RATiO: The Seraphica -- LAST UPDATED: 6/22/18 (WIP)

I liked it a lot, very well written in my own opinion.
I do hope that we will be able to work with some of the creatures.

We can become only vampire or werewolf? And how it will change the story?

Ugh! I hate breaking in a new computer. You forget how many little programs you accumulate just to make everything work right.

awesome dude cant wait for the rest of this loving it so far

Yeah, computer, monitor, and keyboard changed. So everything is different as I know it lol. Luckily, I’m breaking the keyboard in really quick.

You can become three different types of supernatural. For now the third type will be kept under-wraps, but as for werewolves and vampires. Both will feature a control/hunger or thirst stat.

For each there will be minor changes to the story, you will of course have the weaknesses and strengths of whichever supernatural you are, so that would pose an issue when on missions.

Individual issues: As the vampire I might include a side story/part about your sire and blood bounds (which will be gotten into in the story). As a werewolf there will be some minor issues with the local wolf pack.

Turning into anything will get you a hit to infamy with RATiO and some unique interactions with members. You can see on the stat breakdown page what skills will be changed with vampires and werewolves.

Without giving too much away and without rambling I’ll say: I won’t veer so far off the story that you can make your own, but both werewolves and vampires will be facing issues in missions and will have at least one side story available.

Sorry if absolutely none of that made sense to you! It’s a little more difficult to explain when I can’t name any names, you know?

Yup! RATiO has some precarious alliances with certain supernatural groups who the MC will get to work with. There will at least be an occultist (mage/witch) and a werewolf.

I found a wierd error by taking an interest in the what creatures you want to know, pressing all no, it gets rid of them and creates an empty page which cause a code error

That is a very weird error! I’ll look into it. Thank you.

Edit: Fixed. I’ll upload it with the next update.

So if we turn into a creature, we will continue to work for RATiO? That might not seem very realistic. Not that it would be a deal-breaker to me, I’m loving the game so far and that scenario wouldn’t bother me too much, as long as you can give a good explanation for it throughout the story.

Keep up the excellent work.

Firstly, thank you!

To address your question. It won’t be so black and white as work for them/get kicked out. As it were, RATiO does have alliances and works with supernatural beings they don’t perceive as threats to the public, this is especially true since their outing as they too have to be more careful about what they do and how they do it.

There will be negative consequences for becoming supernatural creatures (more so for the vampire than the werewolf, reasons that will be shown in the story).

In short, I do plan for there to be more than one reason why RATiO would keep the MC around, but I can’t promise they’ll be happy or even particularly accepting about it.

If I can’t manage it, who knows what I’ll write. I’m not a huge planner. I make a basic outline and diverge from there.

Funny enough, I hadn’t even been thinking of evil/chaotic options on vampires, which is funny considering the guy who turns you.

As for turning others into vampires, as it were, I’ve not planned to make any options for that. Culture-wise, it would make sense for the vampires. Story-wise I’m not sure who the MC could/would want to turn. It’s an interesting thought though.

Thank you both for your interest and questions (I love questions). Hopefully I answered those thoroughly enough, if not speak up and I’ll try to be more clear.

Thanks for the quick reply. It seems that you have everything under control. I’m no expert, but I think that there is nothing wrong with not being a huge detail planner, on the contrary, the fact that you don’t subordinate the characters to the intended plot gives you the opportunity to make them more full-fleshed, which is great.

Well maybe if you are werewolf or vampire… Maybe you get the choice to turn a ro after the relationship stat is high enough

Thank you and no problem.

It’s an interesting thought. Some of the RO’s are supernaturals of their own or have magic that is incompatible with the change, but there are a few human ones. I’m not making a promise, but if the coding isn’t too great and the plot won’t be sacrificed for it, I might make it an option. I’ll have to get around that point and see how it plays out.

I was hopeful. I liked Jamie and to think he might have the possibility of liking me back was…heartening.
Jamie was a girl on this playthrough.

Thank you! I’ve fixed the issue in my folder and will upload it when I do the next update.

Hey guys,

I just wanted to drop by and let everyone know this isn’t dead. This week will be slow writing for me due to the holidays and I have a lot of school work to do, but I’m hoping to get at least the first part of episode two – which is the whole investigation section, approximately 2/5 of the episode – up by the end of January. Hopefully I can get more done by that point, but it all depends.

Anyway, that’s my status update and I’m sorry I’ve been so quiet.

It’s a Christmas miracle! I played the demo the other week and fell in love with this. It was like I was living in Grimm the tv series but I saw the inactivity and didn’t set my heart on it, but now I can allow myself to get excited  Can’t wait to hear more of the story.

Hi @Nathan_Faxon, I’ll forever be at your tail. Yeah, was kind of wondering what’s happening to this WIP, then this happens lol.

That said, Grimm’s an interesting way to compare this to.

We pretty much travel the forum together, whatever I reply to you do too and vice versa

It really reminds me of it! An family who specialise in hunting monsters, but I get the feeling we’ll discover not all monsters need to be executed, just like the tv series and I’m getting the vibe from Sabrina that she’ll back that up.

Yeah, sorry! XD I know I have the tendency to get really quiet, because I’m quite shy!

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of Grimm, but you’re on the right thought track with the whole “not all monsters need killing.”

I decided to get over my shyness/anxiety and speak! XD Sorry to keep people wondering.

No need to be shy, this is the internet, where everything is true and people don’t exist
