This was so well written and engaging, I absolutely loved playing this! I appreciate the amount of work you must’ve put into this. I just finished and please tell me there is another chapter or sequel coming out, dying at the hands of a nazi doesn’t seem sit right with me. Again, great job!!!

Thank you, I’m happy you liked it! Yes, there’s a final update still to come, probably in a few weeks, where you get to resolve everything and (hopefully) beat the bad guys! There’s also going to be a sequel, but that’s a looong way off!

Ahhhh I’m so excited for the ending! Thank you again, amazing story.

Hey! I found a minor little error. During the Hong Kong gala when Spillaine went back inside after confronting María, Sam gets misgendered. (I’ve been really enjoying the story! Keep up the good work!)

@Scarlet_Shadow Thanks very much for spotting the error, fixed now! I’m glad you’re enjoying it.

@Bacondoneright YES!!! When Chapter 2 first went out, Stevo got some hate, so I’m happy that more people seem to be liking him now.

Actually, I was being pulled in my seat and enter into a new world. By the way, I like indiana jones but I LOVED TOMB RAIDER. I will look forward to this one. Keep on the good work!

@Schliemannsghost It’s clear you’ve taken inspiration from Indiana Jones, and to some extent Tomb Raider. Did you take any inspiration from the Uncharted Series by any chance? (I’ll be naming my Doctor ‘Lara’ in honour of my personal favourite problematic Archaeologist for my official playthrough on release.)

Yes, a bit! I’ve never owned a Playstation, so I never had the chance to play most of the Uncharted games, but I did play through Uncharted 2 because when it came out I was sharing a house with a guy who owned a Playstation. I definitely enjoyed it a lot! That’s where Shambala in Chapter 2 came from!

EDIT: And TR is definitely in there, too. Esme is a mixture of Lara Croft and some real-life badass early 20th Century female explorers and archaeologists, above all Gertrude Bell.

That’s neat, this is probably one of my fav interactive games on the forums. It makes me what to be an archaeologist haha.

Which Lara? Movie Jolie version, original game version, or reboot game version (I’m a reboot gal).

Reboots, really. I did play the old games, and I can see that they were important for having a female lead at a time when games just weren’t doing that etc, but I never actually liked playing them, because they control so poorly (although the bit where you can lock the butler in the fridge will always be fun). But the reboots are fantastic!

I do take a few issues with the originals, but I get they were a product of their time and they ended up leading to the reboots so can’t really complain too much.

I was going to say that I’m glad RotLA isn’t as destructive the reboot series, but I seem to recall a few destructive events happening in some chapters :no_mouth::sweat_smile:

Edit: destructive to historical sites.

I’ve been playing 2013 TR and 2016 RoTR in lockdown and when I came back to this WIP, it gave me more immersion because in one of my playthroughs (I have a lot) I headcannon Spillane to be someone similar in determination to Lara (minus the family’s wealth).

One small thing for the Russian grandfather’s background: it’s extremely unlikely that he would be from Vladivostok, which was very sparsely populated up until the late 1800s/early 1900s, not to mention what population there was being almost as many indigenous and Chinese people as Russians. For a sailor, it’s more likely he’d be from St. Petersburg.

Again, though, this is one small thing and not a dealbreaker.

Thanks for that. That’s certainly something I can change very easily!

Don’t know if it continues this way, but Chapters 1 and 2 feel like Acts 1 and 2 of a story with how long they are. It’s really impressive and the fact that this is just the beginning is astonishing.

Yeah, the chapters are unusually long for CoG, but on the other hand there are only six of them, which is fewer than normal. So overall, it ends up being an average-length game!

Progress update: A little over half-way through the Endgame now. If you like naval warfare, deathtraps and awkward alliances of convenience, this one’s for you. Give me a week or so. The end is nigh!
