Yeah, I know about how it usually works in myths, but considering the MC doesn’t seem to be so old and has at least two tails, I’d assume it’s different than regular myths. Unless he’s really that old haha!
Yeah - I’m actually one of the gamemasters for a circle or roleplayers, and in one of my games I have a kitsune player who had that happen to him - worst mission ever!

I will take note of your suggestion.
Regarding the whole tails thing: by the lore that I’ve come up with for this book, Kitsunes vary a lot from the myths most of us are used to. They get their second tail basically during puberty, so like at the ages of 12 to 16 (of course those numbers aren’t set in stone so an earlier or later tail growth is always a possibility, just more of a nuisance). As for the later tails, they tend to grow by intervals so a third tail usually appears during a Kitsune’s 30s and so on. Basically, the tails indicate their age. However, the ninth tail takes a little longer because that can grow even if the Kitsune is 100-years old or even later.
All in all, Kitsunes live for a relatively long time compared to most other races.

STATUS REPORT
Hello everyone!
Sadly, this is not an update announcement, but more about what’s going on and how things are going. I’m going to say this out now rather than later, that progress has been slow so far. Just a few minutes ago, I finished writing the next part to Chapter 2 for hypoesthetic/hyposmic people. Just need to get some code done and check the grammar before I can go on to writing the other patches. Despite how much time has passed since the last update, one would expect the next one to be big, but it’s not. It is going to make 2/3 of Chapter 2.
Also, no art just yet. I’ve been struggling a little with that. Akumu’s piece is done, just need to get Akashi down as well.
But on a different and happier note: I finished my school project that this was a part of. Got that sweet A. With that, I would like to thank everyone who took the time to provide feedback. Your contribution was much appreciated and without it, I wouldn’t have gotten such a high score.
I don’t have an estimated date for when the next update will come out. Hopefully, it won’t take too long but it depends on many factors. I will also be taking more time with playtesting, so people don’t have to have the misfortune of scenes not adding up or code being a douche. Despite being stuck at home, I can’t get as much stuff done as I would like because school takes up nearly 70% of my days. But I will keep you all posted when we’re getting close.
Stay safe and call a loved one to stay in touch!

Really glad to hear your project was well received, and that it got you an A, too! I had been hoping to hear the outcome of that someday.
Real life takes precedent, and we all understand the importance of keeping up with your real-world, offline priorities. Quality over quantity as they say, and taking your time is exactly that. Until the next progress report, have a good rest of your day.

Played through a couple of times the only error I could find was this

Thank you for the catch! There are currently some grammatical errors that I’m aware of and fixing as I go, but those will be evident in future updates.
This looks interesting so far! I really appreciate the option of choosing our own pronouns after the non-binary option ;u;
Hopefully I am not overstepping, but do you mind if I give a little feedback about X’s name? As a character, they definitely caught my interest

I do not mind at all! I’m all for feedback be it about the story or just the characters.
Chinese name works a little differently; their format is (surname)(given name, which can either be one or two characters). For instance, 李美玲 (Li Meiling) would mean that Li (李) is the surname and Meiling (美玲) is the given name. And so, the first impression Xin Meiren and Xiang Meiren gives is that Xin and Xiang are the surnames and that Meiren is the given name.
However, a surname is gender-neutral. So male!X being Xin Meiren and female!X being Xiang Meiren is a little strange.
On the other hand, if Meiren is the surname (and so it would be Meiren Xin and Meiren Xiang), the name change would make more sense. However, double-characters surname is quite uncommon. Some still exist of course, but as far as I know, Meiren is not a double-characters Chinese surname.
Which also brings me to this point. I don’t know the characters you may use for Meiren, but I keep assuming Meiren as 美人 (which means: beautiful person) which is a little… tacky for a name? 美 is used in a name a lot but it’s usually followed by another character. Though there are other characters for mei as well, so my assumption could totally be wrong
I think one way to deal with this without completely changing X’s name would be to make Xin and Xiang their given name, and maybe change their surname. For example, maybe Liu Xin and Liu Xiang? Or any other surname would work too.
(Also this is optional of course, but choosing the Chinese characters for Xin and Xiang would be nice too. Xin and Xiang could mean a lot of things depending on the characters chosen.)
Hopefully it makes sense! And sorry if I was being a little nitpicky;; Chinese names can be complicated sometimes and I understand the struggle myself ;;

Thank you so much for enlightening me! I thought that the (surname) (given name) format was only for Japanese names. In that case, I beg forgiveness for not indulging in the matter a bit more. I will definitely change the order at some point when I’m near the computer.
And you are correct with the characters I chose for Meiren. I will look it over and think about the matter a little more once I get the chance.
I will also remember your suggestion on providing the characters for Xin and Xiang.

Oh, congratulations! That is so great! I’m happy for you
Ugh, I know the feeling, since I have a huge artblock - one I had for years - and I’m just only managing to start drawing a bit again. With that being said, I can’t wait to see Akumu, since he’ll be my chosen RO, unless something makes me suddenly change my mind.
