cause private university, you can only have one extra ciricul

Yeah, that’s intended. The amount of work you have to put in to pay for your university expenses is inversely proportional to the amount of time you have for extra-curricular activities. Being lower class and having to work above full time leaves you only time for one extra-curricular activity.

While this may seem wholly negative at the current moment, I won’t say exactly how, but in the future what sort of economic background you come from will have both positive and negative effects.

Let’s just say that everybody loves a rags-to-riches story, and people are a bit tired of upper-class kids achieving high political office.

In response to some earlier comments on Sanders and socialism, etc. Would some actions, if you did decide for the activist approach, allow you to form protest or join some form of marches, which would probably effect your heat, etc.
Also, if the heat went up too high (not necessarily from previous option), if you indeed did make it to presidency, would there be possibility for impeachment?

(sorry if something I asked is already covered)
